Sengir03 - The Orwellian State

We could drag Darius in on our side to combat the Vial African up start.

Looked into that during my TS. Was either "we can't betray our close friends", or "we just don't like you enough".

Declaring on Darius will probably just be a dog-pile proposition at the moment. I'd say war with Zara until Nukes and then hit him hard with as many as possible. Then decide.

Oops, sorry about the delay. I would of swore that I just played the turnset before Mr. Shanahan. I can play on Tuesday or Wednesday if that's alright?

That's fine with me.

PPP as follows: Tech to Flight

THe following cities will be building Destroyers non stop as well as a Drydock if needed;

Spoiler :
Vandal, Borsippa, Nidaros, Birka, Haithabu, Drfaters, Pyongyang, Seoul, Nampo, Hyangsan, NY, Washington, Boston, Poverty, Cahokia, Mound City, Babylon(granary, library and bank first), Dur-k

Smaller cities will build wealth/research

Will start building nukes when possible

Inland cities > units

Best plan to have when trying to please Big Brother, is don't have a plan... I like it.

, Production, bonuses and Nukes. We have the Human advantage over the A.I. in all 3. Just remember to Nuke the Uranium deposits for Zara 1st, and Keep Nuking them.

Oh burn down the city built on them ( I think one was mentioned)

No problem Norvin, I'll be busy with the SGOTM before I get to this one any way.

The Good: I played the set, Flight and Fascism are in as the Manhattan Project:

Civ4ScreenShot0006.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0009.jpg

The Bad: I played the set

The Ugly: Darius has only to build the Stasis Chamber and his spaceship is complete

My apologies for a not so stellar set as I hardly ever get this far into a game so I had no inkling of what ICBM’s do, etc.
Two ICBM’s detonated in Zara’s cities marked by Brian Shanahan. I was loading troops to attack those cities but fear we need to attack Darius instead and take his cap.

Uh, you weren't supposed to fire those nukes already. Without immediate follow they are wasted.

Plan for now is to build 4 nukes and a bunch of paratroopers and set sail to Darius. Declare on him after he launched; nuke Ergili and take it, move in transport with Paratroopers. Nuke Persepolis and drop the bunch of paratroopers next to it and capture the city. Pray that they don't get all shot down by fighters.

Anyone know a way to avoid three turns of Anarchy for a slavery switch? Otherwise I just might have to bite the bullit and switch anyway. Apparently we can get a 2-civic switch for 3 turns as well, so I'm going to pick up police-state as well.

EDIT:
Actually, I think we're pretty much game over, as unless I'm mistaken, Darius will have SDI in about 5 turns. We don't have enough EP or spies to prevent this, which is going to increase the number of nukes we're going to need immensely.

EDIT2:
When did we lose Hyangsan? That little city might be a live-saver for us. We can steal Radio from Zara; Get peace for Namp'o and use the spies sleaping there to steal ourselves to something akin techparity (or at least not as big a hole). Then we declare on Darius (because we must), start building TacNukes, submarines and paratroopers and proceed as planned. Just need to pray that Zara doesn't redeclare after 10 turns. We've got a total of 6 spies ready for stealing and about 4 techs worth of EP. What techs do we want? Radio for sure, I'd say Plastics and Satelittes as well (on the road to laser, which he doesn't have) and Refrigeration for the extra movement.

Cristo Redentor or Spritual or Golden Age only.

Turn 0:
I steal Radio, set a bunch of cities to TacNukes, some others to Submarines and a couple on paratroopers. Drop the tech slider to 0, micro cities for gold as I want to delay the war with Darius as long as possible, so until Zara is at the gates of Namp'o or Darius is ready to launch, I'm going to prolong this war.

Downsize the military (delete a bunch of outdated units, as they are only costing us, not benefiting us).

Turn 3:
Time to gift Namp'o away
Lose three spies, but steal Ecology (I'm pretty sure we're going to get nuked and I want to be able to clean it up), Plastics & Satellites. Set tech to Laser (and turn the slide up again.

Declare on Darius; we've always been at war with Darius. (except that if we were, we'd be pretty glowy at this point. Had to reload, because I forgot to declare. :hammer: )

Move units out of HE-city in the hope of making it less of a target.

Turn 4:
Darius finishes SDI, also: we get nuked to pieces. HE is triple hit, as are some naval units.

Turn 5:
A bait stack is triple hit (arties + a tank), ah well, that's why it is a bait stack
We get a GE in Seoul, not sure what to do with him, so he can stay there.

