I first saw it on the cover of Evangelisti's book Cherudek then i saw it on the whiteboard at classes. I looked it up on wiki - dunno maybe that article made me want to know a bit more about it.

Basically, no-one really knows what it means. It is often supposed to be a Christian symbol, on the grounds that you can rearrange it into a cross. Personally I think this is pretty tenuous, given that (a) a cross is a fairly simple shape and not exclusive to Christianity, and (b) Christians in the first and second centuries AD, when the square dates from, did not use the symbol of the cross.
