-----------------------

My first impression is SMAC-Data Angel type. End up we got Rhine basin-based Anti-Elodie :)

--- EDIT ---
Rhine basin => Lotharingia w/o Burgundy => Switzerland + West Germany (assume FI cover all of France) + Netherlands

So another European sponsor?

Or does new continental refer to the fact that Antarctica is colonized, became a sponsor and is sending a spaceship too?

Hmm, so after the complaints that there is no Germany in vanilla BE, Rising Tide gives us 1,5 German factions.
And once again Europe is overrepresented.
But I like the direction of this new faction and that based around my home state. They even mention Cologne. Can't rally say I like the character design...

Speculation about their UA ?
The environmentalist and direct democracy angle could mean anything, but give the fact that they are most likely not the second maritime faction I am pretty sure they get some bonus around diplomatic capital.

Maybe she gets one free trait for each 10 traits/upgrades. :mischief:

So we now have a faction for North America, South America, Africa. "Half" for Oceania.
Three and "a half" for Asia w/o Russia, and 4 for Europe + SlavFed, despite everyone is more or less equal in technology?

Yeah, Sound like typical Civ series :)

This is the world map which respects proportion.

South America has only got one sponsor but Europe will get 4 ( 4.5 if you count slavic confederation )

I won't talk about Africa , 600 years later, they are still so poor, they can only afford to get one sponsor into the space....

And African's Union ... So much sense, Algeria, Morocco, Libya and Egypt have got the same culture as Benin, Togo, Guinea which have got the same culture as South Africa or Madagascar.

And don't talk me about economy backwardness when China did show us that you can become a strong economy from scrap in 60 years, and USA in 250 years ...

Nice, but now I'm thinking that this sponsor will get FI's UA and FI will have a new UA pertaining to diplomacy.

I would count Al-falah as half african, half asian... But yes I do agree that Europe is overrepresented again.

I don't expect that this new German-based sponsor will have an UA that is sea/ocean related. So the remaining sponsor will have the sea related UA and probably a male as leader (if the 50%-50% gender representation still holds).

Is it just me, or does she have somewhat of a transgenderish look to her? If so: Big props to Firaxis for including such a char without making it her defining attribute. ...but now I'll be really sad if she's not. :D

Anyway. There we have our Diplomatic Sponsor... so the last one will be... a water-based... Sponsor that likes to dig up Artifacts?

I think you misunderstood something : Middle East doesn't mean half african half asian

I was assuming that al-falah was an Arab based sponsor, but if it is stated literally somewhere from official sources that it is only middle-eastern, then you are right...

Also the capitals name and the sponsors name are arabic, but it is not enough to conclude something...

I didn't really get your point or I misunderstood it. You think that arab ( which is a language ) is enough to generate a cultural continuum ? Because I fail to understand the link between Morocco and Syria.

Nevertheless, there can be new alliances in the future but here, what I don't understand :

Some need to create improbable inter cultural and ethnic alliance to pull out a sponsor and some can pull it out with 2 or 3 countries alliance ...

And of course, the last ones are mostly European based ...

If this faction doesn't get a science bonus then no one will.

They most certainly will get a Diplo Capital bonus.

My first thought at seeing her was "angry lesbian", but transgender is believable to, we'll have to carefully dig through the leader quotes for clues I guess :)

Also my money for the last sponsor is on Antarctica. It melted during the great mistake and is now one of the most resource rich and fertile areas on Earth.

Arabic is the language which is used mainly in the Arab world. Arab as I used it was a reference to the panethnicity/panculture. You are mentioning morocco for example which is ethnically not Arab, but still considers it part of Arab world as they are in the Arab league:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_League

This organization is not only intended for cultural aspects but also politics, economic and military. So yes there is a cultural continuum for an panarab sponsor. Especially if you consider that the panasian sponsor is incorporating the Vietnamese, Mongolian and Korean cultures too, as there are city names in the language of the mentioned cultures.

The reason that I dislike the term middle-eastern for al-falah is that it could also mean that it would incorporate the persian and/or the turkish culture/ethnicity, while the sponsor doesn't show any attributes from those cultures from known information until now. The name of the sponsor and the capital is Arabic and the leader is also Arab looking. So for my sense from the given information it feels like that al-falah is an Arab sponsor, not a middle-eastern one.

But this becomes a bit off topic now, but I hope it is clear for you now.

Back to topic: would this new sponsor be only a Rhine-based sponsor or incorporate also Austria for example?

Why is Europe over represented? It is the global hub of ethnicities and apparently where the money is in this timeline. ;)
If anything the other continents are under represented.

And African's Union ...

South America has 13 Countries and gets 1 sponsor.
Europe has more than 40 Countries and gets 3.5
Seems about right. :)
And African Union is a sub saharan union, so no Egypt, Algeria e
