Rise of the Reichstag: A German IAAR

Please don't bring that in here  It's hard enough to contain it in America

Are you going to let the Karlings stay alive if they continue to be elected or are you going to kill them off?

Election of 972 A.D: One Small Step

Disclaimer:
1. -These candidates and many more in the future are not and will not be entirely historical. Many will be either purely fictional, real but anachronistic, or inspired by real people.
2. -Additionally, this game progresses on Normal speed, meaning each candidate will only rule for a short amount of time. (Each turn takes ten years until 1400 AD. The current year is 980 in-game, 972 in-universe)
3. -All locations (ex. 1W, 5N) are relative to the starting location. (Berlin)
4. -If a certain policy is not stated in a candidate's information, (ie. Change tech to Engineering) then that specific policy will likely remain the same as his predecessor.
5. -Not all game terms will be stated like game terms. Phrases like "Wishes to develop an ocean-faring ship design" will roughly equate to "Research Optics"

Candidates:

Ruling Dynasty

Konrad - Karling

Information
Returning for his second bid for kingship, Konrad has matured into a brilliant tactician. Unfortunately for him, his weakly physique restricts him to the sidelines. To add on to his misfortunes, a childhood accident left him essentially sterile. However, he is known as a charismatic and brilliant orator, charm unmatched in Europe. He plans to redirect the band of settlers north, to Riga. (3E, 3N) Konrad would also like to create closer ties with our French neighbors, while peacefully solving the border tensions near Hamburg. He lays out in detail precautionary measures to strengthen the city garrisons.

Reichstag

Albrecht - Wettin

Information
Albrecht is a Wettin, the Duke of Saxony, second of his name. His father became Duke after the death of the last Liudolfinger (von Liudolf), Otto. Albrecht plans to encourage Hamburgers to stay by a quick stimulus in culture. He also wants to capitalize on Germany's production capacity by building forges around the Kingdom.

Leopold - Babenberg

Information
Leopold Babenberg is the Duke of Austria and a very, very, very rich man. Through his wealth, he has managed to conquer his rivals and wants to integrate into Germany. He believes that the Hamburg problem can be solved by itself, but would rather invest into city improvements. Would use the settler to settle Wien. (0, 3S)

Jan - Piast

Information
Jan is the Duke of Poland, and a good friend of the former King. He sees Poland as a region with much untapped potential. Would use the settler to settle the Lithuanian regions. (4E, 2N) Also plans to send a scouting expedition eastward.

Boleslav - Přemyslid

Information
Boleslav is the former Duke of Bohemia (Now the Count of Prag) and a military veteran. Lost most of his land to Babenberg Austria, but still has an optimistic outlook. Noticeably young and very ambitious. He wants to halt the recruitment of the settlers for the construction and training of offensive military regiments. Would also look into more efficient siege and castle designs.

What if Karling were to adopt a son? It wouldn't be a bloodline and I know it's taboo at the time but it would be his best chances of continuing his ruling style.

FOR BASEBALLPIE ONLY
Spoiler :
Oh okay cool thanks! I'm on fire today! :p Can't wait to see how this turns out!

I'm going to extend voting (again) until 7:30 A.M EST (11:30 A.M UTC) Tuesday Morning. I just can't close voting with only 5 votes.

OK guys, I'm gonna level with you. What am I doing wrong with the story? I have a small core of viewers, but even some of them aren't voting. How can I attract voters? It's just not working, and I'm even starting to consider outright ending the story. Any advice would be appreciated, but I really don't know where to go right now.

5 voters isn't bad at all! I barely had anyone voting at first in Brazil, now look at it. You just need to keep at it and remember, you cannot force popularity. It just happens. :D

I think you're doing great. The only reason you might have for fewer voters is because you infrequently update thus your viewers don't check in a lot.

I admit I'm not active on this story as much as I would like, but life is hard and full of appointments, so I try to keep an eye on most stories at least a little.

Think the other way around, only you and Noyyau are rping anything on my Iroquois story (Moai and Mrrandomplayer have left long ago), so at least you got 5 voters! :goodjob:

Try to take a look at the most popular stories and take some ideas from them. You may even ask the writers about it and get even more ideas.

I know for example I'm not a good writer (and even worse when writing in english), so my stories could never (or at least until I learn how to properly write in english) get much attention from the writing. That's why I tried to use many pics and Photoshop to make things more interesting.

Making it interactive is another way of attracting people, but it has its limits too (and these limits aren't easy to discover). Also no interactivity can also make good stories, do you remember the Congo Story by Lone Wolf? It had 0 interactivity, but he did a good job writing and it fitted his purposes. It was a fast story but popular nonetheless.

Pics/Screenshots are something that may help or not. Try to see the good examples and bad ones to discover what helps and what doesn't.

Those are my tips. Oh, and if you try an interactive sort of story, prefer modern over ancient/medieval. It seems people get interested easier in modern ideologies (Capitalism, Communism and Fascism) then in managing Holy Wars, Slavery and Monarchs.

People are just generally busier with everything starting up, including school. Don't be discouraged :D Also I seemed to have accidentally started a revolt in my Ethiopia story  Just let things go and they will prosper on their own, and if it isn't super-popular that's okay! You don't need RT's America level of voting because at the end of the day it's about you. Are you enjoying it? If not then either somehow change it up or end it. If you are enjoying it then ask yourself this, is everyone else enjoying it? I certainly am. :D

To Spirictum, your English is very good actually. I haven't read your stories but you have as good of English and even better than a lot of people I know, and I live in America :p

I understand what you mean, and thanks for the compliment!

But actually my problem comes from my late 'teenages', when my vocabulary in portuguese got so better in such a small time, while I stopped taking english classes and interacting in any place I had to force myself to write in english.

That resulted in a better way of formulating phrases in portuguese, but with that I restarted thinking in portuguese while trying to formulate things in english. And that's terrible. The best way to talk in a foreign language is to think on it, rather then thinking on your mother language and translating everything in your mind.

So this actually means I get frustrated when I can't use words that better express what I want to pass because I have no idea how to use a similar structure in english.

Also the 'latinization' that speakers of languages derived from latin use to do frustrates me as well. Many times I use a word considered 'polished' in english just because the translated word in portuguese is a common one and has the same root from latin.

Aside from that, I was never good in Narration and Description, only in Argumentation, so my way of writing is not as interesting as I would like it to be. With even less vocabulary in english, many times I may confuse the readers.

Reading other people's stories and writing is how you get better though :D The more you read and write the better you get. I learned a lot from RT because Civ stories are very different than narrative stories on a piece of paper because these stories people are actually reading and not just the teacher  It's also different and maybe easier because you don't have to describe a picture, since you already have the picture. It just takes time. I just have a talent for writing narratives, I have no idea where I got it from  It just takes time. Also reading plenty of fiction that are post-apocalyptic or during the apocalypse helps because those stories focus more on the big picture. I would recommend reading some novels (if you can find them) like The Giver, Uglies, 1984, Animal Farm, etc. They are all incredible books. I'm not expecting you to but if somehow you have the time and the ability I would go for it. But I know you're busy.
