gagh. another mod i want to play and i can't. stupid internet shopping and (seemingly) endless waiting for stock to arrive!!!!

Some more detailed instructions for installing would be nice, not all of us are very profeceint at this particullary as to which folder to install the patch into.
 
The main install for v1.02 or the patch for 1.00 or 1.01 to 1.02 are .exes. That means when you click on the link to download it, save as it to your desktop. Then, double click it, and follow the instructions on the install wizard. It's completely automated. :)

I think that is a bug in Pic-0.1, or perhaps you have a special version of C3C - there is no Worker or F-15 folder in the Conquests/Art/Units folders, and there isn't supposed to be. The game will find the files just fine if they are in the Civ3PtW/Art/Units folder or even the Civilization III/Art/Units folder. :)


He meant the original Civ3 I suppose, and not C3C. In fact, PTW can't correct bugs in C3C, being it an earlier expansion :D

Is there a changelog of version 1.02 and 1.03 from 1.01 ? I modded 1.01 a bit (changed some Civs), it took a while and I would like to know if it's worth redoing everything with version 1.02/1.03.
 
For One dreamer..

Everything is started when I used Pic-1.01 to check the pediaicons.txt for this mod (so with C3 and C3C already installed) and I read in the Pic-1.01 report wrong links for the f-15 and modern workers.
Now we know it's not a bug in their file as I have two folders for both units (one in the main C3 the other in PTW) when it's supposed to be just one.

My C3 version is an english one (I bought it after someone told me about bugs in the italian version), but the C3C expansion pack is italian, but I took it as it's wrote it can support any languages. Of course my Windows XP home is italian too.
I don't know if all this mixed languages affected the installation of C3C...
 
When installing this mod:

Does this mean I have to download it again?

They probably did. Atari did an AWFUL job in distributing the game in Italy. Civ3 Vanilla I could find it only in italian. I never buy games in italian because I know the translations are crappy, simply because they are done with a dictionary or even worse a translator. Anyways I HAD to buy it in italian as there was no english version in Turin. When I bought PTW, on the box I read (I can scan it for you :p) : "fully compatible with both the italian and english version". Was it compatible with my italian version ? Absolutely not. Took me 1 minute to understand why: of course the english version of PTW looked for units path names in english, while I had them installed in italian. I didn't even bother to call the support and tell them what I thought about this crap... took me like 2-3 hours to rename all the darn italian unit folders and ini files into english, and several load/crashes of the game to understand what the proper translation of unitsin english was. Thank God C3C came in english/italian so I didn't have any problem with it.

It was working fine for me before I installed RAR 1.02 and exactly was working fine later too. Simply I found this funny result when I used for the first time Pic-1.01 checking my job of adding new units or graphics.

Try to check your Pediaicons.txt with Pic-1.01. I'm interested in the result.

most governments limit how much spending of any one type (science, luxeries, tax) by 50-90%
 
Because, like Hygro said, there is a cpa to any of the three (Sci/Lux/Tax) to not exceed e.g. 50% (in Chiefdom, other % for other govs.) ;)

If you set Lux to 0%, and lower Science below 50%, that of course means Tax >50%...so Science is reset to
100% - Luxury rate (hardly ever above 50%) - 50% Tax = usually 40%-50%.

Don't forget, you have only 2 sliders, but 3 values - Tax is simply 100%-Lux-Sci.
 
And it's an "exploit" that allows the human player to breach those limits but you'd need to do it every turn. So far I've never really had a problem with money in RAR so I don't even bother unless I'm dead broke for some reason. The limit is there for a reason and I have more fun just leaving it as it then trying to exploit it since the AI can't.

I just installed the update version of 1.02...

Can anyone confirm the following for me?

I noticed that all the worker values have changed from 100, 125, 175, etc. to zero.

Did this occur only in the update version or in both the update and full download? Any known reason why?

To check - use the editor to compare the work value in the middle left part of the unit editor screen... (below the attack and movement values)
 
first of all i would like to thank all the people who worked on this wonderfull mod, i just downloaded 1.02 and 1.03 both come with an extended biq version could anyone tell me what the diference is between the extended and the normal version.

Also after playing a few turns of the 1.03 extended biq version i found i was able to trade resources and luxuries even if the screen showed me as having '0' availlable for trade. Another minor issue is that when you load a saved game the last game you saved is not highlighted.

I am using the latest patch from Firaxis 1.22.
