The beginning of Friedrichstadt, meant to be a European city. A cathedral is at the heart of the city, and I intend for the rest of it to grow along the four axial roads (N,S,E,W).
Riots in the working quarter of the city, causing me to name the local football team "The Feisty Proles".
Junkers, where the mayor and the other city elites live.
In the 40s, bombing raids cut power to most of the city. The abandoned zones won't recover fully until the late fifties
The Proletarian quarter is the largest and fastest-growing. Eventually it will surrender to urban sprawl and become nightmarish.
Part of the sprawl results from the new commercial core which grows near the stadium and stock exchange.
In 1986, the Autobahn reaches Friedrichstadt's borders. While it won't touch the Old City, whenever they expand across the river it will be central to growth there.
New Junkers, also known as Geyser Park.
The University of Friedrichstadt, which like most European universities began life as a cathedral school. In the 19th century, however, it achieved renown for its scientific, medical, and technical programs, leading the way in Sim-Deutschland's industrial revolutions and growth as a world power.
The Old City in 2004. Old, low-density buildings are located near the cathedral while modern skyscrapers are restricted to the outer ring.
Most of the city, save some more power plants (and a massive airport) in another corner. Fort Bismarck is somewhere inside the industrial section.
Friedrichstadt has been marked so far as a city suffering intense air pollution from its heavy industry, but after the ninth(!) toxic cloud I put various ordinances into effect (Clean Air, Industrial Pollutant Impact Free) to punish heavy polluters. The city also has a massive subway system, partially because I couldn't drag rail lines over the axial rodes.
