RFCE 1.3 Playtest Feedback

The stability makes playing with the Ottomans a complete nightmare.

May I suggest a 10 or 20 turn grace period before stability kicks in for freshly spawned civs? (maybe depending on difficulty chosen?)

Or something else, anything beats your entire army turning independent randomly or losing a city a turn before the UHV deadline.

There is a date (around the end of 1200s) that I keep getting crashes..

I tried a vikings and a Hungarian game and I got a crash in both games.. anyone with the same problem?

It seems there is a small bug for Norwegians: UHV goals state that province Marcia should be conquired, but Marcia marked as Foreign/Unstable area. While Northumbria (lies to north of Marcia) is marked as Contested area.
Please check Norwegians UHV and/or these provinces properties.
I have read some historical books :)
These provinces once were conquered (and ruled) by Vikings and so should be marked as Contested:
- Northumbria
- Marcia
- East Anglia

Also probably Eboracum should have Catholicism as Christianity spreads Northumbria at least since 600AD (and Northumbria was well known as a religious and political center).

I am playing the Spanish and there's a crusade coming up. I can choose to steal the crusade on turn 178, but if I do so, no matter which city I take, the game always crashes when the units are supposed to arrive (between turns 180-181). It just freezes and gives me the message that it's not responding. If I don't steal the crusade, the game goes on fine.

I really want that crusade to gather up forces to take Aragon later. What to do?

SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH hungary's territory count. I was the biggest civ, not onlyin europeand failed uhv. counter says: you have 10% best: no
best competitor: 7%

Can you please stop cities from randomly declaring independence? It is incredibly unrealistic, ahistorical and game-breaking.

Do you have a savegame?

ill try to get one

Tried to reproduce it, but for me the UHV triggered without any issues
So yeah, you better not have lost that savegame :trouble:

Alright, some new changes are up
I post it here too, awaiting for feedback :)

New DoM text for Aragon, Morocco
Minor DoM updates for Byzantium, France, Arabia, Cordoba, Burgundy, Germany, Kiev - by DC123456789
Various minor text updates (mostly wording and synchronization changes)
Improvements and updates in the stability guide (under concepts in the civilopedia)
Updated DCN names for France, Hungary (these were very long due), Bulgaria, Byzantium. They are still not perfect, but in a much better shape.
Stability always updates when entering the stability/finances (F2) screen
Minor improvements in the stability code, fixing some python exceptions
Fixed bug in the stability handicap levels (+2 base stability on monarch)
Tuned down unintentionally harsh stability penalties connected to war weariness (4-7 stab difference for medium sized-empires, also it appears later in the war)
The AI has less severe stability penalties for not maintaining it's cities (populace) well enough
Increased instability from religious prosecution, still way better to persecute than to leave untolerated religions in your cities
Increased culture instability in newly conquered cities (less than 20% own culture)
Fixed bug which made it possible for the Pope to collapse
Bigger city attack penalty for most mounted units: -25% for most light cavalry, -20% for most heavy cavalry, -10% for most unique and special mounted units
Slightly tuned down Hungarian and Venetian tech progress (both player and AI)
Increased various maintenance modifiers for Byzantium (especially for the AI), decreased for Burgundy (was still set to the 500AD start)
Cordoba starts with Literature (thus they can use the Religious Law civic on start)
Cordoba starts with Arabic Medicine (health is important for 1st UHV, also somewhat historic and in synergy with the UP)
Portugal starts with some siege units instead of a couple melee ones
Fixed bug where the Prussian province setup didn't switch for the human player in 1618
Fixed bug where the Aragonese starting naval units didn't always spawn
Changed sea spawns: naval starting units can spawn inside other players' sea territory, as all naval units can enter foreign borders anyway
Increased probability of civ resurrections
Small stability boost on completed UHVs (currently +3/UHV)
Adjusted some city secession values
Less barbs in the Maghreb, Arabia, Kiev

@ absinthe

I created a branch for me to work on the 1200 AD scenario, without having to bother it does conflict with the main development. It will probably cause some inconsistency in the revision numbers.

Sure, I don't mind.
I also really liked the Civic Screen of History Rewritten, so good call on that :)

I want to release 1.3 officially very soon. Now for real.
Put the next weekend in the changelog as the latest deadline for it, but it might even happen earlier.
Do you have any WIP changes which should go in 1.3?

Using the HR civic screen started out by me being lazy. I wanted to include the civic combo colors in our civic screen. But that meant I had to do everything again if I would do it for our old screen. (I already created this feature for DoC, which also uses the HR civic screen) Using the HR screen meant I could literally copy-paste the file from DoC. It also looks better, so I killed 2 birds with 1 stone.

I don't have any WIP, aside from the 1200 AD scenario. But that will come after the release.

Scotland should be removed from the English respawn zone, especially if Scotland exists. I don't think I have to explain why this is wrong...

Edit: Also, perhaps Spain's respawn area could be restricted to just Galicia-Leon-Castile proper, so that it won't just try to grab all of Aragon or Cordoba's cities (same problem as above).
