First moon landing without breaking one of the lander legs (lucky to land on nice terrain this time):

And successful return, albeit via a detour into deep space and crash-landing in a mountain range (we're sending the sherpas for you, guys).

That makes 2 crashes into the moon, 1 stuck in Kerban orbit, and 2 successful returns for my space program.

Who plays video games with their parents?

My friend's kid does. There's old school NESers who own XBoX360s and play with their kids.

First moon landing of my very own, self-made rocket :D On the first attempt :D

I had flown this, sans lander module, on two lunar-orbiting missions beforehand, and returned my kerbals to Kerbin, to get a feel for it. I feel a sense of satisfaction.

A very masculine lander.

Decided to lift off with the landing module itself, to make sure I had enough fuel...

...and it was just as well. Need to work on my lunar return - I always seem to end up getting caught in the moon's gravity again on the way out, and slung into a far orbit.

The landing site could not have been more idyllic - a mountainside lake.

Winning!

Rome: Total War in a custom battle, Greeks versus Romans on a bridge. It turns out that Romans aren't impervious to elite phalanx formations or arrows. Who knew?

How many Romans were actually killed by your archers? A half-dozen?

EDIT: Also, get some cavalry!

I think at least 40% were killed by my ranged units, the rest ran into my Spartan Phalanxes (or whatever they're called) and they didn't take a single casualty. Cavalry would have been useless on the bridge, they would've just been slaughtered. In any other circumstance, I'd have Cavalry Auxilia to throw at the front lines and retreat while other cavalry flanked them, but the bridge kind of limits flanking. I should mention that I sacrificed one whole unit of regular hoplites to allow my elite units to set up on the bridge.

bridge maps in RTW almost invariably have a ford elsewhere for trivially easy flanking

This is utterly shocking to me. Are you playing a mod? Usually, heavy troops are immune to archers and slingers.

Cavalry would only need to be used in the pursuit phase of the battle--always fun and necessary on hard campaigns to cut down the runners. Since it's a random battle, I guess it doesn't matter.

Yup, you usually have to watch two crossings, minimum. Same in ETW, in the rare cases you had a river map.

Guess you learn something new every day, they didn't even attempt flanking me and were content to suicide waves of cavalry against me. Not playing a mod, but I'm fairly sure everything combined, my javelineers and archers did around 30-40% casualties, most of the enemy wasn't too heavily armored and I wiped out their archers and velites with mine, so the numbers may be a little inflated by that.

This is a "Ghost Ship" event:
the equivalent of an automated super science rogue ship from Antares randomly "de-colonizing" one of your planets.

I can't freaking wait until SotS2 is finished.

I started a new small game last night after the patch then. The default settings are really too slow for any action without mass clicking the "End Turn" button.

It's pretty playable, but faction battles take forever to occur.

I started a custom battle in ETW today as the Pueblo Indians versus the British. I should have used more guerrilla tactics, but here are my soldiers lying in wait for the British.

Interesting. This game looks similar to Sins of a Solar Empire.

Playthrough right after I defeated Satan after going through the Cathedral. Very fitting.

Yeah in EB that region has a Celtic culture group because it was historically settled by a Celtic tribe. It tends to join one of the Gallic factions when it manages to successfully revolt.
