I wouldn't want to watch it myself, but if that's what the Iraqis want to do, who am I to stop them?

Let it be shown on TV so tyrants around the world can take a hint.

Sure. And while we're at it, do we have any footage of the Al-Jezeera killings of all the American journalists? :D

Of course not. It's cruel and inhumane. I'd rather watch... Family Guy :ack:
And I can't imagine anybody else wanting to see it.
Maybe we'll find it on YouTube.

There goes the rest of my faith in human civilization...

Saddam will die of natural causes before all of his appeals are finished anyway.

I can't think of a good reason why not, so I suppose so, if they want to.

Of course it should be on TV.

What's the point of a hanging if it's not a public spectacle?

In the U.S., it should be on pay per view. Anybody that subscribes, should be considered a candidate for conscription.

I was under the impression that anyone over the age of 18 is already a candidate for conscription.

In the U.S., men between 18 and 25.

Maybe if the Democrats win as big tomorrow as some are predicting, they'll submit draft legislation again next year, and actually pass it.

Sure, I might even watch it.

I remember watching Nicolae Ceauşescu being executed by firing squad on TV in 1989 (I think it was). Wouldn't wish it again or on others.
I have seen a video of that, and personally, I'd wish it on plenty of others. Ceausescu and Elena had it coming to them; they are only lucky they were shot and not tortured first.

Nah. Not that I'm opposed to it, but it would be too messy a scandal to have in public.

I'm sorry public executions do not belong in the modern world.

Moral Objections aside....
It would serve a practical purpose to satisfy and ensure those Iraqis who hate Saddam so much.
However, would also serve to help incite those Iraqis who support Saddam, and want him back in.

In the end I do not believe Saddam's or any other Execution should be public, be that televised or held in a public square.

I'm afraid they'd be out of any luck should the broadcast happen.

Better than Suadi Arabia. In 79 500 militants seized the Grand Mosque. 63 survived the special forces and they were executed by beheading in public without trial and then it was televised. No moral objections to killing Saddam, just pragmatic ones.

No, it's inhumane and barbaric.

What are we, some furry brutes chanting "Death!" at a swinging corpse simply to satisfy our primal desire for revenge? Humanity has a good 1600 cm^3 of brain; one would think that they could realize that there is no point to a revenge killing.

So just because they are worse than us, we are still good? There are shades of black, and just because someone else is blacker does not make one white.
