RFCE++ Beta

What do you think about the following changes to Byzantium:

Add Tunis and Napoli to their starting cities.

Make Tunis and Alexandria flip to the Arabs. Make Napoli flip to the Lombards.

Increase Byzantine stability to compensate for flip penalties. Maybe lower unit cost a bit also to compensate for smaller empire.

Hmm I don't know about this. I think Byzantium is perfectly fine right now, and Tunis shouldn't flip to Arabs, especially since it's so far away from Arab's starting position.

I just studied some maps of Byzantium during the peak of the empire including both Tunis and Southern Italy. Then a few hundred years later the empire was decimated to almost the core area only.

Wasn't it Justinian who conquered southern Italy? This wasn't until later into the 500s. The Byzantines also conquered southern Spain at this same time. I still don't know if these need to be included. If memory serves me right, the Byzantine's didn't hold any of these territories for very long.

More important than making additions right now is correcting bugs. I don't even know if Morholt is concentrating on this project right now. The team must be busy with RFCE II.

The Byzantines held Southern Italy until 1071. They only held North Africa until 698, so I don't think we need that.

I still prefer a city that is first goverened by the Byzantines and then the Arabs rather than an independent city.

so is the religion and all the other very annoying bugs posted here going to be fixed any time soon?

Hi,

The bug I talked about a while ago with the CTD is fixed. I think I must have installed it wrong. Anyways, I am playing as Egypt, and it seems that the UP (river tiles +1 food) does not work. No food bonus :( Is this an xml fix?

EDIT: Frustrated with this problem, I started a game as Morocco, only to find that their UP (desert 1h1c, oases triple value) doesn't work either. When I played one of the other new civs in ++ (Novgorod) the UP worked fine. Maybe the gods of this mod just haven't gotten around to these two yet.

It looks beautiful.

Someone mentioned bugs, are there any left? Should I install the ++?

Looks interesting. . .

In my last two games I noticed a strange effect when I made war against Hungary: my units inside their territory were taking damage at each turn without being attacked.
Is it the new Hungarian unique power or a weird bug?

Their unique building (Vegvar) has the ability to damage units in an area around the city.

I would wait until the release of the next version, unless you can find a previous one. The current ++ is in the same state as it was a few a weeks ago. It's playable, but it still has the frustrating bugs. The worse one for me was the unpredictable religion spread and conversions with the AI.

For some reason, I can't build Vinland. I have North American Access, and I even started building it, but two turns later it tells me that I can't continue. No one else has built it. Help! I'm playing as Norway, in case that matters.

Yeah, it disappears very early so you arent able to build any of the later colonial projects without astronomy. If I remember correctly.