Turn 6:
No nukes this turn

Turn 7:
Again no nukes. I didn't think he'd run out this quick. What is the guy up to?
A roaming destroyer finds two Persian subs. Lose a destroyer, but both are sunk. As is another one spotted near HE. That's potentially 3 TacNukes less.

Turn 8:
Bah, two more nukes on HE. Kill the offending Submarine though. No others spotted.

Turn 9:
He's showing of ICBMS now, hits Capital (only one though). Also: he launches this turn, so we'd better hurry.

Turn 10:
No nukes this turn.

Turn 11:
UN resolution: Emancipation...
I'm going to alter the rules during the game, though I'm loathe to do it. Fact is, I forgot about the UN. We should have either disabled to UN or allowed emancipation, as there's no way anyone can cope with both Emancipation anger and (double) villain anger. So, we vote in favor of emancipation. Our people have always been emancipated.
No nukes again.

Turn 12
Emancipation Resolution succeeds and our people are happy again. Kill a missile cruiser. Set sail towards Persia

Turn 13
Still moving

Turn 14
We lose a destroyer. Kill the offender

Turn 15
Lose 2 destroyers and a (bait) transport.

Let's start the nuking

I need 4 nukes to get some odds on Ergili, and then I need all four infantry to get the city. I start to wonder whether I've been cutting it too close.
Throw the last 5 nukes on Persepolis, thankfully 3 hit target. Of the 4 paratroopers I brought, 2 survuve the jump. 1 is damaged though and can't move. The last one takes the city, nullifying Darius space ship.

I have no clue whether we'll be able to survive this. If Darius gets his mind together and starts building Nukes we're going to be in deep trouble. But maybe he starts over with his spaceship. My advice: tech to Laser, build SDI, then shut of all research. And we should probably stop building paratroopers, as his new cap is too far inland anyway. Focus on TacNukes and navy.

I didn't micro last turn, so next player should do so. If I have time I'll edit in pictures tomorrow, too tired now.

Also, this game is getting hard on my machine, I had to reload (and restart my comp) a couple of times :D

Excellent job on installing a dysfunctional O-ring on Darius' spaceship. :goodjob:

Big question is, where do we go from here? Is there any way to go, other than to room 101?

I'm afraid I might be up, is that correct?

Make the world a beautiful colour of irridescent green. Can we cap anyone at this stage with nuke, raze withdraw methods, or is dom via capping out of the question.

I don't think we're close to capping anyone yet. We'd need way more nukes to accomplish that. Still... hitting coastal cities with three nukes and razing the city should cripple the AI (as it would us). We need a lot of destroyers as well, to spot incoming subs. And subs for carrying the nukes. We need at least 2 fully loaded subs per city and a fully loaded transport (or 2) + defense per city. And hope we don't get nuked on the way.

Hitting the Oil(2 land, 2 sea) of Darius, seems the Quickest way, along with the Uranium deposits (3)

Quick way to toggle resources, Go to Globe view (F11) click on general resources only, back to world view (F11) and now only general resources are shown. (no Luxury or food)

Removing Oil removes jets, helicopters. Both Oil and Uranium removes the Destroyers, transports, battleships, Missile cruiser, and virtually all advanced units except for Mechanised infantry and normal infantry.

Nuke the land based resources of these, drop units to suicide pillage, etc.

Once we have Darius under our wing as a Vassal, we'll have an Easy domination Victory, and we'll have taken our Glorious revolution to the world.

All HAIL BIG BROTHER, OMNIPOTENT LEADER OF OUR WORLD.

some further notes on game, we can drop the Luxury tax down to 20% from 40% and increase science slider by 10%.

I've never been big on Paratroopers, I prefer to use Marines to attack from Sea.

I've never heavily used Nuclear war, so meh, we'll see.

Taking out the Oil 2 on land, would curtail the units we face.

Be more strategic in the Nuking of cities, take out the resources used for Retaliation and we won't face any. Sam infantry would be needed as well to combat the Helicopter fleet.

War with the True Enemy of the People, Eurasia. May Big Brother long reign Supreme.

With massed Nukes Paratroopers are probably the best fit. That of course is assuming the AI hasn't built SDI. You nuke the garrison out of existence drop a para one tile away, walk him in, reinforce by plane directly. Rinse and repeat as much as you want.

Well, that's exactly the problem, both Zara and Darius have SDI by now. We need subs + tacnukes to get through. And paratroopers get shot down every now and then.
