Mother Russia => Siberian Riches
Fur Trading Post => Krepost (which means Fortress in Russian, probably fort upgrade)

Looks like instead of defensive ability and resource building, they implemented resource ability and defensive building.

I find it strange for Russia to have a fort as UB,
since India also has the same kind: Mughal Fort...

hm...

Maybe one is a building in cities (Mughals), the other an improvement build in terrain (Russia)?

Well, probably not, because both are classified as buildings (the Mughal first was a unit but now is a building, right?).

Which indicates that the "official" classification is fairly meaningless.

But still, one could be a "walls" replacement and the other a "castle" replacement.

That's unfortunate. As I personally liked the concept of "Mother Russia"... Russian winters being a determining force against outside invasions. Both Napoleon and Hitler can attest to that.

What if the russian civ starts near the equator, or in desert floodplains, or near jungle, or in temperate grasslands? Would be weird to be getting a bonus from harsh winters.

"Mother Russia" didn't necessarily imply anything about Winter/attrition anyway; its pretty content-free. Could be anything. Loyalty, for example.

Now, if it had said "Comrade Winter" then it would be a different story.

Yeah, and that's why I hope in the beginning, most of the world will be covered by forests. Unique abilities should be able to (very nearly) always be used.

Yeah, which sucks, because ice, tundra, and desert are the least common terrain types on normal maps.

Siberia is huge; its a lot more than just tundra. A lot of Siberia would probably be plains or plains forest in Civ terms.

You're over-parsing if you assume this is a benefit from tundra.

Much more likely; its a benefit from Camps and/or trading posts.
Eg: +1 gold from camp improvement, +1 resource yield (furs, deer, etc) from camp improvement.

This is why i said it was a wild guess, siberian riches could really mean jsut about anything.

Indeed. The first thing I thought of some sort of colonization bonus. Siberia is enormously huge, and really rather far away from the Russian "core". My first thought was that it would give some sort of bonus from distant cities. I suppose time will tell what it really is.

I too was thinking Mother Russia would be something like decreased maintanance from either # of cities of distance to capital.
Then again, there's just too little info, don't even know if maintanance as we know it will still exist.

There could be a difference between a Cultural Capital, the first city of your great civilization, the one that counts for domination; and a "Political Capital", where your government and the heart of your bureaucracy lies and which counts for distance and others such things.
