A true sports icon, trailblazer and such a decent friendly man. Will be sadly missed.

The only reason I view Ruth as the greatest baseball player of all time is that he was also a very good pitcher, but Aaron is 1b) and a much greater person than Ruth was (really wish that Bonds never passed Aaron as the career home run leader sigh).

There never were many baseball fans playing Civ. I watched Aaron play a lot. I always remembered that he was a shortstop when he was a kid and that he hit cross-handed as a kid also. Aaron started out in the Negro Leagues. He very nearly ended up with the Giants which would have made him a teammate of Willie Mays. Hank Aaron had the best reputation as a man of any player I ever heard of.
