[R&F] Rise and Fall General Discussion Thread

Well they could have Scotty as leader of Scotland instead of Wallace. I'm sure people would be happier about that.

What if there is an agenda tied to disliking Civs that try to harm barbarians/take away free cities? Could that go to William Wallace?

I searched forum, but could not find anything about "negative era points". Has anyone suggested this? For example, burning city to the ground should generate negative era points equal to the number of citizens lost etc?

New theory on why we didn't get a First Look this week: they're doing extra due diligence to try to avoid controversy over the depiction of the Mapuche.

(Old theory: a bunch of them went to Canada to try to smooth things out with the Cree.)

As far as theories go, do you think that Firaxis has the power to convince even the Pope to smooth things over with the Mapuche in Chile this week? Argentina is assured then! The Pope might be a fan and want his native country in.

We haven't seen any evidence of negative era points. Doesn't mean they can't exist, but it seems unlikely. Maybe modders will experiment with the concept.

Not advertised by Firaxis, so i guess not in the games, but I think it is a neat idea that what qualifies as Atrocities (as used in older games) gave negative points. However, maybe they have left this out in order it is not used in a gamey way... oh... i'm too near the normal age bar: let's do something really evil!

I can hear the drums beating already!

*Browsing through Scottish inventions*

...huh, canal by Thomas Telford. That's cool...

*Continues to browse*

Also the telephone, BBC, radio, pedal bike, the Fairlie, UST, Encyclopædia Britannica, Postcards, John Bull, a whole load of Scientific and Medical discoveries, some athletics, Curling, Cycling, Golf, Ice Hockey, Television, Fridge, GTA, Bank of England...

...This is one of the reasons why I celebrate being "British" rather then "English" (not saying England hasn't had it's fair share of inventions and discoveries).

With England being more Cultural, could Scotland be more Scientific? Perhaps:

Scottish Enlightenment
Campus districts and buildings provide +1 loyalty to the city they are built in. +1 Era score for every Eureka and Inspiration triggered. Recruitment of Great Scientists and Engineers is 50% faster.

@AvianBritish Where you wrote "curling" I originally read "cursing," and was like, "Well, of course Scotland invented cursing." :p

The Santa hats are still there for me as well...
It seems to be something related to browser or temporary cache of the browser. I don't see the Santa hats in firefox, but do see them in chrome.

Now, we must all come together and petition for DLC, so as to enable that we all (or at least most of us) receive our favorite individual civs.

My Steam Wallet is ready!

Imagine the reaction of all the civ fans on Reddit and Youtube who demanded the Ottomans in the expansion when it's near or on release... There will be riots in the streets... Best keep off those sites and watch the Winter Olympics opening ceremony during that time
