Second expansion?

One thing I'm sure we all need is the exclusive unit(s) for every Sponsor in the game.

i would like to see a day and night cycle plus change of seasons (pretty much a real time simulator of civ) lol

and then di...sleep another day

It's good idea, I also would like to see something like desert winds and sea tornados, those changes make the gameplay more unexpected.

guys stop fooling yourselves. BERT was nowhere near successful enough to warrant another expansion. Compare it to CiV on steamspy. Not even close. They're moving on with another civ game (civ 6 most likely)

Yes and no, it all depends on what metric they are using to determine the viability for the game.

Firstly it is clear the game is much cheaper to make than the base Civ. 1) a lot of the code is already there and you are adapting, adding to it. 2) the team is much smaller than Civ is (probably to the detriment of BERT) which really reduces the development costs. All of this means the amount of units they need to sell to recoup their losses is much smaller than base Civ

Secondly, for all we know BE and BERT are testing ground for new ideas for the base game, and in that respect any profit is a good return on investment. Also, it is clear that they can work on both, so I doubt BERT is slowing down the production of CIV6 in any meaningful way.

There are two things that lead me to believe we may yet still get something more BE related, 1) They haven't tried to fob off a definitive collection yet, 2) Their social media is still doubling down on the space theme well past the point they needed to, to push BERT.

That all being said, if 2K/Firaxis made a loss on the game then it is dead in the water, so only time will tell

April is finally here; I think I can hear the faint whistle of the hype train as it approaches. I'm looking forward to starting the ride again within these next two months!

Also given what I said and given Firaxis' recent social media focus I think I was wrong, they do seem to be building to a more Civ than BE announcement

Porque no los dos? *crowd picks me up cheering at my brilliant revelation*

(we all remember that commercial, right?)

I would really like to see Air Units expanded and Air cities. Like the nomadic cites they are forced to move, but function more like mobile air bases. Specialised Orbital units would be used as workers, like fishing boats for sea resources in civ 5. The city would have to move every X amount of turns or require certain resources to function( an air city can only be built by petroleum or floatstone). They would not be as good at anything as the other cities, however they would produce air units faster. An expanded Air roaster goes along with it to have more units like the aquilon.

Its more likely however that they will improve stations and offworld trading. if you look at the stations on the Civilopedia it says some stations went to many unexplored planets during the seeding. I'm sure there are moon traders and stuff like that.

Whatever is in starships that isn't in beyond earth lore wise will probably be implemented in as a mechanic if the second expansion is ever completed.

There will probably be some kind of announcement at PAX East or E3, if it is Civ6 and no new expansion then we can be pretty sure another expansion is not on the cards.

Until they say otherwise, over the next year and a half I won't give up. I'm a believer. Lol

Considering that PAX East and E3 are big events and also the fact that Firaxis has made big announcements at those events in the past, I think it is a safe bet that Firaxis will have some type of presence at these expos. I think any announcement will mostly have to do with either BE, XCOM2 or Civ6. But it is also possible that Firaxis will announce a completely new game, one of Sid's special projects. But my "money" is on a XCOM2 expansion or Civ6 announcement.

My bet is on "No" but in the end nobody but Firaxis knows. After all I was surprised they even did Rising Tide.

I guess they'll announce something at E3 but it may end up being only a Xcom2 expansion.

I just got confirmation via twitter from Pete Murray that Firaxis will not have any presence at this year's PAX East.
