Scenario Request Thread

H. Beam Piper wrote a fantastic "alternate time line" story (Paratime) in which European civilization moved eastwards rather than westwards. "Lord Kalvan of Otherwhen" was the title of the book. It was also published, probably originally, as "The Gunpowder God". This promisses to make a good "musket and pike" mod (at least to start). Some information available at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_Kalvan_of_Otherwhen and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hos-Hostigos.
The events take place in North America, so maps may be made by modifying existing maps. An attempt to locate Otherwhen kingdoms can be found at http://web.sbu.edu/friedsam/archives/carr/Lord_Kalvan/overview.GIF.
Several relatively small kingdoms exist in the New England area. Political geography isn't clear, although Piper goes describe some boundaries, so that would have to be settled. Religion also took a slightly different turn. On the fireplace mantel in one house stand four small statuettes on the fireplace mantle. These are four gods. Probably a Father god, a Hearth goddess, a warrior god, and a fourth. A rival kingdom to Hostigos, named Styphon, held the monopoly on gunpowder. This initially gives Styphon the greatest influence or power or control over commerce. One challenge would be to find alliances that could balance Styphon's power. To challenge Styphon is to lose one's resource to gunpowder. Slowing technological development would maintain this problem, although eventually other kingdoms should be able to discover gunpowder.

That would make a very good scenario. It's kind of unfortunate that there is a lack of any alternate timeline scenarios

I'd love to see a Europe 1919 scenario, ideally comprising the various ethnic minority conflicts, ie Germans in Poland, Hungarians in Romania etc etc, to make it more interesting to see how European history pans out.

I know this doesnt belong here but I'm tired and about to go sleep, where can I find a tutorial for making scenarios?

Maybe quite demanding but im bored of seeing all the units look the same no matter what nationality they are. Id like to see all the units be made unique.

There's actually a few modpacks with near complete ethnic art. the ones that I know are Legends of Revolution (LoR) and Quote Capita.:)

Do we have a very detailed U.S. Civil War scenario yet? You know, a huge one, like Civ2's scenario was! Lots and lots of cities and tiles. :)

I know there's one or two around, but they're pretty small iirc.
