sand 01: the computer knows best

god turnset try clicking examine city to see if we get a new choice.

Booo!
Then you might as well skip the variant all together and build what you want right away.

if you think so then we will. so it is written so it shall be.

In 635 Beijing completed training of a Swordsman and we are permitted by the machine god to begin another!

Before 650, Hatty offered Horseback Riding for Code of Laws. Since we don't have horses, I saw no advantage to us.

The machine gods smile upon us:
sand9.jpg

I picked the Spearman.

And smiles again:
sand10.jpg

We revolt to OR.

We are now researching Currency.

In 680, our swordsman earned a second star by killing a Barbarian archer coming from the south.

In 695, Guangzhou no longer needed to rely on a settler for defense. Our third archer arrived to begin garrison duty.

In 710, our valiant swordsman discovered Kushans and it was defended by 2 archers.
sand12.jpg

The first archer died in the next turn, but a third archer appeared in the city as if by magic in-between turns. Meanwhile, a different archer approaches Guangzhou from the SE so our swordsman retreats to a less agressive position.

Here's the log and our current situation.

Lurk, Larf. Lurk, Larf.

The best thing about this game is that winning would be the ultimate humiliation.

we are around top or level with hatty tech wise so from there i would say space race. but we'd have to get ahead quickly with alot of GP saved for golden ages.

we won't get many national wonders wih only 3 citys but i guess thats the price unless we want to spam citys or capture barb citys.

I think that you dont have to print screen every thing to make sure the variant is applied. If you wont follow it, then it doesnt matter. In addition, when you'll have tons of cities it will be hard and long to show all of the decisions.

thats a good point. but another good point is we will not have tons of cities.

We CAN"T get Space win, AI never suggests Apollo Program or SS parts. We have to get Domination or conquest win I would say. We need to start expanding our cities now we have military, by taking the barb cities first I would say. Need the spearmen back in our cities as Khan will declare on us sooner or later.

Got it by the way, will play later on today.

OK 950 it is, whatever you do, don't touch anything!!! The computer has everything the way it wants!

T1 - 965AD

Catapult or courthouse in Guangzhou - go with cat of course

T2 - 980AD

Start the assault on Bactrian
Sword loses to archer (at 86%)
Sword beats archer to pulp (at 75%)
Spear beats archer and Bactrian is ours.

Decide to keep of course. 2 workers inside which is good. I put one on automate trade network and keep the other inside until we're out of revolt.

T3 - 995AD

Axe in Shaghai ---> sword (or courthouse)
What the hell is this guy doing??????

I bring him back home.

T4 - 1010AD

Beijing - Archer ---> Catapult
I move archer to Bactrian

T5 - 1025AD

Bactrian - what a choice - go for courthouse.

T6 - 1040AD

Cancel gold to Genghis and then trade to Hatty for Sugar.

T7 - 1055AD

Guangzhou - Catapult ---> Sword
Use settler to found Nanjing here

T8 - 1070AD

Beijing - Catapult ---> Confucian Temple
Shanghai - Sword ---> Courthouse

T9 - 1085AD

zzzz

T10 - 1100AD

Guanghzhou - Sword ---> Courthouse
Trade Monarchy to Hatty for Alphabet
The empire expands.

OK, we've got 3 new cities. I've started to move our catapults to Shanghai in preperation of a move against Nappy and a sword heading towards Uzbek barbarian city (once the troops in Kushans heal they should pop on over to lend a hand. The AI stopped giving me military options by the end of the turns so hopefully will give us more soon. Calendar in 1, we'll see what we get.

Here's the save.

A quiet turnset, accented by barbarians moving out of the southern ice.

Inherited Turn (1100 AD)
Tech learned: Calendar
Confucianism has spread: Shanghai

Turn 1 (1106 AD)
Catapult promoted: City Raider I
Axeman promoted: Combat I
Swordsman promoted: Combat I Need I mention I turned on AutoPromote?

IBT: Confucianism has spread: Pharsalos (Greek Empire)

Turn 2 (1112 AD) Hatty has captured Uzbek
sand15.jpg

I think it's safe now to move that fog-busting warrior in the NW corner of the picture to fog-busting duty south of Kushans.

Turn 3 (1118 AD) Whoa, Uzbek is out of revolt already. Did she drop a culture bomb in there? Nah, it's only a one-tile pop.

IBT: A barbarian Axeman approaches our healing units in Kushans. You think they're mad about us capturing their city?

IBT: While defending, Axeman defeats (1.85/5): Barbarian Axeman

Turn 4 (1124 AD)
Kushans begins: Courthouse

Turn 5 (1130 AD)

IBT: At Kushans:
While defending, Spearman defeats (3.52/4): Barbarian Warrior Whew, good thing I spotted this warrior a few turns back. Kushans was undefended so I sent a Spearman from Bejing south.

Turn 6 (1136 AD)

IBT: A Barbarian Swordsman approaches Bactrian. Our archer there looks vulnerable. Our healed Spearman is dispatched west to help out.

Turn 7 (1142 AD)
Nanjing grows: 2

IBT: Hatty asks for Open Borders. I accept. She remains Cautious with us.

Turn 8 (1148 AD)
Tech learned: Literature
Guangzhou finishes: Courthouse

IBT: Hatty now asks us to drop trades with Peter. It appears she's in a better position to crush us than Peter, so I acceed to her wishes. On the other hand, Peter's in a pretty good position to crush us too. ;)
While defending, Spearman defeats (1.36/4): Barbarian Swordsman <<= this guy's turning out to be quite a hero.

Turn 9 (1154 AD)
Research begun: Feudalism
Guangzhou begins: Swordsman
Beijing grows: 10
Beijing finishes: Confucian Temple
Shanghai grows: 7

IBT: South of Kushans: While defending, Swordsman defeats (5.40/6): Barbarian Warrior

Turn 10 (1160 AD)
Beijing begins: Courthouse

A new Barbarian city appears:
sand16.jpg

We've got 2 Swordsman and an Axeman on the way to convert them to Chinese.
