Would this be considered a strong start? I played it once and didn't do so great but I am still new to barbs and haven't won on monarch yet.

Settings are monarch, epic speed, continents, 8 civs (7 ai), no huts, no random events, playing as Roosevelt. BTS 3.19 no mods.

I'll upload the save in case anyone wants to play it out/shadow me, maybe offer some advice.

In general on Monarch; If I get a decent start and nothing goes wrong early then I can usually keep pace or be ahead of the AI, until around 1ad-500ad. Sometime in that area even if i'm ahead the AI all end up 15 techs ahead of me with bigger armies and it's all downhill from there (even if I cripple AIs early they end up trading with the other ones for all the techs and start beating me too).

Spoiler :
I settled 1SE and there are horses 1s of the marble.

Was figuring i'd horse archer rush someone but I always feel like I somehow end up doing everything 50 turns slower than people on this forum  and the first time I played the map I got unlucky against some barbs then stopped.

It simply is lacking in food, which is most important.

I would not have moved the settler - risk of losing a possible seafood in the fog. Don't move the settler unless it is clear you will gain from the move, that is, warrior reveals extra resource or bonus center city tile. Not worth losing a turn.

Not a great start, but you should be able t win with it.
