Rise of Mankind 2.9 feedback and bug reports

Did you use autoupdate to 3.19 or installed from file? Did you install it in Documents or Program Files folder?

On the patch file there was no option to install to one place or another, so I assume it was installed to the Civ 4 installation folder.

On the "Beyond the Sword has stopped working" notification, it says that these 3 files describe the problem:

C:\Users\Daniel\AppData\Local\Temp\WER9E42.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
C:\Users\Daniel\AppData\Local\Temp\WERBB16.tmp.appcompat.txt
C:\Users\Daniel\AppData\Local\Temp\WERBD87.tmp.mdmp

After searching for all 3 files, I can't find any of them.

Could be a faulty RoM rar. Try downloading it again.

The 3 files only describes WER (Windows error reports) as far as I know, so not much there I think.

Wait, nevermind, now it can play the game, but it's just Beyond the Sword with "Rise of Mankind 2.91" in the top right corner.

I don't know if it is a bug.

Using merchant to do "trade mission" give me always 102 GP. I can send them in a little or big city, far or near... but I have always the same GP. Is it ok? Or there is something wrong?

Personally, I think it is a bug.:mischief: However RoM has worked like this for awhile.

I don't know if this is a bug or not, but whenever I change civics (like Monarchy or Democracy), my Empire's name never changes. I have the mod enabled in the Custom Game set up, but my name always remains "Empire of *blank*" instead of changing to "Kingdom of *blank*" or something else. Is this a bug or is it supposed to happen?

If I remember correctly you always become "The Empire of..." When you reach the population limit for the domination victory.

I have another problem. Once I reach 1950 on my map, the game crashes to the desktop and tells me that Civilization has stopped working. Any ideas?

Yes, this:

Please post bug reports and feedback from v2.9 to this thread.

About bug reporting:

1. If you find bug in the mod try to describe it in detail when you post about it. This helps me to locate it more accurately and faster.
2. About missing UI problem: Please post what Windows type and language version you are using. Also tell which one you are using, Beyond the Sword or complete Edition.
3. CTDs ie. Crashs To Desktop, try to provide as much information as possible what happened just before it occurred. Even better if you can upload save game file so I can take a look at it. If you are experiencing CTDs in late game, try reducing graphic settings, BtS is known to have crashes when saved games get big and when there's lots of stuff in late game - most common reason for CTD is that Civ 4 can't find enough free memory.
4. Some Civ4 Map scripts can not make maps for Giant or Gigantic map sizes.

BtS log files

To speed up finding possible causes for bugs, you can enable logging in BtS and attach zipped log files in this thread when you post about your findings.

To enable logging go to BtS folder and open Civ4Config. Check following options to these settings:

; Enable the logging system
LoggingEnabled = 1

; Overwrite old network and message logs
OverwriteLogs = 1

; Enable rand event logging
RandLog = 1

; Enable message logging
MessageLog = 1

Now when you start game, it logs everything to log files. When you exit the game, go to BtS folder, there should be Civ4logs, go there. Zip the log files in that folder and attach the zip file in your post so I can take a look at those files.

Known issues

* If resource display is enabled and you reload the game, regenerate map or just alt+tab from fullscreen and back, the resource display gets bugged. Haven't figured what causes the bug.

Thanks. I'll post whatever information I can find the next time my game crashes.

RoM has a huge amount of content and graphics so giant and gigantic may just be too big for your machine or the way the civ engine uses your machine. Don't know about scenarios. Which one(s) were you trying?

"Butchery" possible to construct in the presence of "Granary"
"Modern Granary" replaces the "Granary"
"Butchery" can not be built if there is "Modern Granary"

This is a bug?

I agree, even if you have a higher end puter if you play on those type of maps, after about Medieval era, you get soooo much lag time inbetween turns it just isnt fun to play. Heck i get alot of lag time on a standard map in Medieval era just playing 8 civs lately, and i have a really high end puter.

I wonder if too much content is going into the module area, if that could be that cause lately?

Hi, I am running BoS 3.91, downloaded ROM 2.91 and unzipped it as suggested. When I try to load the mod, I am getting a whole load of error messages. Eventually the mod loads but all the controls are missing from the screen. I attach the print-screens of these errors and would be very grateful if you could help me to troubleshoot. I am running OS X 10.6.3.

Thanks,

Endre

This mod does not work on Mac's. You must use the PC version of the game.

Crossover and Boot camp are your sole solutions (well wine too, but...)

Thank you for the advice. Well, I am running vmware so it should be possible to install the PC version, provided that it is less resource hungry than it is on the Mac. Thanks again.
