Saladin No cottages Immortal

GL does use stone, but Desert Quarries are pretty weak tiles.

I would say masonry first after sailing. We need to build quary as soon as posible.
Chariots should provide enogth defence for now.

I agree, not only for quarry, but we should start the GL soon because the AI builds it extremely fast sometimes. And qin seems to have a coastal capital so we shouldnt really be lazy building it if we want it.

In terms of city, if we can ship a settler to grab the ivory/cow location in the north, that would be huge. The stone city will be there later anyways, and our island sucks. The bad part about this is that we cant speed up GL with stone than...

hmm.. it seems true.
In ingame help GL does not has resource associated.

Well, may be then we better build city north, but that could be expencive as we would need galey.

Well, according to civ fanatics wonders page, GL is boosted with stone, but I guess thats a typo/mistake/from previous versions or something.

I guess its probably better now to get a settler up there to the pig/ivory city rather than settling the stone city, or build an army and take out qin/rely on him to build us GL. I would prefer to build it ourselves though, we dont have any metals so war is going to be hard until catupults/iron once they get those cultural bonuses stacked up.

Who knows what Qin is going to build? He might be on oracle, pyramids, or something else altogether. It would be silly to rely on him to build a specific wonder for us. Obviously it would be nice if he built pyramids though.

I would also like to grab the north site if we can for the Ivory, elephants are powerful.

uberfish, I am still trying to locate the save :scan:

ok got it, will play late tonight

good luck guys, i wish i had time to join. Make full use of philo trait!!

played 15 turns
got a chariot went for galley, then chariot and settler
settler will be done in 2, we should settle on the hill, should be possible I hope
there is a Chinese settler pair in the northeast, we should be able to beat it to the western location

2nd city got obelisk and now going for a rax

beat a barb warrior but lost one to an archer
chariot was of good use to beat that

got masonry, mining, started BW as some axe showed up
it will be done in 6 turns

yes, I do believe Ligthhouse is needed in our position. after setler we better start to build it and hopefully a forest or 2 will help as.

Ok completed..

White border is frederick. Good I think, we dont need any more industrial civs. Damascus founded in 1240. I start on warrior immedietely, chariot alone probably isnt enough defense there with the barb city nearby.

We get a little lucky. Hinduism spreads to both damascus and Susa, so cyrus converts to hinduism, and we dont need an obilesk in damascus now.

Brone working comes in 1160. Theres copper near our dear/fish city, I think thats probably our next city now.. Good for whipping...

We meet Asoka, he is buddhist like expected ;) . I set research on the archery path after Bronze working. My logic is that chariots and warriors wont be enough for the immortal level barbarians, and we probably wont be able to settle the copper town for a while atleast.

Lighthouse was built during this time, and GL is started in Mecca. I chop a couple of forests to speed that up. I chopped some plains forests since we will probably build a irrigation path on that anyways.

Someone builds oracle in 950 BC and takes theology with it to found christianity... So anyway, here is the situation. GL will be finished in 10 turns/6 if we whip 3 population, and like 4 I think if we chop another forest. Damascus is producing worker so we can hook up the pigs and ivory up there.. there was nothing else worthwile to produce there anyways..

Research wise we are probably in situation for beeline to Alphabet right now..

The save:

We should open our borders with Fred to increase the chance it'll be our religion that spreads to him. This is shaping up to be a very interesting game, there are several different approaches we could take, each with its own difficulties for example:

- Trying to reduce the number of religions out there by grabbing Philosophy/Taoism and focus on religious diplomacy. (How do we set up to get a scientist and prophet as #1 and #2?)

- Going on the offensive at Construction with ele/cat/axe stack. (How do we deal with our low production and get enough troops before the AI gets feudalism?)

- Chasing great library and/or Colossus. (Production a worry again.)

Yes, I think we should open border to fred, +3 commerce and chance for our religion to spread. It does actially spead well so far.

I think we will need to grab philosofy for trade purpouses.
We researched all low level technologies and I think Philosofy is the only chance for as to catch up.

If we get GL we need to do some city spamming I think. There good fish city posible near bronze.
