Role Play Challenge: Hannibal's Deal with the Devil!

Well, the sugar is going to rot if no one harvests it, so you might wander across it that way :)

Domination under free market with corps, Infantry & Artillery?!? :-D

Or would it be a Cavalry rush ? :-P

This is almost like a Skipper game, and those are HARD. I think fishing really is one of the worst ones. At least you can get AL. Infantry RAMPAGE!

no sailing has quite dramatic impacts later on in the tech tree.

no sailing,
no calendar,
no compass
no optics
no astronomy
no physics
no medicine

which means your tech tree ends with fascism, assembly line, communism, biology and combustion. no electricity or physics rule out all techs after these.

Didn't believe but it's true. The tech tree ends here.

So, this game should be an early game. Cultural will be too late, people will run over you. You can't build the UN and the AI doesn't prioritize it, and obviously no Space Race, so Conquest or Domination.

Yes we know....

What happens if the game lasts to the point where the only research option is Sailing? Is this a loss?

Then he will have to run a 0% per cent Science Slider and remove any specialists creating beakers.

I will clarify everything with this! Making a deal with the devil makes things "Interesting" on each side of the contract ;)

No idea what will occur, but understand in my view Hannibal is one of those leaders with NO ethics or Morals!

Why not just trade for all of the techs that need sailing? I didn't see tech trading off.

Cheat then.

This is a VERY fun map to play! :)

Spoiler :

I moved my warrior NW thinking that might give me more info than W or SW, and what did I spy in this distance? Gold!!! Hey this is marathon, so I decided to take a big gamble and headed for the gold with my settler. This paid off massively - 2 gold hills, tons of floodplains, and copper in the BFC! Plus, I'm right next door to Lincoln.

I'll post more details later, but suffice it to say that I took Lincoln out early (worker stealing, multiple DOWs, and catching his first settler flat-footed as it came ou of Washington), built the GW (massive chops in Washington as soon as it came out of revolt), REXed to 7 cities (mostly captured barb cities), got a HUGE tech lead early. Oh, and Lincoln founded hinduism for me! Monty and Peter DOWed me just as I got maces (I already had wellies and cats), so I wiped out their stacks, took 450 :gold: for peace, and DOWed Pete. He's down to 2 crap cities in 630AD, I'm teching engineering, and Monty is going for aesthetics  with an army of axes, swords, and chariots. This should be fun!

this could be quite a tricky one, its generated a lot of interest though.
2 pages and Mad hasn't even settled yet!

Hannibal's Deal with the Devil: Part I

Ah folks, the devil can certainly tempt you right away! Fish right there for the taking and we have the technology!. But He thinks it would better to move our warrior first

Argh, tis' a desert hill. Not looking good for a productive internal empire.

Bah, let's settle ontop of that funny looking tile there, good for 3 commerce with the financial trait!

HanA0001.jpg

And we meet the first rival of ours!

HanA0002.jpg

I pushover if I hear the rumors correctly, but where be this American gent.

HanA0003.jpg

Pretty damned close, with a nice landlocked capital. Within RUSHING distance if yer vermin follow me drift.

Speaking of rushing, well it plum slipped me mind!

Tech: BW/wheel/agriculture/AH/Pottery/Mysticism

And before we find the results of BW, another leader

HanA0004.jpg

Arghhhhh, more fodder for the Cartheginian army!

Like I was saying, dost we have copper.

HanA0005.jpg

We do, We do!

And here we spout of our mouthes about always letting the population grow before building a settler. But here we aint got no land to work, so we grow to Population 2, build a worker, then chop out our first settler, looking to beat the Americans to the copper

HanA0006.jpg

Aye mateys! We quickly build a mine and road!

But doest we have have horses!

HanA0007.jpg

Aye, we do, we do.

SO we stopped right there after Mysticism with some decisions to make. Most importantly, what to research next

HanA0008.jpg

Those Numidean cavalry units look mighty tempting about now! Strong anti-melee units with a free promotion!

Our other question be what to do about the American?

Do we want to try Masonry and make a run at the Great wall which would be mighty useful when bringing troops across the great land bring the devil has promised us! Or do we go and chop/chop/chop out a massive axe force and storm America. How about that Stonehenge I hear about and the free culture/happiness in each city!

What be all yer opinions on these fine decisions!
