Rise and Rule for Civ3:Conquests

I am having a major issue. Playing RaR, Germany, Regent level and in the year 1020 it crashes. I get an error stating Page Fault with Conquests.exe. It happens ONLY after I run year 1020 then proceed. I have re-installed all componenets and still get it. Anyone else having this issue, or any ideas on a fix. I hate to lose all the work I have done.

Welcome to R&R Skeeve.

And thanks for your appreciation on the problems of keeping the Civilopedia up to date. :)

The next version contains corrections to most problems posted in this thread. But as we keep on improving the mod - no doubt we will add new anomilies. :D

The Civilopedia tends to be the last thing to be updated, mainly because of all the the dynamic changes that take place in the Mod. and the long time it takes to get the Civilopedia updated. (taking into account all the links etc.)

So thanks again. :goodjob:

@bucfan76 - A page fault is a pretty serious error. Civ is normally pretty good at reporting errors rather than just crashing.

You may be better off asking your question on the technical support forum (but by all means cross post to here too).

But you will need to include full information on your computer (make, CPU type, RAM etc.) and operating system and patches.

I'd just like to say again that this mod is the best thing I've played for a civ game ever!

Now here is my question, I'd like to post my save game, chieftan level ( I know, what a punk ;) but I had stayed away from civ3 for months and just got back into it, also with this mod I wanted to take my time and get the hang of things )

I just don't know how :(

The game is pretty kick ass, with the earth map from another mod with RaR resources added ( I forget the guys name, rayhe or something? )

I went with 8 civs, cause I like big empires that sooner or later go to war!

I picked the americans cause, well, I'm american and I like the F-15 ( I know I know, the horror :p )

Well, I can't belive the AI diden't put another civ in north/south america and I've had an intresting, if somewhat booring game.

I'd like to post it so I can get some feedback on what I'm doing wrong, and what I've done right. Still... mabey one of you can tell me how to get a nice world war going :king:

I'm wayyyyyy ahead in techs and am making a bundle in gold per turn, even with science at 10% I'm getting the last techs in six turns!

So, can someone tell me how I go about hooking this up so you all can take a look?

Please :)

Ah ha!

I just saw the guys name is Rhye, and someone posted his worldmap, modified for RaR resources in the first few pages in this thread!

Sorry for the lack of detail

Could one of the simply brilliant creators of RaR give us mere mortals a vague idea of what will be forthcoming in the next patch?

torrasque

And maybe even an idea - even more vague - WHEN we'll get it? :mischief:

I'm especially hoping for a graphics patch soon with the missing icons and the specific unit graphics.... :whipped: :whipped:

@ Bronx Warlord

It depends mainly on how big the save is.If it is rather small (don't remember the exact number at the moment, 500kb maybe?), you can use the attachment function when you post."Manage attachment", enter the path the save is on your hard disk and load up.If it is to big you have to make an upload to the server. There is a nice tutorial for this stickied in the Succession Game Area:

@ patch

time: It is in the works and we all do our best to have it soon. There is no concrete time at the moment when to release it, it mainly depends on how how big is it/what is covered with the next version (if we decide to release a smaller one it might be in 1 or 2 weeks, otherwise it is likely to take more time).

content: Regardless of how big it is, bugs mentioned here will be fixed, adjustment to balance, graphical improvments and...perhaps some additional surprises :mischief: :D

Just out of curiosity...has anyone beaten RaR on Sid? From the experience of the current Deity SG I am partizipating, I tend to say it is near impossible, but perhaps it is possible if you just vary the settings carefully enoug (and of course if your playing skills are excellent).

Not yet, but I'm about to try. Grand Theft auto and uni exams got in the way of my Civ time. Deity I've won, and I'm currently in an emperor game specifically to look at modern era stuff and win by spaceship. Emperor is fairly easy, without the other civs being almost useless for researching alternative tech trees so I can trade with them rather than getting them myself, etc.

Has any one tried for a 25k cultural victory in RnR 1.01. I did the other day and built almost all wonders and culture producing items in my captol. With only 200 odd turns left in the game I was finall over 10k culture and was getting over 100 culture per turn. I finally gave up and just grabbed a quick diplomatic victory.

Basically my question is, is it actually obtainable? The cultural value for improvements have all dropped. I know there are more of them but virtuallly everything is 1 culture per turn. So that leads back to my question. Is it posssible and has anyone done it yet?

I find a cultural victory very easy, especially as the default setting is 25K for one city, 50K for one civ. I don't turn off the culture victory option, as I prefer to see it, along with population, territory stats etc when checking victory progress, but I will set the culture values to max. I have accidentally scored a culture victory, late in the 3rd age. Same thing happened on DyP.

I'll echo what others have said, the mod is brilliant, and worth the wait, both development time and dial-up download time. I have encountered a small bug, which may be RaR, may just be my computer. It's happened 3 times now, all while playing RaR games. I open the advisors screen, click on the military advisor, and the game quits. I have downloaded RaR and the first patch in this thread, the only other change I've made to version 1.22 of civ is to change the default colour pallettes. The bug isn't a big problem, I can just reload the last autosave, and it has only happened approx 5% of the times I've checked the military advisor.

Biggest annoyance I have is a Civ3 problem, not a raR problem. Diplomatic victories are far too easy to acheive, provided I'm one of the candidates.

Doesn't hang, but actually quits. Task manager won't have civ 3 on it. I have occasionally had the game hang, when it does it still appears on the task manager, listed as not responding. It's probably still a civ3 problem though, and it doesn't stop me playing the game, so I'm over it.

Playing on Sid level is proving tough. Tends to be a glut of wonders built around turn 50, it's taking plenty of effort just to stay vaguely in touch.

What settings are you using? I'd tried for some time with cold 80% archipelagos, but out of easily 100 start, I hardly ended 5 times alone on a landmass, and a total of one without the next AI island 3 tiles away (and here, I had not a single Luxury on my landmass ; otherwise, I was doing quite fine). I think the reason is that tundra is unsettable, so the map generator will always place you too close to the AI.

This mod is incredible, it is like Civ 3.5.

I made one addition myself though. I added Snoopy's v4.5 Conquest graphics. :)

Huge world, random everything. Gave up on random civs, as trying with civs like the romans, which have two traits that are essentially useless early in the game, especially on the harder levels, was getting annoying. Current game I'm the arabs, seem to be on a large continent with 6 or so others.

Marxism should not be set as optional to pass to Modern age, for the simple reason that it's required for Labor Union, which is not optional; hence I see no reason why Marxism should be.

Yes, thats an error (there is another one of the same kind, IIRC with Screw Propeller), which is already on our list to be fixed.

Playing as the Persians I tried to upgrade my bi-planes to fighters. The game crashed, saying it could not find the P38 lighting .ini file.

Simply, this is a brilliant mod. Here's hoping that R&R continues to receive the attention you folks have given to it thusfar, as I don't think I could ever go back to vanilla CIV. I've been spoiled beyond recovery.

On the subject of difficulties: After several heartbreaking almost-wins on a Deity 5-city-challenge, I finally managed to pull one off with the Tibetans. I'm dreading to see what Sid has in store for my next attempt...

Yes, thats also a known problem and will be fixed with the next bigger patch(the last one was a .biq only patch).I'm not sure what the excact problem
here is, but most likely it is simply a spelling error in the filename. If you compare the error message and the existing file, you can correct it propably for the moment.
