Sengir03 - The Orwellian State

My bad. I, like you, feel that the MM area of the game is my strong suit so sometimes I forget that not every player goes into every city on every turn!

Ironically enough I was pants at the MM until I started playing SGs and had to concentrate. I should really write up turn logs on every game, it would probably jump me from Prince to whatever's above Monarch straight away in SP.

@Team: as Sengir is skipping nocho is UP

1) nocho (skip until Aug 29th)
2) happyturtle << UP
3) IPEX-731BA5DD06 << On Deck

4) Whosit (waiting for him to post that he's back)
5) Brian Shanahan
6) Norvin Green
7) Sengir (skip until further notice)

Okay, I'll be building up the military on my turn to prepare for war on WK.

Um... how many of each unit do we need? *kind of sucks at war*

Swordsmen should be enough, and build at least 5 more catapults. Have about 50/50 siege and attackers. I'd build about 4-5 macemen as well, and a few more spearmen (WK has horse). Wang Kon's lack of iron should stand us in good stead in the field, with a spear def brigade. Longbows will be hard to break, but if we're around 1.2/1 we should be all right for war. Swap Birka to the two hills and have it and Uppsala building Catapults, build maces out of Nippur, and a couple more out of Nidaros after the Harbour.

5 Catapults with Accuracy promotion, then more for collateral damage. Maces 5 would do, build more as war goes on, 2 spears and a long bow or archers for garrison duties.

Catapults, don't have to have 5, but makes it easier to drop cultural defences, and have seperate city raiders to hit initial defenders, do we have Trebuchets??? if so build them instead. If no engineering...Cat's and maces will do. No iron, mean no need for crossbows.

As far as I remeber we've no engineering. On the Cats, yes put the first five to Accuracy, but in medieval war we'll need as much seige as possible and then some suicide catapults to help out too.

We can't get accuracy cats unless we switch to Vassalage, except in Nippur where the GG is settled (and the Heroic Epic is under construction).

Switch to vassalag we're doing a military build up. Logical choice.

1. Nippur has a maceman degrading. I think, after switching to Vassalage, I'd like to 2 pop whip him, giving 47 hammer overflow for Heroic Epic. However, this takes whip anger to 22 turns. There's also two pre-chopped forests that can be used. Whip or not?

2. Should I whip buildings (harbors, etc) to get them out of the way for units? If so, everywhere, or just where the whip anger is low or gone?

3. How well should the Northern cities be garrisoned to deal with the likely backstab by Washy?

1. Tough call, I'd say if at happy limit no, if not yes.

2. Only in good production cities, like Nidaros, capital. Other cities need the pop up for science.

3. Well, I'd have all the Lbows and any units not needed for happy moved to the two northern cities, if the SoD goes past them we can attack out of the cities. Also I'd change Nidaros to Lbow production as soon as war were declared.

10 gold...why ask for so much...1 gold if your really worried.

Washington, Bah, station a Crossbow along with a long bow in the 2 border cities, and we're sweet.

Remember Military build up, will make him afraid of our 'military prowess' and less likely to attack, that along with Wang Kon having no Tech's to bribe him into war with.

I have a Question to the Peanut Gallery.

Should I trade Education away??

I'd trade it to Wang, for Guilds, Optics, gold and world map.

Washington for Engineering gold, he's part way into Education now.

Sitting Bull, just to off load it from Wangs trade abilities for Drama and gold.

Darius, still hasn't gotten paper or Philosophy as yet.

I've decided to go for Gunpowder, as tech to research, not going to worry about Liberalism, or should I reconsider. We could possibly take Chemistry from it, or nationalism.

I viewed the game as more a Conquest of Continent, and 1 tech, wasn't going to do us much good, as not much tech trading now.

Should I give up Monopoly? it gains us Knights, 3 movement troops. Washington just built the wonder, hence the trade offer. I'll wait 24 or so hr's.

I approve. Wang will be busy building unis instead of troops, and we'll have trebs and knights.

Just chiming in to mention I'm back, will need some time to read up on the game. As to whether to trade edu away, I'm normally inclined to sit on it for a long while. Don't really know our current situation, only if the immediate benefit is really really worth it, I'd go for it. At least get good value for it. :)

Yes, thinking about it know, Trebs and Knights, but losing Liberalism?? I've put no research into it. Personally I'd go greedy and try for the lot, but Wang's most likely to beat us. Though we do have insight into research, and could see if attack slows him down some.

I'll still wait, big decision, don't want to get noses out of joint, or end up in room 101

Hold off on it is my bet as Wang is strong techer. If we go to war we can sell it to the Yanks easily enough later on.
