Rhye's Catapult

Ive noticed another thing others probably did as well.
The early civs always die at 1700 BC, and greece never appears. But if you play as greece they dont. Anyway tuning down the barbs in the early time of the game shoud be done.

Old civs did not die on the one try I had with Rome

An idea could be adding another switch, this time inside the corruption formula. Increasing it for China

If we could increase China's corruption and maintance cost, that would in theory slow their expansion. Eventhough China did mature earlier than other nations, in terms of gameplay it evens things out a bit.

In my games with 038A i never noticed the Spanish spawning without tech. Sometimes they spwan without RELGIOUS techs though.

I'll try a new test.

i know this might have already been asked but haw many civs do you think you will add if you find out how to add more

great  England is coded to go to North America, not south!

Hehe :D, Ai is just clever and goes for the oil and luxury ther in the South.

Of course, Rhye, I understand your

In my game, it is more than 300 turns passed and:

Russia is gaining strength in the past century and now is 3rd in score.
Peter learns Electricity in 1724, just as Japan, and they will have it soon.

England learns Plastics!

China already has that, and will go for... Rocketry - only 3 turns to get the stuff..

I can't keep that pace - I will have Assembly Line now

And ah, USA is born in 1605, fine, but is kind of weak...
And it is strange he has got Texcoco as capital in the New Orleans area

038b - Prince

China finished Apollo in turn 313

I have Biology finished... I am ranked 5, Russia is going for a secure 2nd place,
Peter has Industrialism under his belt

038A test report

1975BC

All three early religions have been founded. Buddhism is Egypt, Hinduism in India and Judaism in Jerusalem. :goodjob: Greece has been founded with a great deal of techs making them the tech leader.

1500 BC Jerusalem builds the first wonder…Stonehenge. J

10 AD

Everyone is growing nicely albeit slowly. All spawning civs have received techs as expected. The barbarians have not yet attacked Persia, although the Persians used most of their Immortals in a failed attempt to sack Babylon. Rome has 4 cities, and Greece 3 (none at Constantinople).

70AD

Christianity has been founded at Jerusalem. That makes it the holy city of 2 faiths; you would think they would put more than 3 archers there to defend it…

110 AD Pasagarde destroyed by barb Horse Archers.

150 AD Beijing captured by barbarians!!!!!

350 AD Greece losses 2 cities around the Black Sea.

450 AD Greece settles the city of Delphi in England.

490 AD Delhi is the worlds largest city (pop 12), Japan settles the Asian mainland.

610 Roman settlers found Cumea in the area around Gdansk.

Mecca founded as normal, founds Islam. Saladin did NOT receive Meditation or Sailing as starting techs. Antium destroyed by barbarians in southern Gaul

690 Greek city of Sparta destroyed by barbarians in Balkans. Pharsalos founded in its place

710 AD Greece and Arabia begin to divide Middle East between them.

730 AD Madrid is founded. Like Arabia, Spain does NOT have Meditation or Sailing, but does have Theology, Feudalism and Code of Laws.

now this is strange:

Suddenly, in the diplo window I don't see the AI techs for trade,
not even in red!

The F4 lists them as things I "can't trade" with the AI,
but these techs are not in the diplo window!

EDIT:
few turns later I see them again properly

830 AD

Paris founded as expected and planted 2 cities as usual. England founded London in place and flipped the Greek city settled in wales 2 squares west!

It seems that the lack of starting techs is NOT present in 038a.

why? I use drive C just for the OS, and a bigger one for all the stuff.
Mods can be very big, I don't want to waste space on C. Having some folders in there even though I specified a different installation folder is already annoying.

enen, is it really necessary to put those files there? Can they just stay where they are, with your changes?
Heh heh, I understand about the seperate drive for the OS. Pretty sure you can change the location of the Documents folder though.

Your mod will work just fine if placed in the Mod folder under the default install path, however it is a bad habit since that is only 1 step away from making changes to default xml/python files in the default Assets folder as well. Civ4 will fall back on using the files in the default folders if those used in the Document folders fail to check out the tests, but if you changed the files in the default folders and they don't work you might very well be looking at having to do a complete reinstall of Civ 4.

Anyway, the point is not so much where you place the files on your own system, but rather where you suggest other people should place the files on their systems. Practicing a bad habit yourself is one thing - advocating it is another thing entirely ;) :p .

Btw - any comments to my suggestion about the individual spawn scripts?

038 - Prince

turn 343, 1804

Peter has finished 2 SS parts! but China is of course leads the race with 7 parts done...

I razed Germany in team with Greece and Spain (just for fun),
and have Industrialism, gonna build some tanks and go against Greece ;)

That is, if I will have the time for that, as China is to close the curtain

Rhye, you see, it is less that 400 turns this way..
Tech costs and other costs will have to be balanced

EDIT

I checked it with debug: China will finish it in 5 turns, all the 3 parts left!
That makes a total of 350 turns on Prince level

Cyber, but I shall have no problem if I take care and put mod folders into the,
well, mod folder under the main game folders... shall I?

(uhh, lots of folders here, but I hope I was clear on it :))

Cyber I hear what you are saying regarding the path for placement of mods, but I also have always used the mods folder in the default location for Civ games.

For Custom assets and global mods that effect everything, then I use the custom assets folder in the My games path. But i don't think that applies here.
