RPC, The Next Generation: King George III and the American Revolution

Well, you're in prime position to turtle up and reach for the stars. That would be a solid, sure win, if a little dull. The "foreign influence" seems to be mostly crap cities that are only good for keeping the Barbarians at bay and offering up choice targets for your Spies, but I can see the appeal of keeping your continent "clean." Maybe compromise? Conduct a quick "war of purification" for some laughs, then get down to the serious business of shipbuilding?

I definitely want to bring America to victory and winning thye space race without the core cities from the beginning of the game is a major acheivement. But for the RPC flavor, a Monroe doctrine attitude is appealing, at least for our NON-friends.

I'll see how the timing goes.

President George: American Resolve!

America has come a very long way from the desperately cast off former colony! The battle to lead the world in research and production capicity while avoiding conflict with the old world is a difficult job. But America is growing strong under the leadership of President George, and perhaps there is a bright future. But my fellow Americans, the Russians and too a lesser extent the Chinese could be roadblocks to our goal with the Indians pulling an interesting move.

Let us begin by simply going through our techpath

Railroad/Combustion/Plastics/Radio/Computers and saved. Yeah, you see where America is heated, down the information highway.

We get some help from Mansa

GeorgeG0000.jpg

And get even more help from The next Great Person who launches us into another Golden Age

GeorgeG0001.jpg

Infrastructure, infrastructure, infrastructure!!!

Now, look carefully at what Asoka has

GeorgeG0002.jpg

He has Fission and to boot he actually built the Manhatten Project!!! That set's an interesting scenario later on, but for now Nukes have not enetered the picture.

we also start further expansion by settling deep within the Amazon Jungle

GeorgeG0003.jpg

Unfortunately, the American plans to let the old world keep Catherine busy did not pan out

GeorgeG0004.jpg

Causing

GeorgeG0005.jpg

So a nasty worldwar. Cyrus takes an early pounding from Catherine, Washington loses the last city on the British mainland leaving him Ireland, and Asoka get clobbered by Qin.

Ourselves we had very littel intereaction with the Russian lass. Louis on the other hand has been annoying way to long and time to shove the French out of the New World.

GeorgeG0006.jpg

GeorgeG0007.jpg

GeorgeG0008.jpg

We kept the first, burned hte frozen Tours to the ground, and renamed the Cuban island as Havana and started distributing fine cigars to the Americans!

Meanwhile we finished

GeorgeG0009.jpg

Giving us a monopoly on it that lasted all the way through the round!

With the discovery of Plastics Catherine was willing to talk peace.

GeorgeG0010.jpg

Cyrus also got peace and we reinitiated the defensive pact. Saladin broke away from Cyrus and eventually vassaled to Catherine. Oh well, there goes a good allie.

Soon Catherine made this demand

GeorgeG0012.jpg

And America has built a backbone and refused. Catherine was ticked and now regards us as her worse enemy, but she does not scare us as we finished

GeorgeG0014.jpg

And start the Internet which is due in 21 turns! Meanwhile I think superconductors are the way to go here for the labs.

Meanwhile another unanticipated event occured as the UN was built by

GeorgeG0013.jpg

We voted for Qin figuring he was more likely to screw over Cathy, but

GeorgeG0015.jpg

Well now, Rome has a say in world matters. Somehow there has got to be a way to manipulate this by bribing Julius's master Mansa into a war, pretty sure Plastics will do it, but whom???

Meanwhile, America cities

GeorgeG0016.jpg

Our core is doing very well with alot closing in on getting Power. I am rpetty sure the SpaceShip is going to be tech limited, not production.

Victory conditions

GeorgeG0017.jpg

Not too crazy as China is still holding it's own against Russia, I need to get these two at war. And Cyrus is a wild card, we canceled that defensive pact, too dangerous.

Demographics

GeorgeG0018.jpg

Still not earth shattering except for food and land, but still we are behind.

So that is where we are. I say internet and Spaceship before Catherine starts coming at us. Any ideas on how to get distracted intime for us to get the internet built??

Well, it looks like old Cyrus has built the Apollo Program. The way AIs work the Spaceship, though, I'd say you're safe for another couple centuries. The Internet is always a good idea. If you get even one late-game tech from it, it's paid for itself. And, with 18 Civs or so out there, you'll get at least one juicy tech. I'd say you're fairly safe thumbing your nose at Catherine at this point, given how limited her naval capacity likely is and how inept the computer is at intercontinental warfare in general. But if she's pissed you off (and I can't blame you if she has), maybe start Airporting materiel back to Europe to set up a Final Battle (TM).

