Rise of Mankind 2.9 feedback and bug reports

Whenever I found a new city, there will automatically be a specialist (artist) assigned instead of an additional worked tile. This of course will leave the city not growing at all and the production is slow too. Switching on emphasize food on will only result in an additional worked tile if there are tiles with three or more food.
Is this intended like this?

It will do that untill it expands its culture, then start working normally.

Hey - so I'm not sure if this is a bug, because sadly I'm not getting an error message. Basically, when I load the mod it goes to the desktop for a moment (something it would do on another machine I played this on before starting), but instead of having it restart, nothing happens. At this point, it's basically like I never started Civ or RoM. Other mods and the base game appear to be unaffected.

Has anyone else experienced this and perhaps have a solution?

Any help is appreciated - Thanks.

I would urge you to try it again. I know I lost some credibility, since there were older versions (*cough*1.72*cough*) that did have stability problems, but 1.73 and 1.74 are pretty much solid as a rock; more stable than RoM.

RoM AI sucks. Let's just get that in the open. I'm advertising AND again, I know; but I've spent a lot of time improving the AI; it's probably one of the things I've focused the most on. I think you would really enjoy ROM 2.91 + AND 1.73k.

Hi Afforess,

Thanks for your reply, sorry for the delay in coming back. AND simply isn't for me. The prehistoric age is far too micromanaged and the level of specialisation simply didn't exist at that time, so I'm afraid it turned me off. I'm a big fan of historical (or prehistoric) accuracy which can make me tough to please!

Don't know if it has been mentioned before.

I'm playing with dynamic XP and its working fine. My units got experience depending on how good/bad my chances are. But its not working with the General points. I've fighted 2 big wars and I still stand on 70 points left for my first general (start is 72 points left). When I unclick the option in BUG screen then its working fine again. This seems to be buggy.

If your unit earns less than 1 XP (like 0.25), it will be added to the GG counter, but the counter shows whole numbers, so you need to earn enough fractional XP for it to move to the next whole number. ;)

I really earned a lot of XP (my best unit had 54 XP Points) but only 2 on the GG counter. It seems that this counter is only fed when I earn more than 1 XP point at once. I disabled this option and I got very fast my first general. So it seems to me buggy.

i have been debugging after the UnicodeDecodeErrors when playing with german language.

Spoiler errors like these :

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "BugEventManager", line 361, in _handleDefaultEvent
File "DynamicCivNames", line 101, in onBeginPlayerTurn
File "DynamicCivNames", line 177, in setNewNameByCivics

i found that simply removing all occurings of "CvUtil.convertToStr" seems to fix these, so strings tend to stay encoded as unicode.

i attach the changes i made here, but my testing was not too intensive, so maybe they need double checking.

hello,

For some reason, when I play custom game with this mod.v 2.91, my first interactions with a new civilization never load. The image appears of the leader, but not text or options ever loads so I'm stuck on that screen and have to quit out....any ideas of how to stop this?

Thank you

The "waiting for civili..." is a known problem with RoM 2.92 either wait for RoM 3 or try AND 1.74 with patch H either way you will loose the save game.

Another alternative is to switch to RoM-AND 1.75 but I don't like it myself so only include it here for completeness.

I have saved the ROM 2.92 file in the Mods folder in Program Files, but every time I try to open it up, I get an error message followed by a succession of messages concerning various civics. The message reads:

Failed Loading XML file xml\GameInfo/Civ4CivicInfos.xml. [.\FXml.cpp:133]Error parsing XML file-
File: xml\GameInfo/CIV4CivicInfos.xml
Reason: Element content is invalid according to the DTD/Schema.

Expecting: {x-schema:CIV4GameInfoSchema.xml}WeLoveTheKing.

I am currently running Windows XP and have BtS 3.19. Is there anything I can do to get ROM up and running properly. I would really like to get it working so I can also work with AND. Thanks.

This sounds like a bad download or you installed RoM 2.92 directly over a previous version. Try deleting the Rise of Mankind folder and doing a clean install first. If you still get the XML errors then download RoM 2.92 again.

Adding the wrong version of RoM Mods may also cause this problem, but you did not mention having any mods.

I have downloaded ROM 2.92 just fine, but when I load it up, there is no menu. All I see is animated graphic of Earth and ROM logo. There is no menu to do anything, even close the game. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi im running mac os x version 10.6.4

I keep getting XML failed to load messages and I have tried using the alt root fix by putting it in the python folder and no luck :(

I directly unpacked the mod to the civ 4 beyond the sword mod folder using stuffit expander so im not sure if it is just unpacked wrong but i doubt thats the issue anyone have any clues?
