They must be using the old babel fish then. Cos they never pull out a box labelled UT to talk to aliens. Still the show would be very boring if everyone spoke Clingon, although it seems some fans would understand that. Don't get me wrong I grew up on that show and am still quite happy to suspend my disbelief. I recently bought the boxed set of the first Star Trek and my eleven year old boy loved it, we had a great time watching them together

I wAs thinking about creating a list of these units and making abreviations for them.
A 2 letter designation unless more letters Are needed to distinguish it from another.
For me I like renaming my units And use as little of the default name as possible

Neil Young is actually Gene Roddenberry. Yup, you can tell by the way he lightly taps his chest whenever he talks to himself. And the lyric goes "It's better to burn them up, so phaser away...".
