[R&F] Rise and Fall General Discussion Thread

I'm going to guess they do have it programmed the AI won't settle when that -20 pops up on the settler lens
If that's hard-coded, I hope they fix the AI that often leads to a settler getting "stuck" if its destination tile is taken.

I would also hope that the AI could decide to, say, put an available governor in a new city if the location was good enough and the governor could stabilize the loyalty.

I also wonder how much otherwise hidden info we can glean from the new loyalty info on the settler lens...

So, we have a livestream today and possibly a wonder movie later this week. What are everyone's guesses for next week? Monday is Christmas, so it is unlikely they will follow the same schedule.

1. Will we get a First Look the week of Christmas?

Rise and Fall PR said on her twitter yesterday that she just left the office for the last time of the year. And I highly doubt they have already done a First Look and put it in auto-release.

They said at the end of the live stream that First Looks etc. will continue, only live streams will have pause until next year.

Yes, and it is very likely that they have the FLs all done and set to auto-release. Remember, the Dutch one said "Identity" instead of Loyalty, and they came onto the forum to say that it came from an older build and Identity is obsolete.

The thing I wonder about is if the blogs get posted to the website automatically or do they do it by hand. If they put the next one up ahead of the holiday to save work without linking it to the main page, then we might be able to deduce the html address.

Well, they didn't promise exactly what we would see. They said something like: "We'll be revealing a few things over the next couple of weeks, but the livestream will be on break until we come back in January after the holidays."

I think we'll get a First Look next week, probably Thursday, but it's possible we'll just get a wonder movie tomorrow and next Friday.

I mean I'm leaving the office this afternoon and I won't be back until Jan 3rd, but I'm working every day next week (including Christmas cause I'm on call!).

But that would be cheating!

...

Let's make a list of all possible Leader + civ combinations to try out.

I tried a bunch of likely (and less likely) combinations, but no success. If it is there anyway, I hope someone does a better job of finding it than I did.

People seem to be missing the obvious point with forward-settling

I think it should be left in, because it will no longer be effective. Because loyalty presure will crumble, there's no point in forward settling unless you NEED that city for a while, but if you don't care for it and just want the production it's a good outpost to reinforce your troops right before you attack.

yeah if you are going to attack anyways, may as well forward settle.

We still don't have the answer whether eliminating civs reduces all pressure to 0. It looks to me like it does. This is a pretty simple mechanic. No cities = 0 pressure. So full conquests seem to be the thing.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA--we had about 12cm about a week ago, but it's all melted now. I'm glad--it's way too early for snow around these parts.

Yeah, the orange and white looked nice. This new green and black isn't doing it for me at all.
I don't know, it kind of suits my opinion of Australia's inclusion in the first place. :p (Thank goodness Australia can be disabled.)

Speaking of colors, I guess Indonesia's color change means Morocco is pretty much out of the running for this expansion? Not that I considered them likely (or really wanted them for this expansion, I'd prefer Mali) in the first place, but still.

Many Canadians would be happy with almost any Canadian leader, even Francophone ones.

My great-great grandfather had a direct role in the Upper Canada Rebellion of 1837. He was best friends with William Lyon Mackenzie {my vote} & one of 12 who Queen Victoria exiled to Van Diemen's Land. His father was a prominent figure at the time got him pardoned because he only had one leg, though the Queen exiled him from the Commonwealth. Fortunately President Buchanan saw it as a brave act of loyalty to the US (which it was) & gave him & his sons land in Michigan to start over again.
