Im all for tossing him to the Iraqis and letting them do what ever they want with him. No blood on our hands and everyone gets what they want. Except the Sunnis, but I think most of them are beyond recoverable.

And by Iraqis I mean Shiites and Kurds.

Le them all see, this is what happens to tyrannical dictators. As long as it's not bloody I see no problem with it.

provided it is handled carefully otherwise it would BACKFIRE.
(Given Bush administrations handling of such event probably a bad idea)

So just because they are worse than us, we are still good? There are shades of black, and just because someone else is blacker does not make one white.
I voted no to televised execution BTW.

Sure why not?

But i wouldn't watch it. That would be nastiness i wouldn't want to see

I have seen a video of that, and personally, I'd wish it on plenty of others. Ceausescu and Elena had it coming to them; they are only lucky they were shot and not tortured first.
I'd be entertained by such an event involving the Holy Trinity in your nation's current adminstration (seeing as they advocate torture and high death counts themselves). But that still doesn't mean I'd support it being foisted on the general public.

That's why my PPV idea is so awesome, noone would be flippin' through and suddenly see Saddam die.

PPV is privileged access to the media. I don't support it. Sorry mate.

It also encourages youngsters to charge porn viewing to their parents account without adequate safeguards which warn said youngsters that "IT WILL APPEAR ON THE CARD, YOU WILL GET CAUGHT".

absolutely not

I'm against the death penalty in general, but if you really have to do it, at least do it with some decency.

Not to mention only allowing the rich to watch things like The Ashes, significant football matches, etc etc. But it's my opposition to the death penalty which informs my voting and opinions on this one issue above any of that.

Pah! You're no fun!
Aye, I'm a grumpy old man when it comes to the death penalty. :old:

I'm against the death penalty. But if it's going to happen, I don't really see the case for not broadcasting it as a matter of public interest.

I like Perf's fundraising angle on this, but understand and agree with Ram's point on public access to the media. So why not just have very expensive advertising slots before and after, and maybe a bit of branding and product placement during ? I'm sure there must be some patriotic US rope-makers out there who would love to play their part in this spectacle (cf WebRiggingSupply.com). Anyone got suggestions on the best rope to use - wouldn't some expert colour from the rope equivalent of Frank Gifford be welcome ?

Back on topic...

This will be a barbaric act - let's not pretend that it becomes an acceptable and humane one if we avert our gaze when it happens.

This is a great idea! I wonder if we can convince him to wear a promo T-Shirt? That would be awesome!