Well that is one nice transition to the new world mad. Impressive as always. When all the infrastructure is ready it will be just be a race to the space parts. And then you can show Cathy the .!. :)

Now are we going to see a space race vs. the Russians?

Alternate history at its finest, Mad, great read. :D

You're space-racing me eh mad :p. We get to see if dedicated SP/workshop spam or specialist-fueled cities win out. Looks like the shops though, and with completely auto workers to boot ;).

You got to the new world sooner but I caught up since I took communism with lib. I actually spun england off with only 8 cities in the new world (1200's AD), but those simply built granary/forge then workers/settlers/military for some very fast development until I'd settled most of the cities. Once I had them I build just the production and science multipliers (easily, since I had so much in terms of hammers) then wealth. The beaker rate was pretty huge after that.

As for washington, I left him a good set of settled rep specs and some productive cities (he was also SP + workshops). When cathy declared on me, she landed on his island and he promptly owned her :p. He was up there in tech for most of the rest of the game though of course I directed him away from space.

Really though, when colonizing a ton of land mid-game I don't think anything can remotely keep up with SP + shops/watermills.

Yep, SP/shops/watermills! I am about to write up my recap, how I did will remain to be judged by the community! Remember my Independence was forced as a kneejerk defensive manuever, and of course as always I look for playing with style, win or lose.

So how did I end up doing? Wait and see......

President George: American Production and Justice!

President George sat smugly in his office happy with how things are turning out and directing the American Research Institute along the unique techs as The Bayou constructs the internet to spy on the other nations and steal their techs. Yes George is quite content, BUT there are those out in the world looking to attack America as well as a small group looking to remove America's estemed leader.

We start off by researching Superconductors for Labs while Julius weilds his impotent power as UN Chairman.

GeorgeH0000.jpg

While America is all for Fredoom or Religion (hell we are in it) Saladin and Isabella defy the resolution resulting in them getting a good dose of unhappiness. Ah, memories of past RPCs, too bad Isabella did not have her cities reduced to 1 population with those resolution defiances.

While Catherine hates our guts, after all she is a capitalistic pig in Russia while we enjoy the wonders of state property, and schemes in closeted back rooms; Qin and Genbghis are going at it! Right now Qin is pleased with us and that will soon improve. But for now Capitliastic China and Russia are Communist America's top threats.

Once we finish

GeorgeH0002.jpg

We start on Fiber Optics followed by Fussion and robotics.

And while there is still open lands we continue to settle cities

GeorgeH0003.jpg

GeorgeH0004.jpg

American expansion costs us essentially nothing as we get more gold/beakers than upkeep costs! In these new cities new ideas are being formed.

The Capitlistic Russian Pig comes making a demand

GeorgeH0005.jpg

And in the interest of world peace president George of the concede this request soon followed by

GeorgeH0006.jpg

Catherine going after he neighbor Cyrus, who we long ago broke any defensive pacts with.

The dilligence of the American people has paid off as we finish

GeorgeH0007.jpg

Getting us

Fascism
Mass Media
Medicine
Fision
Flight
Artillery
Rocketry.

we start Apollo in Jamestown where the IronWorks was built to go with the National epic. At this point I have one Great Engineer saved.

The Internet has turned America from a floundering, hastily formed nation that could barely pay it's bills to a Technological SuperPower

GeorgeH0008.jpg

The UN tried to force Peace between Persia and Russia, but was defied by the Russian Tyrant

GeorgeH0009.jpg

Getting her some more unhappiness while sealing Cyrus' fate.

Now, in south America we have started constructing a force of tanks thinking of taking that strong Barbarian city only to find

GeorgeH0010.jpg

Can someone explain why the AI would be nuking a helpless Barbarian city, or did they build a bad Nuke Plant that melted down?

The internet gave us another usefull space tech

GeorgeH0011.jpg

Which got me thinking of Robotics to research next as we are still construction Apollo. The Mechanical Infantry are nice too.

We attack the glowing Barbarian's city

GeorgeH0012.jpg

And raze it putting them out of their misery.

Now Mansa seams to the be turning up the culture slider putting pressure on out "Source:" city, however he was kind enough to spin South America off as a colony

GeorgeH0013.jpg

We open borders and get along just fine with the Mayans.

Soon Catherine finally overwhelms the Persians forcing Cyrus's capitulation

GeorgeH0015.jpg

With the ever agressive capitalistic animals in Asia in creasing their ruthless empire, we find a potential new friend.

GeorgeH0016.jpg

We are not drafting and Bureacracy in Williamsberg will give us another strong production city for space ship construction. So we agree which gets Qin to friendly.

Unfortunately, he was never willing to adopt a defensive pact.

