RifE New Feature Speculation

No more new features, release instead ? Pretty please ? With sugar on top ??? :D

No, because not everything we have planned is in. We COULD release, if a certain person finished some python (Who shall remain unnamed), but it wouldn't be anywhere near complete.

I've always wondered why markets have had straight-up gold bonus, I always thought it should have a commerce bonus instead.

I had an idea for the Market that I got while playing Magister Cultuum's mod. Markets themselves would offer no static benefit apart from the ability to turn one citizen into a merchant. They would, however, offer one free specialist for every plantation or pasture in the city's plots.

Markets help the economy in any city. But unless the city had resources that would be traded in a marketplace, that city would have to spend one of their citizens to reap the benefit (as a Merchant specialist.) Cities with lots of commodity type resources would find these marketplaces to be invaluable.

This idea might work out pretty well for vanilla FfH. Unfortunately, the whole free specialist for improvement concept in incompatible with RiFE since you can build plantations and pastures pretty much anywhere.

Could it be possible to check for capped resouurces instead of pastures/plantations? Anyway, I think in the long run that would make markets even more powerful...
I think the net gold gain was originally put there because markets are needed to stop the bleeding of gold when you start expanding in the beginning of the game... Removing that for the free specialist route would probably negate that effect and make hem very powerful in some (albeit, limited) circumstances...
Still, I agree that in general, extra-economy buildings should be limited...
Hopefully the planned changes to animals/guilds should address that, to a big extent

Would it be possible to get a small % commerce or gold bonus for the market for each type of resource (like deruptus brewing house has 10% commerce for each of the farm resources)? The more variety of resources you have, the more it boosts the market. I'm not sure if this is balanced but it's an idea :) Also gives another reason to trade for resources.

That is actually a very good idea... Say, 2-3% :commerce: for each resource (Would say just organic ones, but others would be sold too)?

Well a market doesn't necessarily equate with food (that would be the farmer's market). Why not just a flat 1% for every resource? I can easily see a normal market selling some rudimentary weapons, some trinkets of low grade jewelry, etc.

i agree, when i think of a market in the fantasy context, i picture an open square or pavilion packed full of merchants with carts or stalls hawking everything from the finest wool this side of Erebus, to magical reagents to cure every ill, to fresh venison from the northern forests.

obviously the powers that be will find a way to profit off this commerce, so a 1% commerce boost for every resource the city has access to makes a lot of sense.

For the record, it isn't me :p

My python is all done, see below...

Flavor Patch has been released; Check the download thread. ;) Doesn't contain much from the next version, but it should make the current version far more stable, letting it last longer. ;)

And it looks prettier... more pretty? Nah, too girly, it looks more interesting, that's it.

The word you are looking for is "purty."

Yeah, it is very 'purty' ;)

And, because I have access to the team forum, I feel it is my duty to warn you.
Do not:
Play as the Malakim
Get the wonder from the Mirror
Found Empy and CoE in the same city as the Mirror wonder
Build their shrines
Capture a Dire Hamster and build its cage in that city
It will spawn a Strength 999, giant hamster unit with a spell called Valkrionn's revenge, and it will come after you.

:eek::eek::eek:

To bad it wont have +50 first strikes and immune to defensive and first strikes.
I still would rather take unit with only 25 strength with the above skillks.

Trust me, you don't want to be on the receiving end of Valk's revenge! I was one of the unlucky lab rats. He made me test it over and over again, it was terrible...

See, I'm one version behind, and he adds stuff like this in!

RifE will soon be Rampaging infant furry crEature...

As long as it cannot have the new Multicast Meteor swarm spell, it's still ok.
