Ruff08 - The AI Shuffle

D'Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. :hammer2:

That transates to apologies, hadn't spotted I was up.

Will play & report tomorrow.

Ralph

Stuck very much with the Ai recommendations this turn, so if it turns out badly. Remember “I blame Sid”

Following the worker we stuck with the strict every other build Military rule and started on an Axe, which was then followed by a temple.

1oreleanaxe.jpg

Now I might be reading this wrong but the AI seemed to be suggesting cottaging the Iron as an alternative to mining it, but its is now hooked up

2toursiron.jpg

AN interesting choice came up in Lyon and we are going with the Parthenon which sits fairly well with Representation and will help the culture battle

3lyonparthenon.jpg

We lost the Zeus race which is no real loss

4zeusgoes.jpg

And Zara and Roosie are being real wonder hogs this game

5wonderhogs.jpg

After Calendar we opted for construction which the AI recommended for growth (presumably for Aqueducts) although we may turn this tech into a more militarily useful one methinks..

Our worst enemy is doing her world famous impression of a “Bulldog chewing a wasp” so this request was naturally turned down. We like girls but not ugly ones..

6bulldogwasp.jpg

Happily Boudi (who we definitely think is hot) has joined the one true Hindu faith so is a how shall we say Bosom buddy now....

We stopped when our capital pooped its GP as it would have been interesting if it was a GE but a scientist for an Academy isn’t bad..

8greatscien.jpg

And to showcase Ruff’s super graphs you can see Hammy temporarily losing his capital RED

9ruffsgraph.jpg

And also we are slightly ahead of Elizabeth in power and if we can only get a bit more powerful YELLOW it would feel like war might start crossing our sneaky AI Mind..

Here is where we are tech wise and a spot for the settler due in 2 from Paris..

Nice turns and that's a good city spot so we just have to hope that Sid agrees :) War against England seems to be more fitting all the time.

Nice. The only problem with WAR against England is that she is miles away. I agree we should start beefing up, but we might want to organize our side of the land to fight against the other side ... ie unlease Boudica!

Have to remember that if we are going to follow how the AI would play some irrational things are going to happen.. My feeling is we can use "human" tactics to gain an edge but should let our AI charachter drag us into "non-optimal" wars.

Exactly my thoughts :mischief:

Sorry guys, had a busy week end :)...

got it for tomorrow... let's build military for Liz...

Do we (euh... does the AI) have a plan for the GS? I am thinking academy or settle somewhere as the AI never keep a GP for latter bulb (did they even bulb???)...

Hi guys :)

IHT: trage incense against gems to Zara (+1 relations, "you provided us resources"). Switch to OR ("might as well leverage organized and build big monuments in the honor of my magnificence!" thought Bonaparte...)

t133: Our scouts spot LBs in Notthingham, let's buid some more troops

Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0537.jpg

We make an academy in Rheims (gems city)...

Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0538.jpg

We also trade monarchy against Aesthetics to Boadicee (+1, fair trade)

Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0539.jpg

t134: Izzy wants to trade Calendar against 35 gold... No thanks! I am about to put a -1 diplo "it must be a joke!" but decide against it (probably to please Josephine)...
Roosevelt gets a GS.
Rheims starts an archer and Paris a worker (it's my human intervention, I votoed some crappy build).

t135: Construction is in, we start Litterature ("my people needs something to read so they don't pay too much attention to what I am actually doing" :scan: thought Nappy this turn)

Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0542.jpg

Taoism is found in San Fransisco... i guess the AI has its bulb moment too :mischief:
The AI blessed us with a blue circle in the right place for the remaining site:

Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0541.jpg

t136: Roosevelt builds S.Paya.
Orelans -> worker, tours -> granary.

t137: We settle Marseille (the english translation for some reason put 's' at the end of each french city name ):

Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0543.jpg

... which starts on a monument.

t138:Paris -> catapult

t139: Litterature is in... We start COL

Spoiler :

Boudica and Isabella have enough on their hands. I wonder what the ladies are planning... Good to see that we are soon the owners of two shiny wonders but we really need to get more troops out. Spend your human interventions wisely :)

got it - should be able to play tomorrow.

