Rise and Rule for Civ3:Conquests

ok, I started a new game and so far I didn't have any problem, but thank you...

BTW another question, right now it's 80 AD and I met the iroquois, their treasure is 12897 (!!!!!!!) how did they manage to accumulate such an amount of gold?? I've never seen anything like this...I hope this is not a bug :)

Some games by the industrial era I'm sitting on 20,000 gold myself. It's usually the rate cap that does this for the AI (and you) because you can only increase science so far and the rest go into gold. If you build lots of commerce buildings you can easily haul in hundreds a turn without a sweat.

Has the Knights of the Realm been changed to upgrade in 1.04 beta?

Also I was wondering if it was possible to have a unit as both land and sea, so that helicopters could attack ships and island hop. They could be flagged as coastal only.

Also aegis destoyers could have a aircrcraft capacity of one with a house rule of using only sea helicopters(anti sub) or early jet aircraft (harriers/vtol)

comments anybody

civ3 doesn't allow for land/sea combo units. Your helicopter idea is impossible. I also think the aegis destroyer idea is a little too weak irl to be copied into the game. A large flotilla could probably gather enough airpower to make an airwing if it accepts the loss of all utility functions that those helicopters perform. I don't see that happening in any real navy, and if we are playing with imaginary navies, better include everyone's favourite wishlist ship - a modern battleship that kicks carriers into oblivion.

LOL I just noticed that my message has been edited by the moderator! I have read all 89 pages and this is the only moderator edit that I can remember seeing! I guess I should be flattered, but it is a little annoying. I know there must be some elite RaR players who are bored with the ai. The guys I play MP with surely are. We modded Doc Ts to make the maximum corruption etc and still we roll all over them in the late indust/ modern world. And this is not with a nerfed map, this is with a map that gives all equal random starts! What we really want is some skilled RaR players who aren't scared of a MP game. We welcome the modders themselves as well as any other skilled players to give a shot at a MP game. DocTs, Kal-el, Harrier, Pffer u are invited. Any others who feel they can compete are also invited. Contact me to find out when we are playing, or if you are feeling froggy we are usually in the MP lobby at around 10 pm est usa time. Later Civvers!

Hi ACamus, glad you like the mod.
As for me, I usually don't play MP. I enjoy Civ of all games because I can think as long as I want about any move I make - and MP turns Civ into a RTS game for me.
Also, the entire RaR team except Kal-el locates in Central Europe, so 10pm Eastern sees us sitting at work ;).
But thanks for the invitation!

@GGM

Knight of the Realm do upgrade. They can be upgraded tu Currisiars.

Templars do not upgrade. And they lose their effectivness almost as soon as they are built. A 6-1-2 and Currisairs are very close @ 6-2-3. Most times, a wonder produces exceptional units, for the time in which the wonder is active. This is not the case for the knights templar wonder.

Hello everybody. I finally got a win on Demigod. I went with the Malinese/Continents/Less Agressive and turned the cultural conversions off. I was able to war my way to a space ship launch. The Mali UU is mean but I was frustrated when my elite Heavy Horseman was put into combat (during defense) instead of the pikeman. A few Heavies died when I would rather the pikeman duke it out with the attacker. Anyway, a few tweaks with the setup can make victory on the more challenging levels much easier. My second win on Demigod was with the English with Archipeligo/Less Agressive/Cultural Conversions Off. I just built a gang of cannon and placed them in a city located on an enemy island. With the cultural conversion off your city wont flip. Rush a garrison and watch the slaughter. The ai will attack with many many units. Add a few calvary to kill the enemy and sneak back into your city and you have an effective leader factory to rush all those small wonders.

That's just the way the program operates. There's a formula the program uses to determine what the best defender is, and at times this makes offensive units look like better defenders than a defensive unit.

i just downloaded and started trying this mod and it looks really cool. one thing that bugs me though is in the start up of the game when your choosing your world parameters. the rows and collums are off, like where it should say random under the other civs it now says 'your civilization' or where rules should be above the box containing the choices it is inside it at the first check. it doesnt seem to change anything as long as you pick where they where before but its a little annoying. any way to fix this? other than that the rest has been great and im really enjoying it. thanks for all the work on it.

I use to play RaR for a while, but I just got a new computer. Haven't installed it yet but I saw in the Succession Game Forum that they were using version 1.04 in various games. I can only seem to find version 1.02 at the RaR website and at the beginning of this thread. Any know where this new version exists?

Comon guys!

Some one has to stop this!
Ever since i got his mod i've completely stopped studying, going out, playing every other games.... Hell, yesturday my girlfriend said: "It's either me or your freaking game ....!"

Oh, well. I can always find a new one. (girlfriend, i mean).

Great job guys! Thanks.

i don't know if this was answered already, and i dont care to look through 89 pages of posts to find it if it was, so could someone tell me why i can't set my research below 40%? My friends and I are playing a hotseat game with no tech advancement, but it isnt letting us set the tech below 40%.

Probably your government has a cap on it, and by trying to set science below 40% you're violating that cap.

lord graywolfe, do you have the latest Conquests patch installed? Should be version 1.22 on the game title screen.

yeah i have the lastest patch. the screens all look fine on the other mods ive installed from here but something was added or removed on them with this one and it changed them a little. not a big deal cause i remember what each button is suppose to be. might be due to the orginal game i bought as mine is infrogames not atari.

You might want to try reinstalling RnR. I have the original Civ3 disc, and the original Conquest disc, and I don't have this problem.

1.02 is the current official version.

1.04 is a beta version under test.

It will be released soon - when Isak :king: stops sun bathing. :goodjob: :crazyeye:

There is a bug in the 1.04 beta. My friend's installation didn't get the longboat (this isn't about longship) files at all and on mine the .ini file was wrong.

We fixed it up and are continuing our PbEM (which it seems we'll lose to the computer).

Hi there!

I think there is a bug with Techs and the Sioux. I'm playing 1.03 extended. I have a runaway win game. One problem -- no matter what I do, no matter what tech I get, the Sioux show as having it!

I don't know if this is a bug in the Sioux getting the tech, or if it is an issue with what is shown in the Diplomacy dialogue.

In this game, whenever I talk to the Sioux, they have the same techs I have; no techs show. If I trade for a new tech, and immediately click on diplomacy with the Sioux, no Techs show, implying the Sioux also have it.

You can see it from the attached game -- talk to the Sioux. Same tech. Now, go to Carthage, and rush build Leonardo's workshop with the Scientific Great Leader. The Sioux will still show no techs, even though I get two more.

Note that they don't have the Great Library either (or, at least, it doesn't show on F7.) Indeed, the only wonder they have is the MoM.

Is there any way to tell if this is a bug with the Diplo display, or if the Sioux really have the tech? If they have the tech, how do they get it?

Thanks for any help,

Breunor
