Some screenshots from Drakensang: The Dark Eye, an older game that has (sadly) been overlooked quite a bit. Graphics aren't that great nowadays, but considering that this came out over a year before Dragon Age Origins I'd say it was not too shabby at that point, even more so considering that they had quite nice lighting effects. It also looked much better in motion, thanks to moving NPCs and stuff like papers being swept through the streets, dandelion seeds flying through the air or petals and leafs swimming down the streams.
Overall it felt a bit cliché and "old school", but oddly enough I liked the colorful graphics and the fairy-tale like fantasy setting better than Dragon Age's gritty, greyish-brown world. But maybe I am biased because I also played the Darkeye P&P game...
In the Elven Woods:
Visiting one of the great elven tree houses:
Or more specificly: Alari Quellensinn, who needs help against some interlopers:
A strange light in the caverns below:
Checking out some strange bypassers in Nadoret's harbour (no, not the two fishermen):
Captain Eilif, most famous for her daring explorations (and maybe her back pains?)
A high elf from Tie Shianna, a city that had been destroyed by the Nameless One:
Bredo, a reoccuring travelling merchant, who is a teeny-tiny bit addicted to magical berry juice:
A little easter egg: The properly dressed figurehead on the player's ship when reaching the colder region of Hammerberg:
The group and some NPCs after finishing the final boss. Yes, I liked the winged helmets.
