Notes:
Please finish turnsets
ToA is due in 10 turns, it will be faster because marble is almost hooked up
After playing the turnset I don't think we need war yet (our f9 stats are great) but just in case I built a few military during my turn
We have a much higher gdp then everyone else, lightwise production and food are really high, the only thing we are lacking on the f9 screen is solders
We have a monopoly on a few techs right now, the only tech we need currently is calender (due in 1) and monotheism (2 turn tech)
Currency should be next to take advantage of those trade routes
Trying to get our boats to circle the world, hopfully the side track of the west one to explore that island won't cost us that

Hmm, OK I thought I was going to play after Negyvenketto, but nevermind :). I'll play when it is my official time in the roster.

Settling that merchant was the correct move IMO. No point in a golden age or trade mission at this stage of the game, and sorry I couln't give my input before you were able to play.

Currency should be great, not only for a trade route but for a market for our capital. Compass for harbours should also be a priority. If you look up some of the snaaty threads, you will see that for an inland city to have high trade income, it needs a market (for no obvious reason). So capital market, coastal cities harbours for trade routes.

But apart from that things look nice. Let's concentrate on military for a bit until we get compass.

Lurker's comment: Markets do not affect trade routes. Try it in Worldbuilder.

Lurker's comment: Markets do not affect trade routes. Try it in Worldbuilder.

Markets won't increase trade routes but trade routes provide commerse that can be multiplied with a market as long as some tax revenue are being made.

So snaaty was wrong? In that case we don't need a market at Amsterdam at this point in time.

No a market in Amsterdam is still a good idea because of the great merciant and we are running 20%-30% taxes. As taxes decrease it is better to build courts then markets. Currency is also good because it gives us 1 more trade route per city which is 2-3 gold per city for free.

Turn 0 – Putted JC espionage weigth to 0 and Wang Kon to 1 ( we don’t have any intel on Wang )

No deal, but we should take sides sooner or later ( and sooner would be better ). Budha or Moses? I’m for Moses....

Turn 10 – Compass is in, I choose CS as next tech:

Thoughs and reminders

Rotterdam is ready for the whip. Next player should make the courthouse and let the overflow go to a harbour.
We need more military and more workers..... ( the oldest Civ IV mantra :p )
A lot of our cites ins near or in Hap cap ( some are in avoid growth mode ). Maybe some :whipped: markets could be a possible way to deal with it
We need to take sides in the religious blocks issue. The budha guys are nearer and encrouching us ( even QSH is pressing us, building a city near of that eastern cooper ), so my vote would be for the Jew block. But we need to be prepared for war when that happens....

P.S [offtopic] 1000st post! :band: :beer:

Well, our tech rate is fairly amazing. As it should be with our variant this early in the game. To take advantage of our good start, I believe we should take over a neighbour before they get longbows. So I like the plan to convert to judaism down the line and bash on HC. By the way, bashing on HC is a theme of the S-series, see S-04 for details. So it kinda has to be done :p.

Looking at the save, the only thing I don't understand is the courthouse in Amsterdam, because I doubt the +2 espionage points are worth the hammers. I change to a worker. Actually, add "avoid growth" to the list of things I don't like. Avoid growth is very occasionally the correct play with cottages, when you want to grow your cottages but not be unhappyy. But with this variant, it's terrible. Just grow unhappy then whip a forge or market. Or hire some specialists instead.

OK, we finish Civil Service and I set research to machinery at 100% science to get access to macemen.

The great library was BIDL and I traded our spare clams to HC for his dyes.

Not much more to report for the rest of the 10 turns. I build some workers, harbours, 2 swordsmen and started some cats. Machinery due in the next turnset, then let's crank out the macemen.

We could settle one of the islands in the east for something to do. The 1-tile island looks OK; we would need exploration if we want to settle the big island.

Got a GE, he can rush Hanging Gardens, Chichen Itza, Mausoleum of Maussalos, Moai Statues and after Engineering: Notre Dame.
My vote would be HG (or Moai), what do you think?

The save

Looking fine, except that Maastrict and Middleberg should be whipped this turn. Keep building the macemen and trebs during this turnset, we'll see if r_rolo has the troops to declare in his turns.

Boring turnset all around
Save

Preturn:
Like the idea of building Moai but not Utrecht, they have 8 water squares, so look at the cities and Middelburg has the most water squares with 15 so I send him there

Turn 1:
Put the capital on a market
Move units to the front stack
Engeering->Feudialism

Turn 2:
Made a few rushes
The world is at peace

Turn 5:
Military builds continue
China has the best axes
Feudialism->Guilds
Korea gets Taoism

Turn 10:
Guilds->Gunpowder (can be changed)

Front looks like this with more on the way:
War_Stack.JPG

Still need some attackers but we have knights now so we can start whenever with the knights catching up to the stack
Tech wise we are still in a great position, ecomony is great, military is ready to go, we do need some longbows for our cities but our stack is doing great
