SCH0003 - Exploring The Arcane

This is my first write up, but there not much to write about, or is it? Let's just say our coffers were almost depleted. I didn't notice how bad we were commerce wise, making a meager 10 commerce per turn. after I switch a tile around & worked the mana. Kept researching Education, 11 turns later we got a worker, & I put him to farm some.

3 Turns after the power to hand matters of the magic empire were handed to yours truly, an event came up.

Met the Clan of Embers

Golden age? Nope, we don't have that wicked religion.....

Met another friendly neighbour, the Hippus, anyone else thinks we might be in for some early wars?:p

And got another event when cash was needed, our agricultural advisor is crazy:lol: So I fired her & got a nice -3% inflation, which is useful only later in the game.

Robbed a grave that turned out to be haunted! Warrior survived & is still healing.

While scouting, I found a nice teddy bear, didnt turn out to be friendly, & our poor warrior was eaten.

Finally got education.

Built a couple of warriors after the worker, & then started building a settler.

State of the empire.

Some suggested locations are pointed on dots.

I think the blue dot is the more manegable city, we get access to marble for a great library run in the future. Or, we can also settle on the flood plains, but settling on the desert is a bad idea now, & I can't see a good spot yet. We need to scout some more. I put exploration as a placeholder, no beakers invested, feel free to decide, but I would recommend exploration so we can get fishing up. With marble Heron's Throne seems buildable.

& here ends my first ever turn report.

Btw, didnt know how many turns I was to play, so I did 26, the time it took us to finish up education.

Looks good Dux. I haven't been able to look at the save yet but edu seems like a reasonable stopping point. I think now we definitely need to go with exp -> fishing

I wouldn't mind, but try to write a more in-depth report. Follow the links in our sigs to find some other SGs and try to look at the reports there for inspiration as how to...

Someone else who wants to play, or can Dux continue?

Back and connected - might have time for a set today or tomorrow morning (busy Fri eve and Sat). If nobody posts a 'got it' before then I will grab!

In two weeks I have finals so I won't be able to play, and I'll have no internet until the 4th.

The turns so far are good, and we have a nice variety of resources.

Go ahead Trynthlas, I would rather have you play it that me doing two consecutive rounds.

Preflight: took a look around, checked out techs, decided to stick with Exploration->Fishing.

Since we're not really following a strick order, whom who hasn't played can take the save? If by tomorrow no one posts, I'll take it.

Well, to be honest there isn't much to say even though I played a lot of turns (till turn 111 - it's 35 if I'm correct). Built some warriors to defend against incoming barbarians, researched techs, founded another city before the Svartalfar beat us there...

Oh wait. Tasunke declared war.

That can't be true! He's about half a continent away, there's two civilizations we know of in between, and he's sending a warrior... and four scouts? Honestly, you must be braindead to declare war with that 'SoD' and hope to get something out of it!

....wait. I recognize that Hippus color. Haven't I seen that particular color of green somewhere before? Hmmm, let me think...

... Tasunke, you're just Monty in disguise, aren't you? Even the tactics match. Suiciding your whole "Stack of *cough*doom*cough*" against a far superior force without killing even one unit?

YOU FAIL STACK COMPOSITION FOREVAR!

On a side note, I finished researching Fishing, then got Crafting for the wine tiles we now control (it's about the only decent place we could still settle. The rest of the land not already taken sucks.) and finally Mysticism so we can soon kick science up a bit. We should be able to take off in science soon enough.

...provided Tasunke's stacks don't get any more frightening than this one.

Ok, since nobody has post they want to take it, I'll play. Got it.