I am afraid that Napoleon is going to have to channel Greyfox here - and not just for 1 single turn, or for 1 single :whip:.

France is middle of the pack in score. It is way behind in tech - some other countries are sporting macemen and longbows (what every they are). We have build this lovely pyramid but we aren't making full use of it because OUR CITIES ARE TINY!

The happy cap is about 15 or 16 for most cities but we are playing as if they were 5 or 6 (see all those excess happy in the pic to the right?). I am calling on the mothers of France to have babies ... lots and lots of babies - grow you @#%^!@ cities.

Now, to the game - our present diplomatic situation is that we are Hammurabi's love child and Boudica's current toy-boy. Everyone else basically hates us ... lucky for us the feeling is totally mutual . The only problem with this is that Hammie and Boudica are even more pathetic that us on a score / tech basis.

Boudica is planning on doing something about that ... she is currently marching a force through our lands (4 x Galtic Warriors, 2 x Axe, 4 x Cat). She is applying the pointy stick method of tech research - lets see how she gets on.

I cancel our gems deal to Zorro and put in place a gems for fish deal with Boudica ... and now I am ready to start my set ...

CoL in (I select Civil Service due in 12)
Parthenon in
Great Library in

:goodjob: on the wonders and CoL. Horrible job on the CS due in 12 part - our tech rate is bad ... I hire a round of scientists slowing down the builds but speeding up the tech rate. I also look into the current tech situation with our enemies / friends and ... only get madder - almost everyone has currency and we don't. What is the world coming to!

Boudica has Feudalism but wants all of our techs for it (CoL, Lit and Mono). She'll just have to wait a while

Hammie suggests 260g for Horseback-riding ... ok, we could do with the cash.

Boudica declares on America!

Ruff08-0140.jpg

Hammie will finally trade Currency and I flick him CoL plus 60 of his gold back for it. Also, something is seriously wrong here - that little worm Hammie is the most cultured civ on the planet ...

Ruff08-0143.jpg

I left our wandering medic I archer in the war zone so that I could observe ... Boudica's war is going slowly ... but at least she is bombing down the defenses with cats before killer herself on the cities walls. The problem is that Roosevelt has got crossbows and longbows in New York now. Also, Lizzie pizzy pout-a-lot declares on Boudica. She and Roosie are best of buddies so she either saw an opportunity or was bribed into it.

CS comes in - got that 12 down to 8 or so. I haven't swapped civics yet as I have a suggestion for the team (again, more later). I trade for Feud with Boudica (sending her Mono and CService), trade for Metal Casting with Hammie (sending him CService). Screenshot of current tech position at bottom of report (note: from the turn we got Metal Casting, so Machinery is 'cannot trade').

I also have a swarm of workers at Rheims farming. They are also farming our new gems / fish city. Yes - farming. We must grow our cities, swap to Caste System and run lots and lots of scientists. France is moving to a specialist economy in some cities - other cities are on war duty!

And then ... the moment that every-one in the world knew was coming ...

Ruff08-0146.jpg

Well - what do you think? Yes or No? YES, of course!!! I had seen this coming so moved our cats, axes and other offensive units over to our Iron city - only a few tiles away from Chicago. They are currently in position and just finished bombing down Chicago's defenses.

Current Situation ...

 • We have a Great Scientist. Options are Golden Age, Pop Philosophy (religion already gone - Roosevelt) or Academy.
 • Workers are roading, chopping jungle or farming. Grow those cities
 • Civics are unchanged - suggest swap to Bureaucracy and Caste System - I did a round of the cities and whipped 1 or 2 on the last round
 • Army in America's soil @ Chicago - note Boudica has some units on the way to help(?)
