Serenity (Firefly Movie)

I've been waiting for it to come out ever since I Netflix'ed the entire Firefly season a few months ago. I still can't believe Fox cancelled the show, but perhaps the movie will make some people think twice.

There's even a trailer for it here.

I saw a couple of episodes of Firefly, it was okay. Didn't have the time to get into it. Sigh...there's a lot of scifi I wish I had time to get into....

The ships in that trailer (at least from the angle I saw them) were almost a rip-off of The Matrix. Anyways, all things considered, it looks pretty good. :)

High time for a bump.

So is everyone looking forward to this movie like good little boys and girls?

I have been waiting for this movie ever since I saw FireFly (on DVD) :)

It rates among the bestest darnest television ever.

I plan to see it. I was watching a movie last night and they had one of the guys from the show on the little talk peice before and and after the ads and he was saying fox treated the cast and crew like trash. Stupid fox. Been watching it on Scifi and am hoping for a revival(I have heard if the movie does wel enough there might be more)

Well, the actors are signed for a three movie contract. So, if this one does well, we can expect to see numbers two and three in the future.

It's good to hear positive reviews, I was afraid it might be crap. Maybe this will get us another season of Firefly?

Sometimes it surprises me when I find out about stuff WAAAAAY before others do. I can't wait for this to come out here. I might be the first person in line waiting for it.

I doubt it would come back to television; Mutant Enemy doesn't exist anymore. Film sequels are more likely, but I don't know how much mass appeal the movie will have. Sci-Fi is still a niche market.

Personally, Firefly was probably my least favorite Whedon show, but that may be because it had the weakest cast. I'm still interested to see the movie though.

Speak for yourself. I thought the Firefly cast was awesome. As was the writing. And, frankly, everything else.

Unfortunately, Fox owns the rights to the television show, and the have made it abundantly clear to Whedon that it will never see the light of day again. Fortunately, he still owns the film rights.

I can't wait for Serenity.

Firefly was awesome. Of course I didn't see it until after Fox cancelled it. They said that if Serenity does well theres going to be 2 more movie sto finish off the trilogy. What I don't get is why a scifi series such as Firefly was on Fox in the first place, it just isn't the right market.

FOX mismanaged Firefly. I am confident that had FOX shown the show in the correct order, there would have been at least a full first season.

From what I can tell, Serenity does not have entirely the same cast as FireFly.

It has the exact same core cast as in the television show (the actors that portrayed Mal, Jayne, Inara, Kaylee, Simon, River, Wash & Book all return).

Apparently the bounty hunter returns, the one left drifting in space: "well here I am - does that seem right to you?"

Nope, different black guy altogether.

Jubal was a lot of fun, but I like the Operative (the black guy from Serenity) even more.

And predictably (not that I'm complaining), the Sci-Fi channel in the US is running the season episodes as a marathon.
