Rise and Rule for Civ3:Conquests

After I have checked both civilopedia entries again, I see what you mean (although for me just the other way round? )...the Oda has no auto-generated upgrade link, while the Arquebusier has. However, this doesn't mean it cannot be upgraded, because it seems that all foreign flavour units doesn't get such auto-generated links (I assume this has to do with the construction of upgrades and the amount of flavours). From what I have seen in the .biq, everything here is right.

EDIT: Roland Johansen is right here, I have edited my answer. Thanks for clearing that :)

Thank you for the explanation, I'm glad it was a false alarm.

the only bug that i can find, and it is driving me completely crazy!!!

how come there is no year calendar? it just says Nov. graaah its driving me bonkers

This is caused by a wrong label.txt file. Which version of Conquests do you use? IIRC, this occurs if you use an earlier Conquests version than 1.22.It is definitly not a RaR problem (beside the fact RaR is made vor V1.22)!

I want to thank everyone who has contributed their efforts to this wonderful mod. This is the first mod I have ever tried and was able to install it correctly with your great guidance in previous threads. It is a good change for normal conquests and very interesting. So... thank you. :)

Just had a thought playing tonight. Civilopedia says constitutional monarchy has high war weariness & a commerce bonus, this thread says it has no war weariness and no commerce bonus. Not sure if it's a civilopedia bug, or a game bug, but the constitutional monarchy govt specific buildings (tomb of the unknown soldier & something else) are for reducing war weariness, which is pointless if there is no war weariness.

It has definitly commerce bonus and high war weariness (and the special buildings work against WW).The civilpedia is right here...and I don't remember any post in this thread saying the opposite  Are you sure you mean Constitutional Monarchy and not Absolute Monarchy (this has in fact no commerce bonus and no WW!)?

I should reread the thread and check my references before I post. Yeah, the posts I'm thinking of probably said absolute rather than constitutional monarchy. That'll teach me to post at 3 in the morning. Sorry. Back to trying to win on Sid I go.

Theocracy I still have to pay maintanance for buildings.

Yes, thats the way it is supposed to be.It is a civilopedia error (the text for Theocracy says it suffers no maintenance costs - however, only a partial error: if you look at the stats summary below the text it says for maintenance "normal"); nevertheless thanks for reporting!

Thankyou..

I''m going to give myself a quick pat on the head. I just fulfilled two milestones, I got my first RaR Emperor victory and, in the same game, I got my first conquest victory. I was Germany and my Eurocopter SODs were invincible.

On to Demigod!

Isak, your mod looks excellent, but I'm having something of a large problem/bug. I'm playing your mod on Owains world, and whenever I try to build a second city, Civ3C closes on me. I have it on v. 1.22 currently.

Sorry if this was brought up before, but I'll be damned if I'm going to search this whole thread.

@Mungaf: Not sure about your problem. Does it give any error message before closing, or is it just a quick Crash To Desktop? Haven't heard about the latter problem with the current version of the mod. Could there be something in Owains map that conflicts with RAR, perhaps?

btw, It's not just my mod. Kal-el is the designer, and now Doc Tsiolkovski, Harrier and Pfeffersack are co-designers. I'm basically just the caretaker, and only chip in on discussions that are simple enough for me to understand ;)

YNCS: Congratulations. :goodjob: Looking forward to hearing about how you've blasted Demi-god to smithereens.

Mungaf,

Are you able to play successfully on other maps?

After a 6-9 month hiatus I finally broke down and purchased Conquests. I played 2-3 games in the traditional mode to get the feel of the new game and looked forward to giving RAR a try once I was up to speed. Downloaded and am playing my first game now using the large Earth map from Kal-el with resouces (no barbs - I tried with barbs first playing as the Celts and got creamed within 10 turns, so started a no barbs game instead).

The game ran great and I had not encountered any noticable problems until now. I'm in the late Medieval ages and most of my workers have been upgraded to Laborers. I don't know if that is the reason, but as soon as I upgraded most of my workers, the game has turned into a crawl graphically. The time between turns is the same as always (long, since I'm using all the civs on the huge map). But scrolling around my map now has all of the sudden become extremely slow. I can't think of anything else that has changed or added to my game recently to cause this sudden graphical slowdown. I am among 2 other nations in the tech lead and have just overtaken the Aztecs for the histograph lead. :king:

map: Kal-els 180x180 map (potentially this is Jarrett's modified map of same)
civ: Celts
researching: Social Contract
31 civs discovered - 6 destroyed so far
civ version 1.22
level: emperor
RAR version 1.00b11_full

I didn't have time to read all 30+ pages of this post. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

If anyone wants a save I've got it. Let me know.

Does the DYP site still have a 'testers' bulletin board? Been so long since I was there I couldn't find it.

For further clarification, I'm on RAR 1.00 on owain's, which came packaged in the download Full RAR v.1.00.11. And yes, it is just a desktop crash without any error messages.

@Algonacy: Welcome back . That problem has been known to rear its ugly head once in a while in games with an abundance of units, but I'd still like to see a savegame to make sure that's it, so please send it along to me if you can. (though you'll probably need to wrap it up in a zip-file, as my mailbox has a set of nasty limitations on filesize, filetype, etc...)

Edit: And sure, we still have a tester forum over at the other site. Email me if you can't find it, but it should be visible in the DYP forums once you've logged in :D

@Mungaf:   Owain's map packaged in the Full 1.00 file??? Now I'm confused - where did you download the full mod from? We didn't put any maps in the mod yet.

Just out of curiosity...has anyone beaten RaR on Sid? From the experience of the current Deity SG I am partizipating, I tend to say it is near impossible, but perhaps it is possible if you just vary the settings carefully enoug (and of course if your playing skills are excellent).

I am now very impressed with myself. I've just won a game of RaR on Sid level. And my starting position was on a 5 tile island with room for just one city. Save file should be attached to this post, end the turn, win by domination.
