Saturn Embassy

I popped in to check out the game and there was a message from plako, asking for 5 gold so they can finish math next turn.

Depends on what Kaz throws at us, and how quickly Saturn gets taken out. Saturn aren't that good and Cav could end up killing them in 20 turns.

Memphus says:
also an interesting move if you figure you will lose your city for sure, is to move out your unit. and then heal and recapture
Lord says:
yeah, exactly
Lord says:
that's what we're planning
Lord says:
though I would have thought it was this turn we lost it

What's this about

Saturn is losing thier city in the NE (with the silver)

that is the one we told them 2 barb axes and asked if they wanted the chariot to stick around. They declined.

Well as it turns out thier turn player (plako) didn't change builds to and archer so they can't :whipped: it out. Thier Immortal can't take both axes so they are giving the city up.

Big OOPS..........

Yeah, Saturn aren't that smart...I'm not sure which I would have prefered, a Saturn that I thought we good, solid players who just got a little unlucky in the early game, or this shambles of a team that can't plan, can't think, and probably can't survive.

Our chariot is currently defending Rhea for them (and we offered to help them out again if they give us directions).

FYI Saturn sent this to KAz (it is in our Gmail)

Sent the following to Kaz, for your information.

Greetings Kazakhstan,

Unfortunately this year we come to you with some bad news: we have decided not to trade Feudalism to you at the present time. Let us make it clear right at the outset that this does not necessarily mean that we wish to cancel the deal completely - however, we wish to postpone it for the time being. I can assure you that this has not been a light decision, and there has been a great deal of debate amongst our team regarding this matter. Let me take this chance to enlighten you a little on our reasoning.

For some time now, we have been watching with dismay as you have blasted up the tech tree with Cav, leaving our poor nation in the dust. We were even more dismayed recently when it became clear that you had invited the Mad Scientists to join your tech trading group. This in particular made it clear that you were obviously and deliberately trying to exclude Saturn - perhaps because you or Cav had us on your "hit list" of nations to conquer.

Frankly, at this point the game is not even close to balanced, to the point where almost seems a joke. You and your two partners have an insane technological edge on the world, which no-one else can hope to compete with. Additionally, you have made Feudalism next to worthless for us in terms of trading value. MS and Cav have responded to our many trade requests with complete and utter silence; in fact, the only time we heard from Cav in recent times was when they enquired about the Feudalism deal we had with you (no doubt wondering when they could expect it'd be passed on to them as a freebie). In hindsight, the reason is obvious: you were planning to spread it around to your buddies, just like Civil Service and all those other techs have spread like wildfire between you.

In short, we cannot with a clear conscience pass a powerful military tech to you when you have so clearly aligned with two other nations and are warring with the only remaining nation besides ourselves. Simply put, this would irreversibly skew the balance of the game, and make it even more of a joke than it is presently.

Regards,
Lord Parkin of Saturn

Very straight to the point! I like it a lot!

With LP from Yesterday (I was talking to him right before our turn) I also Talked to DMOC a little bit in the game.

Spoiler :

Lord says:
what tech path should we follow next? I think we get Maths this turn.
Memphus says:
well Kaz got MC
Memphus says:
so it will go to CAv and MS pretty fast
Memphus says:
so I would try to trade MC for Calendar or Construction ASAP and research the other.
Memphus says:
But Calendar would be nice! how much gold do you need this turn? How long would it take you to get calendar at max?
Lord says:
no gold needed this turn I think
Memphus says:
ok cool
Memphus says:
after you end turn ask for whatever you need to stay at 100%
Lord says:
I don't think there's any point in attempting to trade MC
Lord says:
would be futile
Lord says:
sure thing
Lord says:
can't check time to Calendar yet, as DMOC is logged in
Memphus says:
oh ok. it will also be hard to tell until you end turn too!
Memphus says:
TBH after you guys end turn i would offer MC and Feud for CS and Calendar (or consturction) in game to MS
Memphus says:
if they decline oh well...if they accept !!!
Lord says:
yep
Lord says:
may as well offer the same to Cav too
Memphus says:
yeah why not!
Lord says:
put it in the turn tracker, hopefully DMOC will do it next (or I will)
Memphus says:
DMOC playing turn right now?
Memphus says:
oh BTW our chariot will be full health. where does he go?
Lord says:
yeah, he is
Lord says:
probably up north
Lord says:
we lost Iapetus
Memphus says:
Ok cool Ill send him NW N NE NE next turn up to Iapetus
Lord says:
ok
Memphus says:
that is your road network if i remember correctly!
Lord says:
yeah, I think so
Lord says:
although it peters out towards Iapetus
Memphus says:
might wantto make those offers Cav is up!
Memphus says:
we completed the pyramids.
Lord says:
nice
Lord says:
damn, we can't propose the deal this turn
Lord says:
game mechanics make us wait until next turn
Lord says:
since we only just got Maths
Memphus says:
i know
Memphus says:
you can propose it as soon as MS end turn
Memphus says:
but that is ok we planned out chops knowign that
Lord says:
just means that Cav and MS will probably get MC from Kaz before we can offer it
Lord says:
not that I think it'll make any difference
Memphus says:
not if you offer it now
Memphus says:
you in game diplo offers show up before kaz!
Lord says:
we CAN'T offer it now
Lord says:
do they?
Lord says:
I thought it was the order deals are proposed that they show up in...
Memphus says:
you can't offer MC and Feud for Calendar & CS?
Lord says:
not this turn
Lord says:
it's in "Can't Trade"
Lord says:
presumably to do with the fact that we got Math this turn
Lord says:
and you can't get a prereq and the following tech in the same turn
Memphus says:
ahh gotcha.
Memphus says:
that sucks
Memphus says:
try MC and Feud for CS?
Memphus says:
cause really CS for feud isn't bad
Lord says:
we can't offer ANYTHING that has prereq maths
Lord says:
includes Calendar, Construction, CS
Memphus says:
oh that is CS too shoot
Memphus says:
i forgot
Lord says:
never mind, I doubt it would have succeeded anyway
Memphus says:
true...
Memphus says:
but the good news is on calendar you get the bonus modifer!
Lord says:
yup
Lord says:
well, on any of the techs
Memphus says:
yeah!
Memphus says:
so what do you think of Calendar ==>CS?
Memphus says:
Although by then we will have switched to Representation! so we can tech too
Lord says:
whoever is quicker should go for CS
Lord says:
it's more urgent
Lord says:
Bureaucracy makes a big difference
Memphus says:
yeah we will let you know after calendar. might have to send $$ the other way
Lord says:
yep, ok
Lord says:
anyway, off to continue a Civ4 game with my girlfriend
Memphus says:
sweet! have a good night

From MS to Saturn

Greetings Team Saturn,

Despite your likely annoyance at past communication difficulties, the Mad Scientists would
like to discuss a possible exchange of knowledge. As you may know, we hold the secret
of bureaucratic organization embodied in the technology of Civil Service. Our people are
interested in learning the secrets of Feudalism to help with management of our far flung
empire, and Archery for defense against the uncivilized barbarians who roam the earth.
Would this trade be appealing to you?

Our committee has not applied its rubber stamp yet, so we have not made an in-game offer.

Regards,
DaveShack of the Mad Scientists
