Sengir03 - The Orwellian State

Well, obviously that game has a better chance of being brought to a happy end.

The correct save is attached; the correct save has always been attached. We have a glorious empire of 31 cities and have always been war with a sily Persian guy named Darius.

And here was I thinking we were at war with a barbaric African named Zara. Must be those darned Goldsteins again. I'd better check myself into Room 101 just to be sure.

Huh, that's weird. I could've sworn I attached it; in fact, I remember downloading it to make sure I had the right one. It's attached to the report.

And no, we're not at war with Darius, but I'm afraid we're going to have to take him down a notch soon ;) going for nukes at full speed isn't out of the question.

Lads looking at the strategic resource map I see all we have to do to cripple Zara out of modern units is to take out 4 cities (and stop Darius trading with him). They are all coastal cities too. So maybe we should be gunning for flight and rushing airports while building up a naval task force.

Map attached with Zara's need to capture cities in red and Darius' ones in Gold. The two gold circles are an either/or proposition.

Extensive look through?

1)Condate, why are we farming the wrong tile to Irrigate the Corn to the NE. Denoted as a hammer city, Plains should be work shops, grassland farms, Hills all mines, No cottages at all.
2)Pons Aelius, Culture, long hard battle to take any tiles, but must do something.
3)Madrid (ours and holy city) Toledo (Cathy non holy) Both have been reset Culturally to Zero, NOW is the time to take tiles, best and only opportunity, CULTURE IN MADRID, CULTURE CULTURE CULTURE. That and gold Multiplying buildings. Wall Street Needs to be built here, along with the 2 corporations that we'll found. Sids Sushi, for the Culture aspect as well as food, and mining Inc, for the hammers.
4)South of Evertonium, we'll need to settle a city, it'll be taken other wise. Complete Cultural blockade to the Eastern Entry there as well, Catherine has settled the dual Oil Further East.
5)Neapolis, should get West point built there, 15 Exp troops then.
6)SW of Circei, we need to build a Cultural blocade on land throught there, settle a 1 tile island to block off from West entry.
7)I'll probably decide on other cities as I play, but Commerce Cottages on Grassland, farms for growth. Production, only mines on hills, Workshops on Plains, Farms on Grassland.

On diplomacy;

NEVER EVER TRADE WITH GANDHI. Our optimum opponent would be William. How do we do this??

a) We go to war against Gandhi, take his cities, and gift them to William.
b) We gift resources, food etc to William.e Don't go overboard about defending him, but plump him up.We have to build the United Nations, or get William too, build in a city and gift it to him?? breaches rules, No.
c)Hammurabi and Alexander, Catherine's Vassal, are Mutual Worst Enemies, Potential for future conflict there possibly, but wouldn't hold out much hope.
ci)Settle more cities if only for resources, and land potential. Deny to Ai, but gift other to William.

Switching of Civics. I don't see the need for it, stay in Hinduism, we're getting +7 and +3 from 2 Hindu's now, go back to Organised religion is the only swap I'd advocate. We don't want a friendly William he's our Opponent.

Switch Catherine back to Hinduism, using Espionage and bribes, and spamming Hindu Missionaries to non Hindu cities. She's a Possible Cultural Victor, or switching to Islam totally.

Government; Representation, for the Specialists, switch to Hereditary rule for Vote. Use Christo Redentor.
Legal; Bureaucracy, a definite, for Rome. No switch.
Labour; Caste System for +1 Hammers, or Slavery?? Possibly Emancipation later on.
Economy; Mercantilism and SoL gives +2 Specialists. Free market more trade routes, but if big enough, internal would be enough, state property, +10% :hammers:
Religion; Stay in Theocracy till Christo Rendentor, then Organised religion. Stay a Hindu.

To sum up;

Build more settlers,
Run Science at 70%, quicker then building up cash for 100% run. With forbidden Palace coming online, saving more cash.
Flip Toledo, Culturally, if Catherine gifts it back to Isabella, we're in Deep DooDoo.
Don't get involved in a Catherine V's Hammurabi war, if it ever happens.
Mines over windmills in production, only in commerce cities.

Long term;

War with Gandhi, gift cities to William.
South, Settle out lands
East, Settle and gift to William.
Resources, settle cities to Gather.
Stay Hindu.
No civics switching till Christo Rendentor is built.

Wait 48 Hr's for comments, alterations, discussion, strategy.

Further looking through, too much short sighted play, cities building wealth WITHOUT banks.

Pain during my set, we're in Slavery, lets use it, Switch to Organised Religion, (yes I know I said no switches) Whip in Banks, and Grocers.

Coastal Cities all get harbours, for Mercantilism. Banks etc on a case by case.

Build 2 Buddhist Temples and Buddhist Stupa in Madrid. Culture Culture Culture. TAKE THOSE TILES NOW!!!!!

I can see windmills over mines now, maybe a short sighted play on my part, but I like to pop resources and play mainly marathon, so I like the 1:hammers: and resource popping potential. Still say mine in production, windmills in commerce, Regardless. Moai statues?? special case needs food.

Tech path, Beeline Mass media, won't get distracted this time. (doh, I wanna, I wanna..)

Will need to trade of Physics in 2-3 turns, best decide returns we'll accept?? if any?? Trade for Communism, no one seems to be building the Kremlin. If going to whip, might as well get the 33% discount, and continue wonder spamming.

Er, did you post this in the wrong succession game? I don't remember meeting Cathy, Izzy, or Ghandi. :P

And here I thought I was the one who messed it up.

The Times breaking news.
It has been revealed to us by Big Brother that Emmanuel Goldstein is now going under the alias of cripp7, and has brainwashed our poor party comrade IPEX into believing that he's a Roman emperor of many centuries ago.

Mundane translation: IPEX has given his PPP for the World Wide Wonder SG he's also doing.

As a matter of compensation, if I ever get around to playing the set I might post it in the WWW thread then. :)

I say we should play according to IPEX's plan, randomly picking the cities and enemy civs to apply the advice to.

*Thought police, crash in through doors and windows, dragging IPEX-731BA5DDO6 Off to Room 101*

Errr...Agents of Goldstein have hacked into my data base and altered my reality.

I miss posted...sorry......got to mix it up a bit.

Played a kind of eerily silent set before a likely storm will be unleashed. Well, you could hear some pindrops fall in the form of a couple of Ethiopian battleships that where sunk to the ground with some losses on our side that were never again mentioned about afterwards.

Kept on building navy and kept on working on a stack, with a reasonable amount of drafting to help that cause. What is reasonable, you might ask? Well, anything is! :p

Biggest news was that the citizens of New York were feeling unsafe. Really, what else is new?:D While of course organizing a campaign to convince the citizenry of anything true or untrue was rather appealing, the real truth of the matter of course was lying in the other option, escape impossible.
SNGR350022.jpg

Artillery came in and while flight was an appealing option, I took the executive decision to go for electricity. Not because it bring us closer to being able to broadcast marching music over the state radio, but because I think BB will eventually want to play with little red buttons to tame the 2 other monsters. :mischief::nuke::mischief:

Here is where we stand technologically.
SNGR350025.jpg

And that was about it already. Workers railroaded virtually everything. We settled on a uranium source already, but just noticed another source that might be valuable to hook up. Just in case. ;)

1) Incorrect saves or no saves
2) Posting of misinformation, in the names of Big Brothers inner Cadre.
3) Stealing or Glorious Scientific Advances, and removing all knowledge of that Technology from our own records.
4) Destruction of our invincible armed forces, along with the arming of an African Despot, to oppose our Glorious Revolution
5) Removal of the notation of the heroic Deeds preformed by or in the name of Big Brother.