We did find that Qin desperately needed something that we had

GeorgeH0018.jpg

Adangerous game we play, giving one of our biggest rivals the source of ICBMs. More and more in back rooms there is complaints about American leadership, but George seams oblivious to this.

So now we were first to Fussion getting us a free Great Engineer followed by yet one more Great Engineer. With Robotics, we were able to construct

GeorgeH0019.jpg

The turn right after finishing Apollo! All is set now for spaceship construction, and now the representative government begins open discussions about George's Future. Afterall, we are in State Property where wealth is shared and every American has a vote. Why should America be run by a single leader???

A new UN vote shows up

GeorgeH0020.jpg

We defied it! America has been built on State Property, so we adjust the culture slider to eliminate the negative world opinion. The American People are furious at the foreign policy blunder by Fat George. There is an open call in the street to remove the Tyrant.

Once again the Capitilist comes seeking more handouts

GeorgeH0021.jpg

Once again George is cowed and concedes. The American People have had enough! They quickly finish the SpaceShip

GeorgeH0022.jpg

And take hold of George while the military watches and laughes. George (no longer King or President) is boud hand and foot and shoved into the cargo hold to be sent FAR, FAR away near alpha centuri.

America is now exclusively run by the people, both respented or directly via State Property. However.........

To Be Continued............

America!: Land of the Free and Vengeful!!!

America has placed a series of submarines to watch the Atlantic Oceam area. Sure enough as rumors of the Americans disposal of George has reached the treacherous Russian Queen, an armada slowly makes it's way across the ocean.

GeorgeH0023.jpg

The Americans are no fools and quickly upgrade all coastal city units to mechanical Infantry. Teh Chinese continue to sit back and refuse any defensive pacts.

Soon the trumpets of war issue forth

GeorgeH0024.jpg

Catherine does not find a weak America like in the previous war where premature independence was forced. Here is a mighty country with more than enough fire power to defend herself as well as a strong feeling of vengence.

Martha's Vineyards easily fought off the Russian attack while Small sorties from Egypt and Arabia attacked some American cities. And of course the Annoying French..

GeorgeH0026.jpg

Yes, Paris glows green as the first American Nukes fall on the French. We refrained from dropping nukes on the Germans, Greeks, Egyptians, Arabs, and Persians understanding full well they are bound to the steel Queen. Still, they are her minions and must be dealt with conventional weapons.

GeorgeH0027.jpg

An excellent apportunity to secure more prime North American lands, leaving Hatty only the artic regions. We allowed Louis to keep Puerto Rico although we kept Nuking Paris.

GeorgeH0029.jpg

Funy, Lou is no longer taunting America or England and was last seen cringing inside a cave somewhere.

However, America still had much anger towards Russia and by a unanimous decision by the American Congress all remaining Nukes were directed towards the Russian core.

GeorgeH0028.jpg

All this excessive Nuking of Russia caused two things. First Qin is now cautious with us dues to a -16 penalty for nuking his friends, AND

GeorgeH0030.jpg

Yes in three turns Cathy was willing to negotiate peace. Being we are less than 10 turns from George Landing we happily gave the gold, may the capitalistic wench choke on it.

Soon, the American congress got a message from there former leader that things were going well and the new land was in sight.

GeorgeH0031.jpg

george seams happy with his new home and America is happy he's happy (and far, far, away!!!!!).

Final demographics

GeorgeH0032.jpg

Never took the lead in any catagory, but we did what we had to!

With George gone, the leader of the American Congress happily took the picture for the customary Polaroid

GeorgeH0033-1.jpg

So American Comunism has clearly defeated Russian and Chinese Capitalism!

Thanks to all who followed this game!

Not sure which is next, I have a few earth map ideas but will likely go with a different map next. I plan to enjoy watching Ceasar Playing on Diety!

Great fun, mad! A fine ending to a fine game. So you left poor Washington behind to pick up the pieces, eh? That was awfully rude.

You should play the Barbarians scenario as Atilla the Hun. Lay waste to the weak and civilized! (I've always wanted to see that thing played well).

Excellent as usual:goodjob::thumbsup:

A deity game? Now that would be different for you.

You miss read it. I plan on watching Neal play out the Diety King of the World before I start another RPC!

Wonder how much Bureu cost you in civic upkeep compared to Nationhood :) Qin didn't want a pact as he didn't like Washy your vassal quite as much as you.

All in all, superb game to follow :) Was fun to watch the BPT rate steadily rise from basically nothing to ~1500 in short order. I guess that's somewhat historical. Also shows that America should really have embraced Communism!

SP is about as realistic in this game as nuclear plant meltdowns and global warming...though you might get your wish anyway...

Great game mad!
