RFC Europe Wonders

So, correct me if I'm wrong: the only changes in this last test version affecting wonders were the new Bélem Tower and the new texts, right?

And some little bug fixes. But yes, it's not much.

jessiecat, I love that Westminster Abbey idea. And the building graphics fit perfectly.

Using the Palacio da Pena graphics for Escorial is a stretch (looks nothing like it), but then maybe we can add the proper Bratislava Castle (as "Pressburg Castle")!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bratislava_castle

That would leave the old Bélem for Tower of London (replaces Scotland Yard).

Those are the only changes affecting wonders, that is correct.

OK, it's for merging the XML files. And no buildings changes also?

None of these either, IIRC.

So, it's done. Same as they were + the ones I recently named here, corrected and full pedia for them also. I continue my war against making buttons.

If someone thinks of any more wonders now's the time.

I added the code for the buildings to allow spread of irrigation, which included changes to the XML files as well. Right now all buildings have a tag <bAllowIrrigation> that sits in the usual "done by 3Miro" place. However, all the irrigation tags are set to 0, I simply forgot which building was supposed to enable it.

Where's the files then? Let's have a look.:)

Only the Gardens of Al Andalus.

Let's see what Jedi's done before start adding more. I thought he'd post the files days ago. Maybe he's gone AWOL or something.

I'm sorry jessiecat, I have an important exam on thursday, another one next monday and fly to France on thursday after that. :crazyeye: That's why I didn't post it.

I'll try it for tomorrow.

Here's the thing. It'll take more time to merge the XML files with the current ones in the SVN, so I'll post here what there's right now.

The new wonders have the same buttons as other old ones, but I'd like you to look at their effects and some others which had to change (Escorial, Round Church, please give your opinion for them also, I don't know if their bonus is too big). Also the pedia textes, which are complete for wonders and corporations.

You should:
1- Make a copy of the RFCEurope folder in the Mods folder and rename it something like RFCEurope2.
2- Unpack the files in the zip and overwrite the RFCEurope contents.
3- Play the game. You'll only need to look at the Civilopedia, really.
4- To have back your correct Alpha as it was, delete RFCEurope and rename RFCEurope2 to RFCEurope.

Easy, uh?

Nice job on the wonders and pedia texts. One question though. Aren't some of the texts extremely long? For the colonies I'm trying to stick to a 100-120 word format so they'll fit easily in the box and be interesting but fairly brief. When I have time I might have a go at editing some of yours down a bit, if that's OK with you.:)

Accually, I did most of them. I just copy/paste them from wikipedia. But not all. Only the upper part and sometimes the history or structurething.

Ya. I use wiki too. Usually I make a few notes then rewrite it in my own words. I think there's an upper limit to the size we want. So, with your permission, when I finish the colonies I'll edit the others down a bit. OK?

Yeah, I have no problem with that.

Yeah, I feel strongly that we need to do this. Wikipedia entries may be public domain, but it's still plagiarism to steal copy from them without attribution. I'd rather have some minor errors from paraphrasing than a flat-out lift.

...or you can simply credit wikipedia ;) (length issues aside). Paraphrasing without attribution is also plagiarism so if you want to be nice and proper you should somehow mention them anyway.
