I might play it tonight if not too tired.
Won't be able to report properly until 36 hours unfortunately. I'll write a short summary.
 
I have all my drivers up-to-date, don't worry.
I'll be reinstalling tomorrow so I should be able to play next round ;)
 
First I notice our capital really looks strange.. size 3 w. 2 scientists???
After some calculations, I see that we'll never pop 2 GS (unless switching to caste syst and loosing slavery : no way) until gunpowder.
Besides, using a GS on paper is a waste since it's a cheap tech.
I therefore fire the scientists and grow our capitol back.

Behold the mighty tale of the battle of Sparta :

As there are 2 CG1 archers, I decide to try the gambit : I suicide our 2 CR1 axes, wounding the archers (0,3 and 2 Str remaining). Our CR3 axe wipes out the strong arch, but is badly wounded. And soon...

On next turns however, a greek sword and phalanx (both combat 2) come by, and KILL THE HEALTHY AXE AND BOTH SPEARS!!!
Some hope shows up : cyrus, at war with Alex sends some rienforcements. Besides, the greek are badly wounded and our remaining axe is at 3/4 health. I decide not going for peace yet.

And the redlined (1,5 Str) swordsman attacks our scout... and LOOSES!!! :lol:

And this mighty action is rewarded with our first Great General.


We therefore keep Sparta, and I immediately declare peace for some cash, leaving Cyrus in charche of kicking Alex's butt (more on that later) since rienforcements are too far away.


Now guess who's putting cultural pressure on the new town, by the way... Alex?

Okay, the rest of the set was more builder-oriented : we'll need a good infra to max out the janissaries once they become available.

As soon as CS was discovered, I switched to beaurocracy, and globally let the cities grow while building infra.


On foreign affairs :
Augie came by and asked us to stop trading with big B. As he's more powerful and a bit friendlier, I accepted.

The political situation is quite messy on the western border, with Arbela close to our Sparta and the northern Gold + Incense greek city. But soon Cy and Alex decide to settle the matter and simply swap towns :D

In between, Cy tries to grab our city site I was postponing. The city is founded in a hurry, it can become a decent production town.

I rebuilt some (bronze-based) military, and courthouses (we'll need that FP soon when we go janissary rampage), and more workers, who started chain irrigating food low sites.
Sparta is motherland yearning unhappy, but not under cutural presure (Arbela still belongs to Alex, and I juist whipped a Lib in it). We should eradicate greece soon.
After gunpowder we' can backfill very quickly for Iron, calendar and such basic stuff. Last time I checked, no one had alphabet yet, which is good for our tech lead.

We have still a GG to burn. I do't know if heroic epic is available, XP-wise, so I kept the guy, being unable to decide as well what our military city will be (I vote for Gaul, though :))

Next player will discover Gunpowder, lucky bastid. Soon we will rule the planet with our mighty Janissaries.

Since we have Education a Military Academy in whatever town becomes our military depot is a good use for the Great General. Combined with the HE and a DI or two you'll have quite the troop trainer

I think the Academy would be best for now to start cranking out an army. Once the warring starts, we should get another GG quick enough for a Medic III unit.

yikes :( Sorry bout that, i should have focused on military more...

It seems that we will loose that city, but as well the copper. Therefore (might be a question of shere survival), we should go and discover IW and pray for some in capital or elsewhere.

Gaul is a bit far away but could do some nice place for the GG.

Seeing the forces in presence, maybe we should recenter on our 3 northern cities, and unfortunately let that bastid take the southern ones and pillage us.

We can only hope he will divide his forces and we can guerilla him out of here, while rebuilding a sizeable army. Maybe the janissaries will come handy right on time...
BTW, could Augie be bribed to war w. Brennus? He's his worst ennemy, and has quite a few prats running around.

lurker's comment: Leading troops as a warlord is no option for you? I mean giving leadership promotion and free upgrades for some units can be of quite some help, imho.

The absolute best use for the GG is a Military Academy since we have Education. Attaching him to a troop will only get him killed.

Just those two units for now. We've got some more units coming down from the south.

All in all, it didn't go as bad as I thought it would've. There was nothing behind that stack this time, so we pulled through with a small loss in the end. not too shabby.
