Role Play Challenge: Paranoia!

OK, Can someone confirm that post #143 has the final save to use?

Nope, hang on a second.

These people were all to nice. I mean your empire is running lush for floodplains over non-desert tiles and tons of gems and gold and you got Astronomy for free while Napoleon's lands have been all but flooded. I'll post a "ballanced" save for you in a minute. :mischief:

Edit: THIS is the save for you to use. (write-up/backstory coming soon)

Gotcha!

But just remember, if I lose the RPC fails and the gods have nothing to do!

One last piece of blackmail from the noble Ethiopians! Zara is NOT above trying to manipulate the gods :mischief:

On the offshore island of Cristo, the inhabitants lived lives separate and cut off from the civilized folk on the continents. However they were not separated from the worldly concepts of greed and power, and their leader, a dark shaman who does not go by a name, had heard from the oceans and stars that a great power laid sleeping inside the statue that decorated his island.

Hoping to control this power for himself, he ordered his citizens to begin hammering apart the statue to unleash its potential. But they had barely broke the surface when suddenly a massive blast of cold and ice exploded from the statue and froze all nearby. The survivors of the barbaric island huddled away in fear as the ice spread throughout all the nearby seas and oceans, surrounding the entire continent with ice. The lives of the Ethiopian fishermen, the foreigners trading goods from overseas, the retreat of ships from Napoleon's fleet, all frozen to an icy halt from which there is no escape.

Man, I hope Mad didn't just take the previous save and cruise down to an overpowered advantage. You guys were insane, stacking those up! If he didn't catch this save in time, oh well... but here's what happened. Edit: He got it, good. :)

First of all, I didn't actually negatively effect his lands or screw up anyone else's changes. All his super-powered cities are safe and untouched (other than losing some empty coast/ocean squares) and he still has access to all his seafood. His outside units like the pillagers are intact, Napoleon's fleet and army are trapped with him and the barbarian island to the southwest is still accessable.

He did lose all trade routes and resource trade with the outside world. (had to delete a few of justin's minor cities to remove culture access) Also the icy blackness has reset his maps... though a few trades can probably fix this. This should keep him safe from any more foreign invasions. :)

Also everyone is free to "melt" the ice next save, he does not need to be locked up forever!

Creative! I like it! Good idea! :goodjob:

I think at least some ice should melt next round.

Spoiler :
Remove 50 ice every round.. That should be interesting to say the least.

Spoiler :
So wait, did we just decide to cover all the oceans in seas of Ice? I just a little confused

Spoiler :
No, this is pretty much a free for all where you (as an insane god) can do whatever you want as long as you don't kill off what other people did right behind you or make the game unwinnable... you could kind of tell there was no order to it as people were just tossing mad bonus upon bonus. So it was just a spontaneous decision.

Plus only the oceans directly around mad are covered in ice. :)

To be honest I don't think the ice will even hurt him too much... he has a lot of super-floodplains and high-commerce jewelry, he might not even miss the lack of foreign trade. We'll see.

OMG!!! I just looked at the map!!

What the hell are the gods doing! No wonder why Zara is Paranoid!

Gotta love it! ;)

Wow this is fantastic! Great idea for this and well done so far!

Spoiler :
Might be a suggestion, if Mad improves to the point where it looks like he's cruising, to give a civ he is at war with an ICBM or 2

OMG!!! I just looked at the map!!

Let's summarize this turn so I can remember:

UWHabs: Made a barbarian cove captured by Ramesses very fertile, replaced the mountains in Egyptian land to hills with gold; replaced various mountain ranges he placed earlier with hills and lakes; created a peninsula for the threatened city, gave it a wall and horse archer defense; added more seafood
BakingTheArt: Made threatened city size 7 and gave Napoleon an army of ten swordsman right next to it
Sian: Broke out global war between Judaist, Buddhist and Hindu factions
apenpaap: Removed the jungle hiding the French stack, removing forests and spreading drought to French lands
Fetch: For successful hut quest, free Optics tech, free Astronomy tech, free harbors everywhere, given third seafood resource; gave three super-pillagers to mad in French lands, who must be used to pillage only
DiamondEye: Spread buddhism to all ethiopian and egyption cities, gave a few powerful units to Egypt, Ethiopia, and France
matthewthegreat: Gave all mad's cities without courthouses one for free, gave cities with courthouses already +1 pop; free observatory in Yeha
Paulus III: Removed all religions from Netherlands; gave Justinian better land and free cataphracts, gave Ethiopia a free cataphract
NoDot: For successful metal quest, metals appeared in several hills throughout mad's empire (copper, iron, gold, silver, gems, etc), changed some plains to grasslands deserts to plains (including desert under floodplains)
Tank151: Froze the waters around French harbors
BakingTheArt: Gave two corn resources to every French city
asder2: Severe flooding and rising sea levels in French territory
Joshua368: Encased Mad's freakin' continent in ice. :)

No no, the gods aren't insane. They just work in mysterious ways.

