I've done a good amount of the basic XML stuff currently, but there is a lot more that I need help with.

I've added the minor civ Vikings. That should fill in the Norway slot and provide Vikings that would be missed out before.
 
I... can't help with files. Although I can propose ideas and playtest and provide civilopedia texts!

Do you know any coders? I can do it but it'll take a lot longer if I have to learn how to do python.

Playtesters and researchers are great for now though as things are developing well! It's just that coding it is a lot and splitting it up would be nice.

If you could collect civopedia text for leaders, civs, etc that would be awesome!

Sorry, don't know anyone. Not personally at least. Although, I'm sure you could get some help with those scary files if you ask around...
 
Ok thanks. They are big and I'm learning slowly, but as long as we can get all the ideas established an Alpha 1 release shouldn't be far behind.

Edit: Instead of conquering Lombardy, I think that one of the Burgundian UHVs should involve controlling all their historical territories, from Holland and Flanders through Burgundy proper down to Provence.
 
Leoreth or someone made a guide on adding civilizations to RFC... I think. I have a rough idea on adding civilizations to RFC.
 
I'm done adding rivers to the map. Tomorrow I'll add hills/mountains.







 
Bah, you're right. The map I've been using as a reference is a post-WW1 one.

Also, I found that and I'm going to use that guide to help.

Venice is too far south, but besides that it looks good.

The Vikings will fill in Scandinavia well also.

Agreed on the Burgundy. That isn't one of the ones I've attempted to finalize yet ;)
 
I'm willing to participate on the mod. I can do the same things as I do/did with the other RFC modmods I'm participating with.

Maybe I have missed some things and probably things have been suggested before, but I'll give my suggestions:
- Maybe it's best if England would be a non-playable civ. I know this sounds a bit radical, but the following made me think of it:
* There core area is a very small part of the map. I think you can't have an important civ like England with such a small area. Because the lack of hinterland, it will act as a small civ, instead of an important one as it was historically. Which is just wrong.
* England didn't interfere much with Germany in that time. In UHV terms, what did they do on this map? They can have a UHV similar to RFCE (conquering parts of France) and maybe colonies, if they will be added. But those only represent mostly area outside of this map.
* A minor one: It will focus the game more on the German part, which is IIRC the focus of the mod.
But maybe with a good design, England can be a nice civ to play and my concerns can be countered. It would be nice if it could.

- Colonies: Will they be added? The civs the mod is mostly focussed on didn't have colonies. But if they aren't in the game, it will be a big miss for the civs that did have colonies.

- Spain: Some parts of the Low Countries were Spanish during the time of this mod. I think this can be best represented by a non-playable Spanish civ. (which the Dutch have to conquer)



Some practical suggestions:
- Can you please make a SVN version of this mod? Then, it will be a lot easier when more people are coding the mod similarly.
- Maybe it's useful to create a google document which contains a list of the features. (civ list with UHV and UP, resources, wonders etc.) RFC Meso and Andes has one, and it's quite useful.

England is planned to be minor. All countries without a star next to them in the first post's list will be minor.

I never really considered colonies because of Germany's lack of colonies, but it could be important. Never thought about the Spanish thing either, it wouldn't be hard to add them.

I'm going to need help coding it. I've started on some of the basics and taken a look at the guides. Basically I'm using the blank SoI engine as a base and using RFCE and RFCE ++ to build off of it along with my own additions.

I think the map should be extended a bit to the south so that you can have at least Rome!
Italy has been a focus for many holy roman emperors, and you could have an investiture controversy event! :p
Do you plan to mod some HRE system?
 
For the HRE, I have an idea. You can take the piety concept from the game and once a Catholic civilization has X amount of piety, the HRE forms. The HRE is destroyed when the current emperor's civilization is destroyed (IRL, by Napoleon in 1806). When you discover a certain tech, you can build a wonder called Bundestag. When the wonder is complete, the HRE is dissolved if it still exists and the German Confederation is formed. The GC could be similar to the HRE but has more choices and resolutions. Although historically inaccurate, the GC will last for the rest of the game.

As far as I know, this is it.

Also, I think you should add two more Germanic civs: Westphalia and Baden.

And I agree on the two civs, but will there be room in the map?
