EDIT: And the first Confederacy did eventually outlaw slavery.
Actually no I have never seen this in my rather large study of the civil war.

Anyway this looks like an interesting idea for a scenario.

Are you going to be adding units like various planes, tanks, hummers, infantry, etc?

Just noticed this thread. A bit of a suggestion: LA would never join Northern California. ;)

Well then Bobby Lee the people of Texas should never have voted for the Articles of Annexation when proposed by the United States.

"As for what that" tyrant" Lincoln said" He was just enforcing the Constitution.

Article 1, Section 8, Clause 15: To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the laws of the Union, supress insurrections and repel invasions. I think you would agree that by definition secession is equal to insurrection. By the way Texas did not ratify the thirteenth and fourteenth amendments to the constitution until February 18, 1870. Which were the abolition of slavery and due process of law.

been awhile since i been here, but i just thought i would throw in here that at that time Texas was not legally a state and had no say... the only reason we got a say was because we HAD to ratify it and they needed a few more votes to outvote the legal states that were opposed...i would say secession, despite it being a fact that it is just legalized insurrection is still a valid right of any group that exists....its a basic one...wut u quoted there just says its ok that the US try to stop ppl from doing so....beside the point though...just thought i would throw it in there....

Actually Bobby you need to read your Texas history a little Better as the articles of annexation were proposed by the Republic of Texas and ratified by both sides, Texans were not forced to vote for it. And they knew what was in the constitution as it was written, besides that was what one of the major reasons of the civil war. The side that supported secession lost.

Nooo! its cool, I want Canada in this! if there was a Revolution there it would be GREATLY affected. I believe Quebec, using the trouble in the South, would secede from Canada. Also, I believe the Northern Territories and Nunuvat would also secede...

Maybe British Columbia would also do so? In my opinion BC is the most "Americanised" Province... Nearly no one speaks french here, and it is very... Americanised.

seems kinda realy hoky and corny, not to say unrealistick!!!

not to say a stupid idea, the us in a civil war i think is unrealistick.... and how whold the us become a dictaor ship in one day...
if the usa ever did it whold be controled behind the certains, in other words ther whold be elexted presadents, but if thay didnt do what this hiden force whanted, thay whold get killed or be forced to do it

This is definitely interesting to me! I wish you the best in finishing it soon! ^^

Gotta agree with Plexus. The conventional wisdom is that LA=Hollywood liberal elite. But most Angelenos are middle class & they hate they Bay Area.

When I think of LA, I think of Ronnie's boys-Dana Rohrabacher & Tom McClintock. In recent years SoCal Republican party has been completely inept. But the democrats who took their place at the table are relatively moderate-blue dogs like Jane Harman & Linda Sanchez.

Aside from Maxine Waters, I can't say LA has elected many radical voices. Most of them have been ethnic nationalists rather than socialists, not unlike the Quebec situation. They still embrace socialism as a rejection of the mainstream culture. But the economic philosophy isn't so important.

Would be interesting if Antonio Villaraigosa took LA & collaborated with the Mexican Gov't. No? Aztlan threat would hold together the otherwise fragile state of SoCal. LA/SF coalition would be much less serious.

Sims2789, Seeing as you haven't posted here in awhile, I'm going to try PMing you.

For those of you interested in a scenario of this kind - I have made one that is quite similar - created after this one stalled - without knowledge of this partial build. In fact Sims posted several times regarding details, never mentioning this work.

The scenario involves the entire continent, not just America - if interested, check out the "War in America" link in my signature.
