ROTQM10: Raging Over the Quarreling Mountains

Played some turns...

Basically the barbarians starter to completely get my goat and I decided there was only one thing to do about it...

Not a bad catch, AP and Buddhist Holy City.

Got the land percentage from 35 to about 45 by taking cities and founding some of our own. Rifling will come in in 10 turns or so for some cavalry and rifles.

WW is a real killer at the moment. Got to get rid of Justinian and then Huayna to bring it under control. Hopefully they are both gassed. Think Alex is west of Justinian.

good turns, guys. i haven't had a chance to look at the save as i'm still traveling from the holiday here in the states but everything seems to be coming up roses. fight on, good LKendter, fight on.

1862 AD
We already have enough population to win. Just need to increase tile count.

I up the culture slider to 10%. We can't afford this many idle citizens. I stop city growth in any city with angry faces even after the slider going up.
I change cities to artist / culture buildings where we can get another border expansion reasonably soon. At this point every tile claimed counts. Theaters are given top priority where I can get border expansions.

Getting Cuzco was really great. We took a TON of wonders away from the Inca.
Current land = 45.69 of 62%.

1863 AD
I can tell we just killed a civ. I can drop luxuries back to 0%.

1864 AD
Alexander is still being a pain. Trying to see which direction his stack near Victos is going.
Another filler city is built in the NE.
I start to pound on Angora.

1865 AD
I start to nibble on the Greek stacks coming our way.
I auto-raze a barb city.
Angora is captured.
I start a GA with our new artist. One city culture bomb won't help to wrap this up, but speeding up all those theaters and troops will. We get the nice 15 turn variety.
Lack of spies is killing me. I can't figure out the next target vs. the Inca. I am exploring with troops. I am trying to locate the Incan city near Victos.

1867 AD
I build another filler city.
(IT) I go with steam power as the next tech. From there we can go for infantry or rails. Both will be very useful.

1868 AD
Greece finally leaves the forest, and goes to Victos. I can now chew that stack up.
I destroy a small Incan stack near Tiwanaku.

1869 AD
We captured a barb city in the upper NE. At this point every city counts.
(IT) We get to vote on Russia winning Diplomatic victory. I doubt that will pass!
I love the sound of borders expanding.

1871 AD
We get a scientist that completes a big chunk of scientific method.
Adrianople only survives because I can only occupy with one unit. With at least 3 AI units visible I don't feel like gambling.
(IT) Greece again commits suicide at Cuzco.

1872 AD
I found thee more filler cities.
We capture Ollan. The borders hold, so there must be another city south of it.
We capture Adrianople. There are still AI units floating around the town.

Summary:
Starting land = 45.69 of 62%.
Ending land = 54.59 of 62%.

This should be my last set. Between newly founded cities, culture expansion, and cities coming out of resistance I think that number should go up almost every turn.

woot, woot...great set lee ~ i see we're chugging alone now...wonder if its worth upping the culture slider just to get faster border pops for us

continue the carnage, rolo!

I already played half of the set ... I wanted to play fully up to yesterday, but that was not possible and today my mother had a small surgery and I passed all the afternoon up to now in the hospital.

Will deliver tomorrow ... hopefully :/

It is nothing serious ( she decided to grow up a brand new tooth in her 60s and the thing was growing sideways ... it obviously had to be removed before creating damage to the bone ), but it required my presence in the hospital ....

Ok, sorry for the delay, but i think that delivering a victory will surpass any ill feelings :p

To be honest, I don't even feel the need of making a report since it would resume to me building 3-4 cities in voids, capturing 2 cities and teching steam ( oh and getting us in technical deficit @ 100% cash :p ). The delivered game was already pretty close of the goal anyway ... but it was rather not epic :p

Autosave of the winning turn here

Actually i don't have a victory shot because the game decided to stop responding in the victorious IBT after doing the autosave. I can do one and post it tomorrow if you really want it :p

ha - and he calls himself a content provider! No victory shot = no content!

WOW - I knew I had us set for a ton of border expansions and settlers on the way, but didn't think it was THAT close.

dang! good job rolo, and great job all! there was a time in the beginning where I thought we were gonna get stuck defending, but

well done all!

keep an eye out for a new RNGod game in the next few days...it'll probably start with some discussion of the old "missions" to update it a bit, give it more of a pholkhero, "impossible" challenge. i know Oz and Im are in; let me know if any one else wants a spot.

How could I not request a spot in the next Mission (Not Really) Impossible?

btw well done rolo. Content? Who needs it, nothing like a report full of screenshots, strategic insights and witty one liners (yes and it really was nothing etc etc).
