Yep, it's coming. Just read the review at Gamespot. Graphics are outdated but RTK isn't about graphics. Seems like it's likely the best in the series. :D

Gamespot link is here. Read it before they lock it. ;)

Of course in the Japanese ver, it's up to VIII or IX already.

Comments? :)

Looks great, In fact I was just playing II on SNES this weekend but hopefully this new one that comes out wont get stupid or I may have to just still stick with two :p
But I AM going to get it when I can.

Cool....but I hate game spot! :D

Man...I really need a PS2 now....or I just might borrow my little bros for a long time (he lives in a different house so he might not like this idea ;)).

Looks fantastic.

I still prefer III, played on my old SNES, the first version where LuBu could actually be used without turning traitor. ;)

PS never really seemed to bother with TBS, or many strategy games, nice to see Koei is still making them.

Still waiting for an update of Bandit kings. :yeah:

Yeah, Lu Bu was only good in # II to get the 50 troops from him in the first round. :)

Man, I just might need to fire up an emulator or break out my SNES (it is sitting under the TV right now)....I feel the craving for some RTOK II!!!

Remember to take Loyang (area 10) early and often, for lots of special gifts. ;)

I play it yesterday. You choose to play one of the > 500 characters in the game. If you choose a liege (Liu Bei, Cao Cao) the game look like the others. But you can also play a warlord, a prefect, a simple officers or a ronin.

Alcibiaties of Athenae if you like Lu Bu you gonna love the game.

It is also my favorite character in series so I choose him in the "Dong Zhuo tyranny" scenario. I ended up leading a 14000 cavalry in a battle agaisnt Yuan Shao and I was appointed prefect of the cities of Ru Nan.

Sometimes the liege oragnize a tournament between his best fighter. Naturaly I win every time :goodjob:.

Yeah, my friends and I figured that out a long time ago....we used to divy the spoils between us all...it got fierce sometimes when someone would "cheat". :) I can imagine a game of diplomacy being like our 4 player games of ROTK2. :)

Isn't RoTK2 available for the PC? My housemate has the files on his PC. ;)

On-topic, I tried looking for it in M'sia but it wasn't around yet. :(

There is a PC version of RTKII somewhere out there, as well NES and SNES emulators as well.

The emulators are cool because they have the music as well as the game, the music is often missing from the PC versions of some game.

Tonberry: Yes, sounds quite good, I doubt any could beat ol LuBu, maybe only Zhang Fei. ;)

The PC version you are refering to is probably the Windows version. There is also a DOS version of ROTK2 and boy is it ugly!! :D

We need to play ROTK2 online sometime. I have the rom and the program called SNES9x. The latest version (and maybe some of the others, I have no idea) allow you to play up to 5 ppl online for multiplayer games.

I was referring to the DOS ver. Didn't know there was a Windows ver for #2. I only have the #4 one for Win. Well, RoTK isn't really renowned for its graphics anyway. :)

Add : PH, how did you get that avatar!?

TF is letting me try it out, he has one also...the cool dragon. I have Sun Jian from RTOK 3 or 4.

Get SNES9x and the rom and let's play sometime.

You can count me out. I have never played RoTK2. ;) Only 3 and 4 on the PC and that was a long time ago. I still play 4 occasionally, when I can find the cd. It's... somewhere.

Ah, yeah, ROTK2 was very diferent. Only one type of troop and instead of taking over cities it was providence based. I like it because it is simple and I remember the years of fun my friends got out of it and Nobunaga's Ambition. The game got a lot more complex with 4 people playing at once...like a game of Diplomacy...but I think I have said that elsewhere. :)

II was very simple to play, and had some cool features, in fact, in many ways it was better then later verions, in this one they killed off generals when they really died 9so you don't get Zhou Yu all game, for example).

The game reputation driven, if you could get your leader's rep to 100, his generals got very loyal (although with every ruler but Lei Bei it would lesson over time).

III is still my personal favorite though, I even won as the lame old guys in the later scenarios, and also won as LuBu (killed Sun Ce for the ruler's seal), piece of cake. ;)

Ah, you can take items away in ROTK3? I might have to try that one out again. I didn't really like the battles in it when I played it years ago....
Also, I just found this little cheat on ROTK2. You can keep a general alive for an extra year after they get their falling start omen. On December of the year they are goign to die get them into a battle that takes longer that 1 month to complete....supposedly this will keep them alive for another year. :) So Sun Jian and win a game finally!! (I have actually won a game with Sun Jian but it was a pain in the butt because he dies so soon)

In III, you can directly take any item from a follower (this causes MAJOR disloyalty from him), and if you defeat generals or rulers with items, they are given to your ruler, to be handed out or hoarded (for example, you can give the red hare to anybody after beating LuBu, and there battle movement becomes +2 (so with high moral troops, you can scale walls without waiting, I always use this to open castle gayes, far faster then breaking down the gate by battle), and there are other horses that give +1, some swords, 7 copies of the art of war, and a few other items.

I have both RtK III and RtK IV for PC. I bought both of them from Electronics Boutique way back when. I haven't played them in a long time but they are great games. I bought my SNES with the sole reason just to play everything KOEI put out. Unfortunately they haven't really done anything in this genre lately. It's encouraging to see they are giving us something for the PS2. Now if only PTO2 would come out here in the USA I'd be all set! ;)