Paranoia!: PArt V

As Zara looks in horror at what has happened, his heart hardens! "We shall prove of worth and show how powerful the ethiopian people are!"

The Imediate thing Zara finds is

ZaraE0000.jpg

Well our new city has grown greatly in population! I guess all that added heat came directly from the ocean causing it to freeze over. Zara also notices that the French foes has magincally increased although there are additional troops arround, but not in the city beseiged! Oh sure we have a great navy now that can be immediately upgraded to Galleons, but that does not help with the city defesne. Well, Zara sends the fleet off to protect the seafood (Zara certainly does NOT remember all that seafood, guess it came with the ice.)

Speaking of ice

ZaraE0001.jpg

Zara laughed at the god's foolishness gifting him optics and astronomy. Until he realizes that all this ice has effectively BLOCKED HIM OFF FROM THE DAMNED WORLD!

Cannot trade resoruces or get trade routes. Note to oneself, target banking.

Speaking of which, our techpath: education/banking.economics.

Also Zara finds some super pillagers Just outside of French lands.

ZaraE0002.jpg

Zara was so happy he immediately send them into French lands to get to work and lost 2 right away!!! The last longbow did wipe out alot of French mines though before he me his ultimate fate. The Galleon helped in blockading a French city.

Zara also found the world

ZaraE0003.jpg

At each other's throats!!!! Sure he's got a war with Abe and Joao going, but can you say ICE-BLOCKADE!!!!

Also techs are looking a little better here.

ZaraE0004.jpg

Still some work to. Also by thet way, I don't remember building all those harbors, but I am getting a little older!

We took peace with Honest Abe first, and pulled off this trade

ZaraE0005.jpg

Gotta love Abe, always good for a fair trade!

So what happened with the French troops??? I basically suicided my 2 horase archers against the stack to weaken the catapults. I also used the Cataphract, and dragged those war-chariots over. As soon as the chariots came, Napolean attacked killing one of our longbows, 1 chariots, and the Cataphact. All worth it as the Stack dies, and with limited French reinforcements...

I also upped 2 Galleys to Galleons and wipred out the French fleet.

We then popped

ZaraE0006.jpg

Which we sued to bulb most of eduation for trade fodder (liberalism is too far away and Pacap had education).

After education

ZaraE0008.jpg

So we have a little leverage here now. So we pulled off a few trades

ZaraE0009.jpg

ZaraE0010.jpg

Before finally making peace with Napolean and Joaoa! The rest of world seams content in further warring, but being Isolated we are sort of limited in what we can do.

Of course we did get a map of the world, or specifically the other side of the world.

ZaraE0013.jpg

Another helpful trade with our fine Egyptian friends

ZaraE0014.jpg

Joao was also willing to make some trades

ZaraE0015.jpg

And Justinian

ZaraE0016.jpg

And hell, even tech leader Pacal was lloking for some

ZaraE0017.jpg

At this point Zara decided to settle what land was left before the gods decide to put some nuclear fallout there or something.

ZaraE0018.jpg

ZaraE0019.jpg

Food does not really seam to be an issue, and I will not complain there.

To Be Continued

Paranoia!: PArt V

FINALLY, with some Galeons we bring our well promoted melee units against the island nation with the tall God-Statue

ZaraE0020.jpg

ZaraE0021.jpg

Nabbing us

ZaraE0022.jpg

Freedom from Anarchy!!!!

So we changed civics

ZaraE0023.jpg

Dropped a few more cities

ZaraE0024.jpg

ZaraE0025.jpg

Finished teching economics and saved. Looking at the next tech to research

ZaraE0026.jpg

Zara ponders this. Do we look towards a better military, or more variable techs considering we are now a Spiritual leader!

A view of our iceBurg, I mean civilization

ZaraE0027.jpg

And techs

ZaraE0028.jpg

Zara remains content though, as he was able to turn alot of the god's wrath into uses for the Ethiopian people such as a protective wall of ice and the gift of Anarchy. Yet he still does not trust any of them and would be just as happy to see them disappear. "What more mush we endure".
