(RFC) The Eternal State: The Ottoman Empire

great story so far
right before the Ottoman spawn date, will you just move all your old Persian units to Sogut?

I don't think I'm going to found Sogut. It's really a horrible city, so I'll probably save that settler for somewhere else. We'll see though...

Burn Constantinople. Found Edrine instead. It's a much better spot I think.

Maybe... I don't know what the map will look like in 1400. Starting from the 3000 start means things could look radically different.

Tiring of the peace between Persia and Egypt, a Persian emissary is sent to Egypt to inform the Pharaoh of war. Persian troops cross the border south and head toward Djanet.

Spoiler :

The army bombards the city. The troops are ordered to attack the city and after a fierce battle, the city falls.

Then, the following turn, the Pyramids and Great Wall are finished.

A barbarian city appears north of Babylon. It could threaten all of my cities in the region, so the reinforcements that were going to be sent to Egypt are sent North. There's little resistance in the city, and is conquered.

Spoiler :

The Persian army needs rest after the capture of Djanet. More troops keep being sent west toward Gordion. The Greeks are growing seeing the buildup of troops on the border. It's time they see the might of Persia!

nice! Btw before I forget, if you do another story could it be china?

I can't wait for you to invade greece :D

After Greece if you can manage it invade Rome and maybe Carthage too and destroy "Western civilization"

I just played a 3000 BC Ottoman game - lot more fun than I expected it would be (though I did do some slight editing - I WB deleted Sogut and WB moved my palace to Constantinople (I had named it that when I was playing Greece beforehand so it didn't change.) I ended up ruling 15% of land and 25% of population. And I was called the "National Democratic Popular Turkey."

If I do another story, I think China would be the best. I could start from 3000BC and work all the way into the modern age :goodjob:

Nice job! I hope my game goes as well

It didn't go as well as it sounded lol, I collapsed three times. Luckily, I save whenever my civ goes into collapsing so I recovered, but I was shaky or unstable for most of the game after I expanded past Anatolia and into Europe.

I'm trying to make more updates, because it seems like it's going to be a while before I start as the Ottomans. But here's a report I think you guys will like :mischief:

First off, more of the Indian subcontinent is being brought under Persian control. A settler that was whipped in Delhi rushes to build the city of Patala in Northwestern India. Now, my cultural borders run continuously from Asia Minor to Southern India.

Spoiler :

As you can see, my research is now at 0% and I'm barely making +7 gpt. Fortunately, though I had gotten my last valuable tech of Currency, so all my minor cities are building wealth to keep the imperial treasury afloat.

In another part of the empire, troops move south from Djanet and move on Nwt-rist. The Egyptian capital is also the Jewish holy city and it has the temple of Soloman already built! That will save me so much trouble on building shrines. However, a large contingent of Egyptian troops are stationed in the city, so reinforcements from Babylon are being collected to be sent to the Egyptian front.

In Asia minor, the imperial army moves to border between Greece and the Persian Empire. The troops are hungry for combat and conquest. Who could deny such a simple pleasure to my loyal troops? So, war is declared and the army marches on Byzantium.

Spoiler :

Darn, the Greeks have plague... Well, the troops are ordered to bombard the city. THe Greeks need to be put to the sword! With minor losses the city falls!

33capturebyzantium.png

In the South, Persian troops make little headway with the Egyptians. But plague has spread to their capital and is destroying their stability. A few turns later the Egyptian empire collapses. Persian troops rest outside the borders of the independent kingdom while the new city state disbands Egypt's old army. Then, Persian troops sweep south and capture the city with few losses.

34captureniwtrst.png

To the North, the Persian army has received a large contingent of War elephants as reinforcements and force marches south to attack the dreaded city of Athens.

Spoiler :
35troopsapproachathens.png

After many turns of bombarding the city and after many failed attacks, the city finally falls! The Greeks disappear from the face of the earth.

36captureathens.png

In the west, great news reaches Parsa. A Buddhist shrine has been constructed by a Great Prophet in the holy city of Delhi. Now, Persia has two shrines and is approaching 8% of the World area.

Spoiler :
37createbuddhistshrine.png

With the addition of two major shrines and a ton of gold from plundering Egypt and Greece, I move up the science slider to 30% and will be able to research calender in a few turns to take advantage of all those unused luxury resources. The Empire is safe from Barbarians because of the Great Wall, the treasury is full, and two field armies are preparing for the next stage of expansion. The empire has never been stronger! Carthage, Rome, and Ethiopia cower before the might of the Empire. It's time they cower as slaves beneath the boot of Royal authority!
