Scenario Problem

Hey,

My computer kicks me out to desktop whenever i try to load the Earth_IceAge scenario, i know some of the other smaller scenarios work. The error message that is brought up says something like "You Have ran out of video memory.Please lower your video settings." I tried dowloading the 1.52 patch and that didnt solve the problem and neither did Harkonnen's patch or 1.09. The game also doesn't load Huge Modern saved games. I have looked in the other threads but most of them suggest to download those patches.
I am using an ATI Radeon 9200 with 128MB, on a Windows XP.
Any help is appreciated.

Have you tried increasing the AGP aperture?

You have doubtless made many attempts at install-patches etc. You need to start again with a clean system. Many times a complete purge of the game, and a re-install has resolved many issues. In a Patch or auto de-install some bits of the game can be left behind, causing clashes with a patch or a re-load, particularly the hidden directory with cache files in it.

Do a complete purge of Civ from the PC, including the cache files

Download Patch V1.52 (or move the downloaded one from the game directory to another directory if you have downloaded via game interface) via

Before Patching
Windows add/remove in control panel remove Civ - success or failed do the following

Delete the Civ IV Directories in:

- Programs/Firaxis
- My Documents / My Games
- C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\My Games\Civilization IV\ Its a hidden directory if not seen just check you have "show hidden files" switched on

- Delete Windows/Temp files
- Delete Browser Temp files

Load from discs
Load Patch V1.52

If still issues - post again before doing anything else drastic, then we have a known baseline to work from

If you post again, attach your Dxdiag file (Start button - click - select run - type dxdiag - hit enter - wait a min - select 'save all information' - post using the 'go advanced' button below)

ok,
i uninstalled the game, then deleted all files related to it, then reinstalled it.
i also downloaded the 1.52 patch. I still can not play any of the 3 Earth scenario's, including the IceAge one. The same error about video memory pops up. I have not tried any huge modern maps because i deleted all the previous saved games.
