Scouts and Ancient Ruins

Prefer Ancient Ruins to:

  • Provide nonupgrade bonuses for scouts.

  • Upgrade scouts to archers.

That's option F. I omitted details from options in the original post to avoid wall-of-text syndrome. :)
Silver promotions acting as gold with ancient ruins (Option F) is impractical for two reasons. It's inconsistent with how promotions usually work. It's also unrealistic, like pikes keeping the mounted bonus even if boosted to muskets. The bonus was because of the pikes, weapons specifically designed to counter horses, and doesn't make sense on muskets.
 
The opportunity is the clear winner. I would also like to see an enhanced set of possibilities that only Scouts can get over military units, a la Civ4. I don't actually know if Civ5 has this at all or is possible without the game core, but I still prefer to nab Ruins with Scouts just in case. ;)
 
Opportunity is by far the best option, the only problem with it is that it makes me want all the other goody hut events to have choices!

The only thing is, will the opportunity option mean you get a bonus from the ruins AND the opportunity?
