The Wednesday Livestream might be impacted by the Cree fallout and it could be put on hold until they have formulated the official response. That's not something Firaxis will want to put their Production and Dev/Design team members on the front line of. If there isn't a formal Firaxis/2K response by Tuesday afternoon, I would expect the Livestream to get pushed out.
The livestream can also be played with the newly announced civ of this week. So I don't think that would be a reason to postpone any planned livestream.
I will be appalled if we get Medieval Scotland over Medieval Ireland, but tbh I'll believe this leak is true when I see it. I really don't think we'll see the Zulu or the Celts/Scotland in R&F. All that being said, I will take William Wallace in a hearbeat over Noble Savage Hippie New Age Guru Boudicca.
Knowing Firaxis, though, we are very liable to get a Highland Kilted Romantic Wallace and then read about earthquakes in Scotland when Wallace starts spinning in his grave like a turbine...

First, I am certain they were planning on focusing on the Cree - it's the biggest thing that was announced since their last livestream. They spend time setting up save games and scenarios to help show off the content. This would take some effort to pivot at the last minute. I'm not saying it can't be done - but that leads to point #2...
Second, even if they don't focus on the Cree content itself, they would get a ton of questions on the topic in the livestream chat. If they don't address those questions (and haven't officially addressed the Cree reaction before then), someone will pick up on it - and point it out in a negative way. The people doing the livestream are not the people you should be relying on to make that first public response. They aren't going to want their very first in-person, live, public presentation of the new year to originate in that uncertain climate.
Pushing out the livestream would be a safer move than going ahead with it, unless the situation is somewhat under control by then.
- and ukuleles, which with the straw/grass skirts could mean they've decided to do the Late 1930s Kitsch Hawaii Civilization: heavy on Tourism, Uniques would include the Pan American Clipper (airborne Trade Routes!) and Surfing and their Unique Unit would be a white-suited American Sailor on Shore Leave who pillages your Entertainment Districts.
I don't know the thinking in Take Two's board room.
If excessive panic sets in, we'll see the Cree buried and commented out of the code, RF will feature 7 civs, and there will be a free DLC pack adding the Iroquois, Sioux, Cherokee, or Blackfoot tribes about a month after release.
I'd kill to be a big enough shareholder to be able to call and get that info right now.

There isn't that much controversy. To cancel the Cree now, especially after the public announcement, would be some next level corporate skittishness. They might release a press release and they may additionally have a PR call with the headsman who made the comments, but they're not cancelling at this point.

I would bet anything they already have a contingent of lawyers up in Saskatchewan buying pipe tobacco and getting ready to appease and assure or at least negotiate and settle with the Elder Council on Monday.

The Cree civ is practically complete at this stage (aside from balance tweaking).
Even Sean Bean voiced the intro for the Cree already.
It is better to leave the Cree in. After all, the Creegate is beneficial to all parties, including the Cree themselves, since it means much greater exposure to the Canadian government's injustice towards Poundmaker and would lead to greater pressure to pardon and perhaps exonerate Poundmaker.
Maybe, but knowing Firaxis William Wallace will be dressed in a modern kilt and tam o' shanter, quoting Burns, with every 18th century romantic stereotype of Scotland or Ireland or even Wales that can be shoved into a single civ. I mean, sure, that's still better than Hippie New Age Guru Boudicca, but...
For anyone who places stock in the supposed wikipedia connection, tomorrow's edition of the English language Wikipedia (up now) has a OTD entry for Scotland and a Picture of the Day of a clock tower built by Ottomans in Tel Aviv.
I think the leader of Iceland should be Snori Sturluson. And they could have a special governmental district called the Althing. That would be great. And oh yeah offer some of that fermented shark hakarl as gift.
