The way you describe it, it is sadly impossible with the abilities of the editor.There is only a "requires elite naval unit" flag as prequesite, no option to specify a certain unit or amount of units.
The tourist flag works only for Small and Great Wonders (and due a bug also for improvemnts), but not for units, nor it is possible to have units influencing the amount of tourist revenue a wonder generates (only factor is time)

I know what you mean (CTP has this system), but sadly impossible, too - believe me, we would have already done that, if there would be a way ;)
You can only make certain units completly support free or influence costs via governments (support per unit, all units free, fixed amount free units or X units per town/city/metropolis free)
 
Weird. I look at the first post in this thread and it shows a downloadable for 1.00.b11. Then reading on I see a completely different downloadable deep in the thread which seems to be a RaR 1.01 with additional patches even. So what is going on here??

Is the subsequent release not sanctioned or something?? Why doesn't the original post reference the latest file??
 
1.01 is no full release, just a small patch; some bugfixes, updated 'Pedia, some rebalancing. And yes, it is sanctioned. :)

Note it adresses issues small enough most players won't ever notice. And, since it has no installer, it is better to not bother the non-fanatics with it (Isak is pretty busy atm, and he would be the one to bring it in a user-friendly format).
 
I am currently using the rar redux, from Rufus T Firefly. will I have problems when upgrading to the 1.02 patch.
 
I'm really interested in a smaller Earth map than Rhye's 180X180. I'm running on a 3.5ghz 2gigs of RAM and I find the late game to be way too long between turns. I just thought I'd through this out there. This is a fantastic mod, in fact it's the sole reason why I still play Civ3. Great job, keep up the good work.

140X140 with RaR resources (of course) would be ideal. If I knew anything about mod making I'd just do it myself. I really lack the time to pick it up unfortunetely.
 
Yes, a new version for all of you, and it's been made available for download by our generous host Thunderfall. Check the DYP/RAR Website for details.

What you won't see there yet though, is that we've already been made aware of an annoying bug. It seems that all Worker Strengths have been reset to zero, so workers will take a long time especially completing later Worker Tasks.

There is a fix for this problem - sort of an unofficial patch 1.03 - attached to this post. Once we're sure that this is the only major problem with 1.02, we will release 1.03 officially. :)


@Surge: Not sure, but if so, I'm sure that Rufus will be working hard to get it updated.

@Kal-el: You've only made them for the Vanilla Civ3 and PTW versions as far as I can remember, but it wouldn't be that mean a feat for someone to simply load one of those maps in the Conquests editor, together with the RAR ruleset, and then spread a few of the new resources and terrains across the map. Any takers for that assignment? :mischief:

(actually I believe someone was working on that in our tester forums, but not sure how long it's been since those maps were updated)

You need a shipyard: in RaR harbours don't allow upgrading, but trading and food enhancement only.
To build a shipyard, you have to research Naval Warfare.

I have problem with upgrade again : This time I can not upgrade warrior to Teutonic swordsman (Russia). I have iron in the city resource box and tried both barrack and palace to no avail....
How much upgrade cost ? May be I have no enough gold (only 22)

I was able to upgrade him only in the middle ages...Is it intentional ?

Warrior costs 10 shields, whilst Teutonic Swordman 30: so for the upgrade you need 60 gold.
In the General Settings of the scenario, Upgrade Cost is set at 3. This is the multiple used to determine the total upgrade cost for a unit. In your case, the base unit costs 10 shields and its upgrade costs 30, the difference is 20. Then, the exact cost for the upgrade is 60 shields (20 x 3 = 60).

BTW, I usually play RaR with the Scenario Editor in background...

I started the download at 730 this morning at 130 this afternoon it finished early. installed and I got a corrupt file message in the install program.. what gives..

Your internet connection most likely cut the connection to the server halfway through. Try using a download manager like www.getright.com to get the file. It will allow you to resume the download if it gets disconnected halfway through, so you won't have to restart from scratch.

And I'd like to extend that recommendation to all dial-up users. :)
 
I'm italian and I'm a neewbie. I apologize for all mistakes I'll do with my poor english.
I played the 1.00 basic version, as german, till it crashed for missing units files, so to fix it I started to enter the world of creating customization in c3c.
OK, now I downloaded the 1.02 version and all the extras (I'm dowloading the missing PTW files from civ3.com right now..) and I saw there are the missing buildings icons still.
While I was looking for them in the huge (I mean REALLY HUGE!!) forum dedicated to graphics, I saw many items with all features so I thought it's impossible you missed them. At least I read the RAR readme file and here I'm!
Now I know this is not the complete release and the question is:
When it will be probably out??
I made few changes at your buildings files as I hated to have the same icon for two different items:

new airport, so it's different from the air defense
new shypyard, so it's different from harbor
more icons for the arena
New sewer system, so it's different from sewer savage
replaced the windmill with the one found in the original c3c mods (without the part that looks like a key for old toys..)

I join the new two files as attachment.

I added few flavor units for germand too as:

Kubelwagen for Jeep
Sdkfz251 as motorized infantry
ME110N as bomber
Jagdtiger as upgrade of the Panzer IV (I don't remember if it is the modern armor, but anyway I made it as flavor unit of the corrispondent upgrading unit..), but probably I'll change it after checking what's coming with the WW2 scenario of PTW.
substituting the heavy artillery with the M102 howitzer grafics files so it's different from light artillery

But I'll add the file new mod only if someone is interested at it.


Now, I didn't read all the pages in this thread, so I don't know if I was talking about something new or not.
I go back to continue my job altering your buildings files I found new icons for Clausewitz on war and I'll try to add most of the missing icons in the tech tree (I've to read how to do it too)...

Thanks for the info and files. We've definitely missed some of the graphics - as you say the Graphics forum is really huge, and it's inevitable that we're always far behind on checking what new graphics are made available. :)

Some of the graphics are already on our long 'to-do' list, and we just haven't gotten around to adding them yet, but other graphics look like good alternatives for the mod.

A few are a bit problematic though, for example the Shipyard graphic, as that is very modern looking, but the RAR shipyard is already available in the Iron Age, so we're looking for something that looks a bit older (though of course it would be best to get one graphic for each era)

I'll go through your PCX files more thoroughly and try to get the ones we want to use in the next update. Meanwhile, feel free to post your suggestions here if you find more graphics you think we could use.

And if you want to make your own "mod to the mod", feel free to do that too, though it's probably easier to start a new thread like Rufus T. Firefly has already done the same for his RAR-Graphics mod. :cool:
